...Journal #1 My speech wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it could have been better if I put more time into getting more information from my partner. The body paragraphs needed to give more information and go into more detail. Although it wasn’t that bad of a speech giving the thought that we met up for about thirty minutes. Back in high school when someone was giving a speech, we, the audience always tried to make them laugh, or simply just didn’t pay attention to the speaker and did something else. Now the audience was paying attention and being respectful which calmed me down when giving my speech. As the speaker I needed to be more enthusiastic while giving my speech, because how is the audience going to be interested if I don’t even seem interested. I noticed very few people glancing at their phones or just with a blank look in their face; this made me relax a little more for some reason. Even though I could have had more information and gone more into detail, my speech did flow from the thesis statement to my conclusion paragraph. I was getting more nervous as the names kept getting closer to mine, once my partner Aldo, brought me up when he gave his speech, which calmed my nervousness down a bit because it wasn’t that bad being in front of the class and having everyone’s eyes looking at you. Once my turn came to speak, I took deep breaths as I made my way to the front of the classroom, and once there I paused, and took one last deep breath, and......

...Homework: persuasive Speech Self-Assessment May 3, 2014 The topic nursing was appropriate for my audience. Even though the majority of my audience. My specific purpose in the speech was to persuade my audience about the benefits of nursing and the choices in career path that they can choose. I feel that it was achieved successfully in the amount of time I had. Additionally, my thesis statement was also clearly which I am sure we can all relate to that you will never forget the way someone makes you feel even if you forget their names clearly stated. The speech was well organized from beginning to end. The major functions of the speech introduction were accomplished by initially getting the attention of the audience although The conclusion reinforced the audience’s understanding of the information presented and was tied to the central idea of the benefits of nursing Adequate research was conducted. There were four APA citations. All language presented was pronounced correctly and non-technical terms were used for overall understanding. The presentation of my speech was not rushed. However, somewhere along my notes my cards were mixed up, however I continued and just diverted to the card I should be reading from. It was a bit difficult to maintain my concentration but I kept the flow. This is evident in the review of my speech where I can be seen looking at my notes. Appropriate pauses, pitch, tone and rate were used throughout my speech. This was evident during...

...Erinn Elledge COMS203-1501A-08 Laticia Dezell 01/23/2015 Speech # 1 I Have a Dream August 28, 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. The speaker gained the attention of the audience of all the people who joined in the demonstration for freedom for the Negro’s. The topic of his speech is for freedom for the Negro, the Emancipation Proclamation. He is trying to stop discrimination for those of color. The facts and explanations that support his arguments are Constitution and Declaration of Independence are two very important explanations of the freedom all men even black. Civil Rights are a good example of his speech. Martin Luther King Jr. delivery of this speech was very good. He not only emphasized with loudness but you could hear the trembling in his voice when he would say something that was of great importance and he would raise his voice even higher. He was very enthusiastic when speaking of the freedom that the people should get and how some day he hoped the children would be able to walk the streets just as white people were able to. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded people throughout his speech that “I Have a Dream” he wasn’t talking only of himself but for all blacks in our nation. He emphasized what he wanted to see some day. His hopes and dreams for a better country. I believe in this speech he did well throughout, there really isn’t just one section or another that I liked better it was all wonderful....

...Speech 1 “A Time for Choosing” by Ronald Reagan 1. Ronald Reagan gained the audience attention by his opening statement “ I’ve been permitted to choose my own words and ideas” 2. The topic was A Time for Choosing, it was a presidential candidate speech concerning the upcoming election which was going to be held in a few week. It explained his standpoint and views on the hot topics such as the war and the economy 3. Ronald Regan stated that he once was a democrat but felt that the issues facing the nation required him to cross the line. He is quoted as saying” those who have the most have did the least to prevent it from happening”. He stated that freedom is fragile. The government doesn’t control things without controlling people. 4. Ronald Regan was an excellent speaker. His speech flowed well. There were times he used jokes to lighten the mood as well as a way to relate to the listeners. When he was making appoint his voice became more stern and serious. 5. He transitioned into his conclusion by quoting Alexander Hamilton 6. I feel he did well by using stories; for example, the story about the Cuban who said that he had a place to go for freedom, but we as Americans have no place else to go for peace 7. The only improvements I think should have been made would have been not using the names of people for joke examples Speech 2 “Acres of Diamonds” by Russell H Conwell 1. ...The Longest Day, the Shortest Speech http://vsotd.com/featured-speech/longest-day-shortest-speech#sthash.5hXfbsUi.dpuf "The troops, the air and the Navy did all that Bravery and devotion to duty could do." Address by Dwight D. Eisenhower Written in case of failure of D-Day Invasion, Normandy, France on June 6, 1944 In my analysis of this speech, I have found that the speech fails to adhere to the guidelines of informative speech. Although it meets a few of the guidelines, the speech overall is unsuccessful in the essence of providing the vital information needed to make it a worthy informative speech. In it’s opening sentence, the speech violates the guideline “Don’t be too technical”. The speaker’s use of words such as “landings” and “foothold” are technical jargons that the ordinary audience would not be able to fully comprehend. His speech is more directed towards the military savvy audience than the common citizen and leaves a lot to be desired. The speaker could have improved his speech by using less specialized words. Although sometimes, it becomes difficult to put military terms in easy to understand language, the speaker could have used words such as “attack” in lieu of “landings” and “control” instead of “foothold”. This would have made it much easier for the audience to understand and relate to the scene. Also, in the opening sentence, the speaker violates another guideline “Don’t overestimate what the audience knows” about the topic. He refers to......

Sales Promotion Technique Sales promotions are techniques that marketing departments use to build interest in the purchase of a good or service during a specified period of time. There are four main key sales promotion techniques including discounts and deals, increasing industry visibility, price-based consumer sales promotion, and attention-getting consumer sales promotion. The examples from the Coca-Cola Company are immense in marketing savvy and use, there also is an abundance of public information available in which to analyze and see clearly some of the methods in use. When using the process of discount and deal promotion, the manufacturing company offers the product at a discounted rate. The two types of discount and deal promotions are merchandising and case allowance. When Coca-Cola offers a merchandising allowance, they pay or give discounts to the store or other retailer for creating an off-shelf display of the products. In the case of...

...Sales are used by the business to increase revenue and cash flow. With the potential for manipulation of order quantities, price, delivery locations, creation of false customers and misappropriation of funds or merchandise the area of sales requires control to ensure proper cash and a consistent flows of capital (Louwers, Ramsay, Sinason, & Strawser, 2007). The proposed controls for sale are: 1. Create an organizational chart of how is responsible for selling, authorizing sales, approving credit, entering orders, custody of products, recording sales in accounts receivable, collecting cash, recording receipt of cash, and entering sales into the ledgers. 2. The following files should be created to help control sales. • Credit check files • Price list master file • Pending order file • Sales detail 3. General ledger master file. 4. Record all sales on pre-numbered forms. 5. All sales require an accompanying customer purchase order. 6. Sales are documented on sequential numbered forms. 7. Perform credit checks on customers. 8. Vouch address, and phone number of customers 9. Establish credit limits for each customer. 10. Date all sales orders. 11. ...is defined as “the total expected sales of a given product or service for the entire industry in a specific market over a stated period of time” (Spiro & Stanton, 2008, p. 351). The tablet market potential in 2011 was around 116 million units. In 2012, the tablet market potential is expected to grow at the same rate if not more with the number of units totaling 140 million. The market potential for the iPad 2 also can be stated for men and women ages 16-55 years of age in multiple countries around the world. Sales Potential Market potential overviews the forecasted amount of units that will be sold for the industry and not the organization itself. If Apple wants to determine how the organization can capitalize on the 120 million units expected to sell in the tablet industry for 2012, the company must determine the sales potential for the iPad2. Sales potential refers to the “maximum share (or percentage) of market potential that an individual firm can reasonably expect to achieve” (Spiro & Stanton, 2008, p. 351). In the second half of 2011, the iPad 2 has accounted for 68.3% of the approximately 116 million units sold in the tablet market (Peckham, 2011). It is reasonable to agree that in the coming years Apple can expect to see between 55 to 60% market share in the tablet market. In 2012, Apple’s sales potential for the iPad 2 can be predicted to be 55% with the release of newer tablets from Amazon, Samsung, and Barnes & Noble. Sales Forecast In 2011 the iPad 2......

...Downloading in the digital age In the past decade CD sales have drop where there has been a rapid growth in the download of a signal song or album. The question at hand is what has made the change come along so fast? Could it be the fact that people use there iPod, mp3 player, or phone? What was the kick starter in the digital age ? The start of downloading music came along with Napster. Shawn Fanning was a freshman in Northeastern University in 1999, and he decided to create Napster which, was a piece of software that would let people share their mp3 files that where hard to find. This didn’t cost the user anything to use it. In Dec 1999 the legal battles began with Napster vs. the recording Industry Association of America, Metallica, and many others. The lawsuit that came about was based on infringing upon copyright laws. The legal battle came to an end in September 2001, and Napster was changed forever; with artists having final say over which songs could be shared on the platform. Napster wasn’t the end of the peer to peer networking of sharing music between users on the internet. There was Kazza thatsers could use. This came at a cost because, it was load with adware, spyware, and let’s not forget about the illegal downloading of something you don’t own. Even if you installed Kazza the spyware and, adware was still there. Kazza was shut down dew to copyright infringement. There are still programs out there that let user download music like......
