Telmex Colombia S.A. incursionó en el mercado colombiano en el año 2000, sin embrago, inició sus operaciones a partir del año 2004, cuando su casa matriz adquirió AT&T Latin America, con lo cual obtuvo una participación del 1% del mercado colombiano en la prestación de servicios de internet. Adicional a la entrada en Colombia, esta adquisición le permitió expandir sus operaciones a otros países de Latinoamérica, con la finalidad de aprovechar las oportunidades de crecimiento derivadas de cada mercado en el cual se ha incursionado, permitiendo satisfacer las necesidades de nuestros clientes con un servicio integral de alta calidad y diversificando sus servicios.

While in Colombia there is a law authorizing and regulating bullfighting, municipal authorities have the duty to compile and facilitate the implementation of such shows. Furthermore, although they may take steps to avoid unnecessary suffering, the authorities cannot "interfere with the ritual of bullfighting": that is, they cannot object to the death of the bull without a law thus empowered and at this time no exists in the country. By six votes in favor and three against Constitutional Court of Colombia has ruled in favor of bullfighting and against prohibitionists. In this regard, the Court decreed that mayors have no legal powers to ban bullfighting in those localities where there is a tradition and culture bullfighting. That ruling overturns the recent ban on bullfighting in Bogota where the mayor, Gustavo Petro, had decided that the Santa Maria bullring and bullfighting spectacles not give and devote to mere "cultural". As in the article there is an interview of the formal financial minister of Colombia, I think it would be interesting to compliment it with my point of view of the Colombian situation. As you mentioned, Colombia has being relying its growth in commodities with no added value as oil, carbon, chemicals and gold; but with the internal war, the situation is a little bit more complicated. On the first hand, Colombia´s agricultural exploitation didn’t started too long ago as the level of war didn’t allow it. This means that the level of production is still far from its real potential, not only because productivity is very low, but also because the level of empty/nonproductive land is extremely high. As a result, even if we are talking about commodities, Colombia should keep on developing agriculture but in a more productive way. In this regard, three actions must be carrying on: * Very high investment in infrastructure: this is one of the biggest problems that faces the country, affecting both agriculture and industry. At the present there is barely river navigation, there are no train railways and highways are embarrassing. * Technology: Production in Colombia is very rustic and as a result, productivity is very low. The company should have either provided a translator who could be at the couple’s service whenever needed, or the couple should have taken some sort of introductory course to help them learn the basics of the language.
