Luck Air had a great business model, and that was to follow the same model as Southwest Airlines in the United States. Because Luck Air is considered a domestic airline in China they operate on a small scale compared to major competitors and so it made economical sense to offer low-cost, high-efficiency to their customers. In 2007 Lucky Air was able to more than double the amount of passengers from the year before by using a low-cost tactic. However other airlines have also caught on to offering low-cost fares for domestic routes to their passengers. With more competitors Lucky Air has decided to look at the possibility of taking a risk and to focus on e-commerce. Backed by their parent company Hainan Airlines, Luck Air has access to one of the most advanced web portals in the Chinese airline industry. But is e-commerce a good and viable option to compete with other airlines? Taking a look at what exactly e-commerce is important to grasp the understanding of how a business can operate, stay competitive and obtain a profit in a digital world. E-commerce involves digitally enabled transactions between and among organizations and individuals. Digitally enabled transactions include all those mediated by digital technology such as over the Internet, the Web and or via mobile apps. (Laudon & Traver, 2013, p. 55). Currently Airlines in China have high distribution costs which are fees paid to travel agents, the cost of staffing offices for direct offline purchases of tickets, the cost of a reservation system, offline advertising and marketing and ticketing fees to the government. The idea behind e-commerce for airlines is to decrease their dependency on sales offices or agents and computer reservation systems. The risks are consumers who fear credit card fraud and the extremely low percentage of Internet users especially in less populated areas in…...

He wasn't fond of German shepherds, and this one, though he was standing quietly, reminded him of Panther, the police dog that rode with Deputy Kenny Moore and was quick to bite suspects in the crotch at the slightest command. Most of the time he regarded Moore as an idiot, but he was still just about the closest thing to a friend that Clayton had in the department, and he had to admit that Moore had a way of telling those crotch-biting stories that made Clayton double over in laughter. How Lucky You Are

...How Lucky You Are Whenever I hear the word lucky, the first thing that comes to my mind is winning the lottery. Winning in the lottery would mean a life filled with luxury. It would mean that I could live in a big fancy house with ocean view. I could drive my Ferrari to work, if I actually bothered to work. I never think of how lucky I already am, even though I never have won the lottery. I live in a country where I am safe. I wake up every day and know that I will get food and be able to wear some nice cloths. This is not the case for everyone. In some countries, you never know what to expect when you wake up. You could be shot because there is war, or you could starve because your family cannot afford food. Some of the people who live under these conditions try to immigrate to another country. Sometimes the immigrant is completely alone without any family, because the family is unable to run away from the country. If the immigrant then succeeds their immigration they do not know anything about their family anymore. For all they know they could be dead. This is what the story “How Lucky You Are” from 2010 by Depi Alper is about. The story takes place in the urban environment of South London in Corydon where the main character named Max lives. Max is a troubled teenager who lives with his mom. Max’ father left to find himself. Max hates him for this mainly because he could hear his mother cry weeks after the father left: “Yeah right, Dad. That's why I heard her crying......

Clearly she is moved by the ignorance about her parents, but she has managed to live on, and she is trying to build a new future, far away from Iran, in which her future looks dark and are not existing. She can still smile, enjoy and express love although the things she has been through has left vestige inside her. She too seems to be willing to open up, tell her personal story to somebody she just met, tells that she is an outgoing, trusting person. Max kind of has more, different types of......

...E-commerce at Yunnan Lucky Air Inaki Berenguer, Cai Shijun, Li Liang, Liu Jing, Ningya Wang Preserve the essence of traditional Chinese culture while learning from successful models of the world. - Yunnan Lucky Air, statement of corporate culture Fortune had favored Yunnan Lucky Air. Four years after its founding in 2004, Lucky Air had grown into a US$104.3 million (RMB720 million) low-cost airline, serving domestic routes from its hub in Kunming, the capital of southwestern China’s Yunnan province. Yunnan was one of China’s top tourist destinations, famous for its beautiful landscape and multi-ethnic culture, and Lucky Air had successfully attracted over 1.2 million Yunnan-area travelers in 2007 alone – more than double the number of passengers from the year before. Compared to such major competitors as Air China and China Southern Airlines, Lucky Air operated at a relatively small scale, modeling its low-cost, highefficiency strategy on Southwest Airlines in the United States. And the years of consistently rapid growth seemingly demonstrated the model’s strength. Yet Lucky Air and its parent, Hainan Airlines, were growing concerned. The Chinese airline industry was heavily regulated, limiting flexibility for new airlines. Nonetheless, new low-cost competitors were blossoming, and Lucky Air found itself among an increasingly crowded field: there were 11 low-cost Chinese airlines by 2007, and two more waiting for official approval. Anticipating a potential squeeze, Lucky......

The " Lucky" One

...The “Lucky” One In Shirley Jackson’s short story “The Lottery”, the evils of humanity and the strong roots of tradition dominate the behaviors of the community as a whole. The characters in this story represent the different evils of this barbaric tradition help in this small community. The tradition itself overrides the basic moral that killing someone is wrong in all situations. Robert Heilman says that Jackson, “has taken the ancient ritual of the scapegoat—the sacrificing of an individual on whom evils of the community are ceremonially laid, and plunged it into an otherwise realistic account of contemporary American life” (222). The story takes place in a small village with about 300 people. “The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with fresh warmth of a full-summer day” (Jackson 681). Lenemaja Friedman says, “The village appears to have holiday atmosphere…readers expectations are that the lottery is a joyous occasion, ending with a happy surprise for some lucky individual” (191). The lottery drawing is held at the town square where the school, post office, grocery store, and school are located. The children have just been dismissed from school for summer break and are eager to play. The boys begin to gather up stones and making piles. Readers at first see nothing wrong or symbolic about the gathering of these stones. According to Friedman, “The gathering of the stones in one corner of the square is part of the ceremony , performed by the......

Lucky Air the Beginning

...1. What are Yunna Lucky Air’s best options? Lucky Air chose to follow the model of the Southwest Airlines in the United States. Lucky Air is a domestic airline located in China. Because it is a low-cost and high-efficiency airline it doubled the amount of passengers since 2007. E-commerce was a risk Luck Air decided to take on because other airlines were now offering low-cost high-efficiency flights. E-commerce by definition is commercial transactions conducted electronically on the internet. This is a good way to stay in competition with other airlines. E-commerce allows airlines to cut out the middle man such as sales agents and sales offices. Its downfall however is that because they cut out the middle man allowing their rates to be less some people may think it is a scam or would be afraid to disclose credit card information because there is no sale agency involved.
