What Is a Digital Firm

...What is a Digital Firm Jeremy Schmidt What is a Digital Firm My definition of a "Digital Firm" is a company that uses many types of software that are all tied together to run the major parts of their business. I currently work for an Electrical Supply company. Our company, Werner Electric Supply, is a great example of a Digital Firm. A customer can place an order with one of our inside sales people via phone call, email, or online order from our website.  That order is placed into our business system manually or automatically if done via online order.  Then our business system automatically places an order from our vendors by linking into their business system.  When the product is available in our warehouse, a ticket is printed and stock is pulled and loaded onto our trucks for delivery.  This is tracked by scanning the bar code on the product and the warehouse location, when loaded onto our trucks.  When the product is delivered, the customer signs the bar code reader.  This information is sent wirelessly back to our business system.  Then our accounting group can send an invoice to the customer via email. All of this information is also tied to our customer relationship management software called Tour de Force, which I can access from my laptop, tablet, or Smartphone. Anyone in the company can access this information, to see sales history, and run reports.  I personally use all this information to see what business we ...

NATURE OF CRISIS: THE CRISIS: Nestle, the world’s largest food conglomerate, has undergone a turbulent period since 2010. On March 14 2010, the Independent, a UK-based newspaper, stated that Nestle’s Kit Kat contained palm oil that results in deforestation and threatens the livelihood of the endangered Orang-utans. Environmental Group Greenpeace immediately requested Nestle to “give the rainforest a break” by ending its business partnership with Sinar Mas, its palm oil supplier in Indonesia, as soon as possible. The report spurred Nestle to cancel its contract with Sinar Mas—months after Sinar Mas was shown to be involved in illegal deforestation—but the corporation continues to purchase oil palm from Cargill, which is supplied in part by Sinar Mas. For its part, Cargill says it is investigating Greenpeace's allegations and if Sinar Mas is found to be committing illegal deforestation they will......

In a personal view, PR is inevitably part of our society. Every company uses PR. Public relations is an effort to influence the public. Having clear messages and good PR skills will enable a person to distinctly articulate his/her vision in order to have a voice in the marketplace of ideas, facts, and viewpoints to help in informing the public of the message he/she wants to say. PR is changing and is fueled by technology. The web and social media have created transparency that allows a person to truly engage with the public. I have a friend who is a fourth year highschool student. She is a Chinese. That's why it is not surprising to know that at a very young age she is already engaged in business. She is participating in a very famous social networking site today which is Facebook. She uses Facebook to sell her personally-crafted bracelets. There are many other persons who do this - selling products through Facebook - but what my friend's edge is that she's engaging her customers by befriending them. She helps them in solving their problems, providing them with different information, or simply chatting with them when they want to talk to someone. She really invest time with communicating with her prospects and she don't just offer them products immediately and tagging them with......

...biggest way of communication to the public. So here are my ways to help improve the nine elements of digital citizenship. Digital access is for people that have devices that they work on for participation in society. So one way to help improve this new generations access, is to give them either a computer or tablet. But, there should be qualifications for low-income families that cant afford it but also limited one per household. This could be done the same way the Obama phones are work. The problem with buying and selling goods through an electronic source is that you never meet or know whom your actually talking business with. Therefore you should have some way to contact that person directly without going through others. Exchanging information with anyone through a device is only going to improve for our futures. One way I can see improvements is by seeing and monitoring those such as criminals, and warn those who they are talking to. Therefore they are alerted of their situations and then they can decide what their options are. One way to improve digital immigrants is by hosting live sessions that are free in local libraries on Digital Literacy. This will help bring some communities together to learn and understand the digital aspect of our world today. This will also give the people a resource that is dependable in answering technology questions. Digital etiquette should be in school classes to help people understand the proper way to use......

Defining Pr

...Defining Public Relations Public Relations (PR) has evolved throughout its existence to fit numerous business functions and intents. Some companies refer to PR as the department in charge of publicity and gaining attention. This definition alone can have several meanings. One meaning could be the intent to gain free publicity and attention through news and word of mouth. Another meaning could include the placement of media such as print, radio, and television. Sometimes media buying is handled through the marketing department, or as a joint venture between the two departments. These examples help explain the ambiguity behind the definition of PR. This enigma has attracted much attention from practitioners in the field, and a few main opinions have emerged as to PR’s purpose (Strong, 2011). The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has attempted to define PR as an official definition for the industry. To do that, the PRSA created a loose definition that could be applied to many widely held concepts of the function of PR. A PRSA National Assembly decreed the official definition of PR to be, “public relations helps an organization and its publics adapt mutually to each other” (2011, para 3). The PRSA adds further clarity to this definition be explaining the word organization was chosen to convey the idea that PR is a concept that can be used by many organizations not just businesses. The word ‘publics’ is used to include every stakeholder of an organization, not......

...CHAPTER 1: DIGITAL MARKETING 1. What is Digital Marketing? Digital Marketing is the new age form of marketing in which companies or brands use modern digital mediums like that of the internet. At its core, digital marketing centres around the extremely powerful medium of the internet. The internet can be used to “push” a message to someone like email, RSS etc as well as to “pull” content serving a banner ad & Pay Per Click search terms. Digital Marketing as a term has been around for too long but suffers from the lack of a clear & lucid definition.
