Dogs Make the Best Pets
Dogs come in all shapes and sizes. From tea cup size to giant size, from long hair to short hair and even hairless. With all the different breeds of dogs there is a variety of behavior and personalities and a variety of looks. But with all this variety there is one thing that stays constant – the love and companionship a dog gives. Regardless of the type of dog you chose your little furry friend will become your best friend, your family and if you let them will become part of your heart. There is no other animal that would make a better pet than a dog, no other pet provides more unconditional love and affection, and provides more social interaction and companionship than a dog. A dog expresses love and affection in so many ways, from the affectionate licks on our face, the intimate wagging of their tails, to their hugs when you come home. I cannot think of another species in the universe other than a dog that is capable of expressing their unconditional love and unwavering loyalty. When you think of a pet the two obvious choices that come to mind are a dog or a cat. Some people may try to argue that a cat is a better pet, but a cat does not greet you at the door like a dog, nor is a cat as affectionate as a dog. A cat is more independent than a dog, they tend to come around when they need something where a dog actually identifies with their owners mood. My dog can actually sense my mood and react accordingly; when I am sick or sad my dogs lie with me just offering comfort.
If you walk through any neighborhood you will see owners out with their dogs. Whether it is a walk down the street or a game of fetch in the park dog owners are more likely to be active and social. A common neighborhood staple has become the dog park where people gather to socialize with other owners while their dogs socialize with other dogs. I have yet to…...

A Dog for a Pet

...A multi-purpose pet I wanted to inform you that I am planning to adopt a pet in the near future. I’ve considered the various pets available for adoption and have come to the conclusion that adopting a dog would be the best choice for both you and me. I will explain a few of the reasons that I feel adopting a dog is our best choice; Dogs are very loyal to humans, they teach children responsibility, and will help protect our family and homes from criminals. The loyalty of a dog is unsurpassed by any other type of pet. Dogs are often referred to as, “Man’s best friend.” Throughout the world, dogs are used to help people with disabilities, assist police in dangerous law enforcement, and provide companionship to patients recovering from serious health issues. Dogs continuously display their loyalty to humans. As a child, I remember spending hours on end with my dog, Rango. No matter how down or lonely I may have been at times, Rango was always willing and available to play with me. He was my dog and I was responsible for making sure that he was properly fed and well taken care of. Looking back, I realize the sense of responsibility that I gained from having a dog. Now, as a Father, I would like for my children to have a dog, so that they too can learn to be responsible during their childhood. There are few feelings greater than knowing that your family and home are safe. A dog’s natural instincts make them great “security guards”. Their sense of smell and hearing are...

Why Pets

...Reasons why People Keep Pets Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Different people keep pets for different reasons. Some people will keep pets for companionship, others for their playfulness while others for their unique characteristics and personalities. Many like pets because of the fun that they bring to their lives, though not so many people have focused on other benefits that pets may come along with (Barnes, 2007). Most people who keep pets have come out and said that the pets help them relieve stress and avoid lonely moments. Pets such as dogs are considered important in the sense that they increase the owner’s chances for taking outdoor exercise activities. Individuals who keep dogs will have no option rather than to take the dog for a walk, mostly on a daily basis. The dog and the owner in this case will have the chance to boost their physical fitness (Barnes, 2007). Again, it is in such a walk that the keeper of the pet will get the opportunity to meet other dog owners in the field, making the friendship circle bigger and enriching the life of the owner. Some people on the other hand prefer keeping fish as their pets. Such an activity calls for extra time and commitment from the owner. Keeping fish as pets introduces additional activities that the owner must attend to on a daily basis and hence the owner commits his time and effort to doing what he/she likes best. Some individuals......

The Lady with a Pet Dog

...Christina Diaz Due Monday 24, 2013 Rough Draft People spend their lives searching for happiness. Some find happiness in the company of family or friends. Other people find happiness in material possesions. And many others consider finding true love the ultimate happiness. Everyone is on their spiritual quest to find it, and sometimes, when they find happiness they do not know how to handle it. In Anton Chekov’s short story “The Lady with the Pet Dog,” Chekov let’s us into the mind of the character Dmitry Gurov as he seeks to compensate his unhappy life in his many affairs with women. In one of his many affairs with Anna Sergeyevna we see how Dmitry changes his views and attitude as he falls in love. In the beginning of “The Lady with the Pet Dog,” the character Dmitry Gurov is an unhappy narcissistic and a misogynist who is easily bored with women and his lover Anna Sergeyevna. By the end of the story, however, he changes his views of Anna when he realizes he loves her. Before meeting Anna, Dmitry is displayed in an unflattering manner. He is very unhappy with his life and marriage even though his wife was described as “a tall, erect woman with dark eyebrows, stately and dignified and, as she said of herself, intellectual” (156). She seemed like a great woman with beauty and intelligence, yet, he was still dissatisfied, “he privately considered her of limited intelligence, narrow-minded, dowdy, was afraid of her, and did not like to be home” (156). Dmitry is very......

The Lady with the Pet Dog

...feelings can direct people to make dreadful choices. The biggest of them all adultery, which can have dramatic effects on the people involved. It can make the adulterous partner feel guilty and often lead to an overpowering confusion. There is a controversy in what makes a person do what he or she does, nature versus nurture. When it comes down to it people automatically see nature as being what environmentally influences them, and nurture as the way they are taught to feel and think about things. In the battle between nature and nurture “It is nature that wins”. The short story “The lady with the Pet dog” by Joyce Carol Oates illiterates it. The short story starts with a woman named Anna, who is at an event with her husband when she sees a man in the crowd and suddenly is anxious and in distress about it. She goes home her mind passes over him while she is with her husband and it is made apparent that the man she saw was at one time her lover. The author describes Anna and her husband laying there when she closes her eyes and thinks about the other man. “always this hot flashing of shame between them, the shame of her husband’s near failure, the clumsiness of his love” (771) she is unhappy in the marriage as she feels nothing towards the husband as he caresses her .the story then flashes back to several months prior. This time Anna is in Nantucket Were she met her lover at the beach. She was always alone until the man with the blind son and the dog came and started a......

Why Cats Are Better Than Dogs

...Why cats are better than dogs Many people today own a pet or some sort, but the most popular are dogs and cats. Everyone has their own particular reason for their choice of pet, but I prefer cats over dogs because cats are more independent than dogs. Firstly you never have to worry about trying to fit in 2 or 3 walks every day because with cats you don’t need that. For example, if you were tired or sick and you had a dog, you would still need to walk him/her. Or, it would cost money to hire someone else to walk your dog and it is a headache to arrange. Lastly you could put down enough food and drink and the cat would eat and drink when hungry or thirsty. A dog, on the other hand wouldn’t be able to regulate how much it should eat. Also a cat can go to the bathroom in a litter box, but a dog would need someone to take it out on a walk in order to go to the bathroom. Secondly cats are much quieter pets than dogs especially during times when you want to sleep or relax. For example; let’s say an individual has a tiring day of work and wants to relax. They finally get comfortable when their dog hears a sound outside or sees another dog and starts barking uncontrollably whereas cats keep any moods they have to themselves. Cats do not feel a need to share their opinions with everyone around them. They keep quiet and do not bother with meowing at strangers. When friends arrive at your home, a dog goes into frenzy, barking, leaping and pawing at the newcomer. While the dog does......

Heather Scott Dr. John Theodore BUS322015VA016-1156-001 (Organizational Behavior) July 18, 2015 Google has been ranked the number one place to work by Fortune for six years now. Google has been on the list of best places to work for nine years. They are also ranked number 46 on the Fortune500 (“Google,” 2015). There isn’t any one thing that drives Google to the top of the list of best employers and I’m sure it would be near impossible to capture all of the reasons but this will take a look through the more major and significant reasons. Google is in the information technology sector, and they dabble in many parts of the whole. Most recognizable from their search engine, Google is also developing their own fiber network, and they’re testing self-driving cars right now also. While Google is based in the United States, they are a dominant force globally as well. Their search mechanisms are the most widely recognized and utilized worldwide. The internet reaches the furthest corners of the world and therefore Google has to be ready to conceptualize that. Google is a constant force in the global marketplace, beating out competitors for hits and ensuring they are meeting the needs of the cultures in every country in the world. Google may look the same from country to country, but your results will vary based on some of the restrictions placed upon governments in certain different societies. While Google operates its......

Why a Dog?

...reasons why one should make the wise decision to adopt a dog, the first of which is that one gets to save a life by choosing to adopt a dog. In the United States of America only, more than two million dogs are available for adoption on a yearly basis. The main reason why so many dogs are available for adoption is there are many individuals who give up their pets to animal shelters, and the number of individuals who go to shelters to adopt a dog is small. Unfortunately, many animal shelters do not have enough space to house the pets comfortably and sometimes do not even have enough resources to take care of the pets. These reasons sometimes push animal shelters to tight corners and cause them to eliminate some of the pets that have not been adopted. If more people came up and adopted the dogs, fewer animals would be eliminated or tortured by those who adopt them for weird reasons. The other reason why one should adopt a dog is that when one adopts a dog from an animal shelter, he or she not only gets to save money but also gets to adopt healthy dogs. There is a common misconception that animals found in animal shelters usually have something wrong with them. The fact is there are numerous reasons that may make one give up a pet to an animal shelter. However, this is not necessarily because the animal is injured or has a certain fault. Animal rescue centers usually concentrate on bringing up animals in the healthiest way that they can to make it easy for one to adopt a dog,......
