...arose from the liberalization policy which allowed many players to come into the sector and this required an agency to ensure that there was coordination and a level playing field in the sector. The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) was thus established in 1997 following the enactment of the Energy Regulation Act, Cap 436 of the Laws of Zambia. ERB was established to regulate undertakings/utilities in the energy sector including Electricity, Fossil Fuels (petroleum) and Other Forms of Energy such as solar and coal, through specialised licences it would issue. Currently, regulated utilities include ZESCO, Copperbelt Energy Corporation and Lunsemfwa Hydro Power Company under the electricity sub-sector. ERB also regulates the refining, marketing of, importation and transportation of crude and finished petroleum products under the petroleum sub-sector. Some of the companies regulated include INDENI Oil Refinery, TAZAMA Pipeline and all Oil Marketing Companies such as BP (Z), Total (Z), Petrotech and Engen. Due to the conducive investment environment created by Government and the ERB, there are now more than 19 oil marketing companies operating in Zambia and consumers are receiving a better level of service, owing to increased compettion. The functions of the ERB as provided for by the Energy Regulation Act are as follows: issue licences under the Act (to all commercial undertakings in the energy sector); monitor the efficiency and performance of licenced companies, having...

Mlk vs Ghandi

...form of a rap battle. Well, ERB can claim to be the first. With the melodic rhymes and catchy hook. Who exactly won this battle of civil greats, in my esteemed opinion, it would be the Mahatma. Gandhi case presentation and his flow was too beastly for MLK in this battle. First and foremost, in the battle Gandhi states that MLK should “you should jot down my ideas…….plagiarize his whole verse” (ERB).; Mahatma was referencing the fact that MLK followed his ideology. Although, it can be said that he did in fact use some of the ideals of Gandhi, MLK did not use fasting as a way of protest. MLK, himself has stated that Mahatma was a driving influencing in his way of fighting for civil justice but again, he did not steal his ideals like Gandhi claims. Furthermore, Gandhi goes on to state that MLK should leave his ideas at the door like the real Martin Luther (ERB).. Martin Luther gained his fame for nailing his complaints against the Catholic Church in the 14th century, at the time the church would sell indulgences or a way for people to buy their salvation. Gandhi attempts to belittle MLK with the first saying he is a plagiarist then make a play on his name by using the Martin Luther who came before him. In MLK response verse, He states that “he will make Gandhi eat his words so he can break his fast”. The rhyme can be seen as a cheap way of belittling the way Gandhi protested. Also, MLK states that he will “flatten your style like bread….naan violence” (ERB). Here again you can......

...Country Analysis for an Emerging Market: The Indian Example Haoran BI Country Analysis for an Emerging Market: The Indian Example Abstract: The Beta Country Risk Model, as described by Erb, Harvey and Viskanta (1996) and used by Andrade and Teles (2004) for Brazil, is used to estimate the country risk of India based on several macroeconomic indicators. Ordinary least squares regression is run on the white noise (unexpected component) of these variables to explain the variation in country risk to identify the most relevant of these variables. The study shows that the variation in country risk of India is highly correlated with changes in FDI flows, interest rates (monetary policy), exchange rates and the unemployment rate. The effect of political risk on overall country risk is also studied. Key words: country risk, country beta model, risk modeling 1. Introduction Globalization and increasing financial unification has led to a rapid growth of international lending, foreign direct and institutional investment. With this, economies across the globe are increasingly becoming interdependent and developments in one part of the world affect returns in another. Given this, country risk analysis provides insights into that part of the risk of an investment specific to a certain country. “Country Risk”, in general refers to the risk associated with those factors that determine or affect the ability and willingness of a sovereign state or borrower from a particular......

...crime rate in neighborhoods continue to grow. As evidence indicate, the educational system needs a boost “too much emphasis” placed on the bottom line while losing sight of core values are taking place (Erb 2). Proven analysis has shown that children with higher levels of involvement to business adventures as entrepreneurial programs, are less likely to be involved with dangerous activities, thus creating a better environment for society. “Relying on we the people” are lessons that govern citizens to contribute to the nation’s success (Gearan 113). With long term goals and future generations in mind, United States of America’s needs to revitalize the educational system by including the most effective entrepreneurial programs to students curriculum as the positive influence that’s needed. Overall, the many benefits of teaching students to acquire strong commitment for education as revitalizing entrepreneurs are given as inspiring to each individual; they can help with pursuit of goals that exceeds all probability. The educational systems have crucially declined in providing middle with high school students’ measures of successes in society. “The time is right for educators and citizens to reinvent public education” with an active role to participate plus motivate students (Erb 2). A creative way to stimulate the students to pursue social mobility towards improved opportunity, are in the pursuit of happiness by entrepreneurial programs that teaches the business aspects......

...nurse. Lastly, the utilization of inter-professional communication has been described. Inter-professional practice in a healthcare setting refers to the relationship shared by the health professionals to get outcomes in the best interest of their patient as explained by my teacher. To provide a safe, caring and effective patient care the communication between health care members should also be effective and for this it is essential for them to understand communication concepts and techniques like, attending listening and probing (Berman, Kozier & Erb, 2012). The basic reason behind most of the medication errors, adverse reactions and near misses is due to inadequate communication between different health professionals be it oral or written, also the conclusion of many health care quality improvement investigations state that there is a lack of Inter-professional communication and hence suggest to improve it (Berman, Kozier & Erb, 2012). This collaboration between the professionals forms an integral part of the healthcare setting because the whole process of the treatment is based on communication patterns and a level of understanding amongst the carers. However, the health outcomes may suffer to a great extent suffer of poor communication, misunderstanding others perspective, lack of interest and conflicts. (Zwarenstein, Goldman & Reeves, 2009). Hence it is evident that for quality health outcomes inter-professional practice is vital. At healthcare places for......
