It was built to commemorate Vasco Da Gama's voyage and to give thanks to the Virgin Mary for its success. Vasco da Gama's tomb was placed inside by the entrance, as was the tomb of poet Luis de Camões, author of the epic The Lusiads in which he glorifies the triumphs of Da Gama and his compatriots. Visiting Grandparents

...Visiting Grandparents In retrospect, there was something exciting about leaving school early especially earlier than everybody else. My mother came to grab me out of Ms. Wojtyna’s fourth grade class. “Excuse me, I’m sorry for interrupting but I have come to pick up my daughter. Today she is leaving to China”, said my mother. At last, my adventure starts today! No longer would I be under my mother’s grasps . No longer would I have to bore my head in despair and suffer the stifling weeks at home. Our Summer had began. Good-bye my fellow classmates, see you all next year. The day was lovely after all it was Summer. When me and my father waved our solid goodbyes to your family, I felt, that there were some ambiguities that day that my antennas could not receive, perhaps I was too young to take notice then and, also, to know the proper behavior. I trailed off with my father to the airport only to look forward in the freedom we could compensate together that Summer. I had yet to see my grandparents after five long years living in America. Maybe the reason for the cold goodbyes we shared that day we knew we would see each other and by a little over a month, time would snap in an instant. And so it came to pass that I arrived in Hong Kong an quiet girl that followed her father’s more experienced sense of direction. Upon walking to my grandparent’s home we passed through street-markets crowded with people. Most seemed to just pass by not in much interest to buy merchandise. We...

Then it will utilize the linear regression method to determine the relationship between these two variables. By conducting the analysis, the value of the regression coefficient will be determined which the value indicates the correlative degree between these two variables. The positive correlation value means that increase in shuttle bus frequencies will increase guest visits. In opposite, if a negative value been obtained, then the increased bus trips......

If anything would happen to the Smithsonian Museum during the time I was visiting such as catching on fire or an earth quake happening, I would save one or two things on my way out after I got my family out. I would take the Napoleon Diamond necklace and other any other high value or priceless jewelry listed above. I would not take the Hope Diamond because of the curse that surrounds it. This is without a doubt the most visited of any of the Smithsonian museums. It is always crowded. During the weekends it is more crowded than during the week but there is no such thing as a slow day at the Smithsonian since there is so much to see. The exhibits are great, the building is beautiful, and most of all it is free. This place is amazing! From animals, to marine life, to evolution and creation of man, to......

August 31, 2007 by Sandro Saitta Filed Under: Citation, Reference, Wikipedia If You'Re New Here, You May Want to Subscribe to My Rss Feed. Thanks for Visiting! I Recently Had in Interesting Discussion with My Director

...I recently had in interesting discussion with my director about references. The goal of references is twofold. The writer, can refer some texts positively. It is the case if he uses an existing algorithm, for example. A reference can also be used negatively. This happens when the writer want to highlight lack in the literature. He can thus justify the originality of his work. As already mentioned in an former post, some book or articles refer to Wikipedia. That’s where things go bad… Wikipedia is a huge database, an open source encyclopedia (i.e. anybody can contribute to it). The main advantage is that you get a tremendous quantity of articles in any domain. This is a good source to get fast information. But there are two main drawbacks. First, anybody can modify it. Some people may stop me and argue that articles are reviewed by the community. The problem, concerning references, is more regarding the second drawback of Wikipedia: the content changes over time! And this is really bad… When writing a data mining article, people usually refer to journals or books. The implicit assumption is that the content is fixed and will not evolve over time. If a writer refers today to a data mining algorithm on Wikipedia, he has no guarantee that it will be the same in two, three or ten years. Requirements for reliable references are that they i) cross the time without any changes and ii) that they are easily accessible. Following these ideas, writers should refer articles in this......

Visiting the Orphanage

...I really don't know how to accurately describe the despair and emptiness and gripping desperation we saw and experienced that Tuesday afternoon in a small orphanage in Kinshasa. I feel the tears beginning to surface as I type and think back to that day. As we drove through the dirt streets covered in garbage and waste and inhaled the fumes of diesel and charcoal and thick smog in the air, I strived to take a mental image of the scenes as we drove past {I so badly wanted to take a photo but knew it was illegal, so my mental images would be all I had to carry home with me}. I attempted to force to memory the image of the little boy running through the dirt with his handmade stick car being pulled by a tattered twine rope. I observed the women balancing heavy buckets on their heads while they carried young children on their backs. I tried to absorb the sights and sounds and smells and commit them to memory. As we inched closer to the orphanage, her orphanage, I knew that we were passing the streets where our daughter spent her first months on this earth. My heart ached as I gazed out the window of our van. I had to remind myself to breathe, as I sat in disbelief watching this world, her world, pass by. It was truly unlike anything I had seen or experienced before. Knowing that our precious girl had lived here in this place left me numb. Our arrival at the orphanage was met with shrieks of joy and sweet, quiet voices whispering "Thank you!" in an effort to express......

¿a qué coste?

The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Dubai Museum Location and Implication of Visiting Patterns

...The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Dubai Museum Location and Implication of Visiting Patterns Word Count: 1500 Summary Research was conducted through distributing questionnaires to the visitors of the Dubai museum. The findings illustrated that the advantages of the location showed that it was easy to locate, and is located near the metro station. However, findings have also showed that the parking spaces at the Dubai museum are limited and lanes are more congested making it harder for other vehicles and tour buses to reach the museum. Objectives 1. To identify the advantages and disadvantages of the Dubai museum location. 2. To identify the different implications of visiting patterns. 3. To exhibit the findings from the research taken and recommendations to improve the location of the Dubai museum. Introduction Dubai is known for its huge malls, ideal looking hotel and its gleaming skyscrapers; nonetheless, Bur Dubai maintains its culture and history (TVtrip, Bastakiya, 2013). Dubai museum is one of the most attractable historical monuments in Dubai with the aim of presenting a culture and a traditional way of life in the past. It is located in Al- Fahidi Fort, which is a landmark in the Gulf as well as the United Arab Emirates. Al Fahidi Fort subsisted to protect the city against any incursions; therefore, the Dubai Museum presents several dimensions of the region's ethnicity before oil was found (TVtrip, Bastakiya, 2013). Critique of a Streetcar Named Desire a Streetcar Named Desire Faisal Aldahami the 100 Jones June 14, 2015 the Movie We Watched Was a Streetcar Named Desire. It Was About a Woman Who Was Visiting Her Sister and Brother

...A Streetcar Named Desire Faisal Aldahami THE 100 JONES June 14, 2015 The movie we watched was A Streetcar Named Desire. It was about a woman who was visiting her sister and brother in law but she did not get along with the brother in law. Her name was Blanche and the brother in law’s name was Stanley and the sister was Stella. Blanche had a weird personality because she thought she was richer and better than everyone. That’s why Stanley hated her. Also because Stella was defending her sister. Blanche met one of Stanley’s friends named Mitch and she was trying to be close with him because he loved her. The movie was a strange movie because Blanche was acting crazy a lot of times but she was trying to do it in a normal way and act normal. This movie was made a long time ago and it was black and white. I don’t like this kind of movie because there is not much action and some good designs or graphics. Also the quality is kind of hard to see details. In this old kind of movies the English is a little bit different English than today so sometimes it is hard to understand for international student or foreign people. Also one thing I don’t like is the story because it is a little bit boring with just one story about Blanche. It was confusing because of the way they were talking and their actions. Sometimes you could see that the situation was angry and uncomfortable but they were being quiet. And sometimes the situation was fine then all of a sudden someone......

Visiting a Museum

...There have been many theories regarding how the pyramids at Giza were constructed. Most experts agree that they were constructed as burial monuments for pharaohs, but “how” these ancient people constructed monuments of such great size without modern machinery is a mystery which is still being debated. There are many unusual theories in regard to the building of the Great Pyramid of Giza. When turning back the pages of history, it is revealed that a number of theories have been developed to clarify the existence of such a significant historical landmark. "Theories vary from a tomb for a king, a beacon for extraterrestrial aircraft's(Aliens), a possible way to contact a Higher Being and a stone announcement of the second coming of Christ. A well-known Greek historian Herodotus traveled to Egypt in the 5th century. While in Egypt Herodotus visited the pyramids and came to the conclusion that the pyramids were built by Hebrew slaves ruled by a pharaoh named Khufu. Today this theory is acknowledged by most people. However, there lies a dilemma with this theory, which is its credibility. First, where there a lot of slaves available to build the pyramids under the labor conditions of that time? Second, there was no proof whatsoever of there being any type of slavery near Giza during the time of the Old Kingdom, which is the time during which the pyramids were thought to, have been built. Third, Egyptian documents were found for everything: giving birth, farming, building of......

Visiting Religious Place

...Yee Rae Sheen World Religion Feb 27, 2012 Visiting a Religious Service I went to The Boston Synagogue on February 24th to attend their 6:30 p.m. Friday service. There were only seven people when I came in but they were friendly even though they seemed curious why I was there. When I told them I am just visiting for my class assignment, they seemed understanding and were pleased to answer my questions. As soon as I start writing, the lady said she knew it is going to happen so she was waiting to tell me but nobody can write in the Synagogue but memorize what they see and talk about. But the lady invited me to have a sweet wine and bread with them. After the service, people went to a social room and had conversations. I asked a guy if the bread and wine have certain meaning having Jesus giving out bread and wine to represent his body and blood but they were not related. According to the people at the service, the Friday service usually takes from forty five mins to one hour. They start singing the prayers in the book called ‘Nashira Shabbat’, which goes in reverse way since the Hebrew is read from right to left and is composed of prayers from Psalms, and then talk about the Torah that they start reading from the beginning every year and finish reading and discussing by the end of the year. But the day I went to was special since the rabbi trainee wanted to sing only and talk about the Bible longer on the Saturday service, which goes about two and a half hours. The......
