National Social Security Authority of Zimbabwe (NSSA)
Established in terms of the NSSA Act of 1989, Chapter 17: 04.

At the moment NSSA is administering two schemes
But the groundwork for the introduction of more schemes is underway.

National Pension Scheme (NPS) Established, and is administered, in terms statutory Instrument 393 of 1993 and introduced in 1994.
This scheme is based on a 50/50 contribution from the employers and the emplyees. The members of the scheme are entitled to the benefits after a minimum contribution period and have met the qualifying condition of each of the benefits. Every Zimbabwean above 16 years old and under the age of 65 who is in permanent, seasonal, contract or temporary employment are able to be a member of the scheme. And all the Zimbabwean that meet this criteria are obliged by law to become a member contribute to the scheme. Once an employee attains the age of 65, deduction of contributions in respect of the employee should cease even if he/she continues to work.
This not includes domestic workers and the informal sector yet.
Membership to the scheme is compulsory regardless of whether the employee is covered by a private scheme.
The Authority are informed of any changes or developments in the business of the employers, so NSSA can adjust the insurance premiums and records accordingly, in line with any changes as and when they occur.
The contribution is made by an equal monthly amount of 4% of the employee’s monthly salary by both employers and employees.
The total of 8% is paid to the nearest NSSA office on or before the 10th of each month. Employers are obliged to ensure that contributions are deducted and paid to NSSA.

The NPS offer four main types of benefits:
-Retirement pension and grants
Pension Qualification Criteria: Age 55 years early retirement (if in arduous occupation). Age 60 years -normal retirement.

The privatization is the best way to ensure the future's of Americas senior citizens. After 2013, the Social Security Trust Fund is projected to decline by a greater amount each year until becoming exhausted in 2033. Social Security is a wonderful benefit for those who deserve it like long term workers, the elderly, etc. For as long as the baby boomers do not come back around like it's subjected to, the US is already in debt and Social Secuirty will be next. In essence, this program was created to help take care of the elderly by paying a percentage out of a payroll check into a large pool and later in life getting that percentage back while a younger workforce pays in. Roosevelt in 1935, during the great depression. The social security system was supposed to be a creation that would cover nearly all Americans. Social security smoothes the risks of economic cycles, and it remains the most secure retirement income in America. Social Security does not follow a savings and investment model, it taxes current workers and uses the revenues to finance benefits for existing retirees. The Social Security benefits of current workers will be funded to them when they retire by the future generation of working people.
