Fareed makes a great point in his article regarding the decline of America and its fate. He mentions that the main story is not Islamic terrorism but the fate of the United States 50 years from now. George W. Bush had inherited a budget surplus from the Bill Clinton. America was the “indispensable nation,". Currently today the US is a deeply divided country in social terms. Thiers’s a big gap between rich and poor such as the day of the recession. The country is fighting with itself internally. It has a Congress where there is conflict between the right (Republican) and the left (Democrats) and where they don't even want to talk to each other to discuss on a resolution for Americas bankruptcy problems and threats. The reason the U.S became great was because of its openness and democratic way. Now, it has become distrustful against foreigners, and anyone who is different which is not the theology the U.S was founded on . In U.S territory now we hunt down illegal immigrants and many people can still not accept having a black president in the White House. It’s interesting to see in the article how the event of 9/11 is attributed to the decline of America. No matter how you measure it, the United States remains the single most influential country economically, politically, diplomatically and militarily. For most of the past years, the U.S. economy has grown at a steady, generating higher incomes and wealth for American people. But since 2000 there has been a sharp decline in that trend of growth. The past decade has been the worst for the U.S. The U.S has been faced with high unemployment, stagnant wages, the protracted debate over raising the government debt ceiling and the downgrade of U.S. The problem of America’s decline is worsened by the rise of other power countries. There are other countries that have the potential towards achieving superpower status within the…...

...Progress Avenue Toronto, Ontario M5B1M4 Dear Professor: I am happy to show you my research project on the topic “ Prospects of Canadian Trade and Investment with the Next Eleven”. In the research I have shown that the economic growth of the N-11 countries is likely to increase on a large scale in the years to come. Most of the major countries of the world are focusing on investing in BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) but they are least concerned in investing with the N-11. In my research i have shown that investing in N-11 can prove out to be very profitable. I have particularly focused the trade and investment relationship between Canada and one of the Next Eleven countries that is Vietnam. In my research you can see the raw and products that Canada is exporting to Vietnam. The GDP of Vietnam is increasing rapidly year by year. Canada export business with Vietnam is rising up as the time is passing by. Canada is exporting the products that Vietnam needs. I have attached my research project paper along with this cover letter. I hope that my project will provide some value and knowledge about the subject though it being my first research project. Thanking You Yours sincerely Canada Exporting and Investing in N-11 (Vietnam) Abstract: - In this research project, I would like to show how Canada is investing in the Next Eleven countries particularly Vietnam. What Was I Doing on Sept. 11 2001

...Jozelle Fleming RHT 101 026 Monday October 1, 2012 What was I doing on September 11, 2001? It was like any other morning. I woke up at around 8:00 am to use the bathroom as I normally do at around the same time every day, because being 8 ½ months pregnant can really put a strain on a person’s bladder. So as I was saying I went to the bathroom and lay back down and turned on the T.V. It really wasn’t much on so I started flipping through the channels and I stopped on the news channel. Now it was like around 8:50 am and what I saw on the screen just looked like any regular accident. It was lots of smoke and fire. I never thought this was a evil plan put together by some very evil people. (I would like to say what I really believe, but that would be another story) So as I continued watching the live footage, you see people running and people trying to help and others just watching wondering what the hell was going on. At about 9 o’clock you see another plane fly low and BOOM!! It hit the second tower. Now as I’m watching this I’m screaming and yelling at the T.V. screen like “WATCH OUT”!, Like they could hear me or something. Then it hit me at that exact moment all I could think was “O My God”, we are under attack. I could remember at that moment my stomach started hurting and I started feeling very scared. And all I could ask myself is “Do I really want to have my baby in this crazy world”? So of course now this terrible event that was taking place was now......

Summary of relevant (key) facts As the case depicts, ‘Jupiter’ is a joint venture formed by 2 unrelated parties, Saturn Inc. and Venus Inc. Jupiter has been created with the purpose of owning and operating organic clothing manufacturing and design facilities and selling the output to unrelated retailers. The key facts highlighted in the case are as follows: * The proportion of Saturn’s and Venus’s ownership interest( as determined by their capital contribution) in Jupiter is 51 percent and 49 percent respectively; same is the ratio in which Jupiter’s profit and losses are shared between the two parties * From Saturn’s viewpoint, Jupiter fails to qualify for joint venture scope exception stated in ASC 810-10-15-17(d) * In accordance with ASC 810-10-25-42 and 25-43, Saturn and Venus cannot be considered as related parties * As pursued by ASC 810-10-15-14(a), Jupiter is viewed as a Variable Interest Entity due to the entity’s nature and the amount of equity investment at risk * Jupiter’s Articles of Incorporation requires a majority vote for approval of most of the Board’s decisions, with the exception of decisions concerning the CEO’s appointment or removal, mergers or acquisitions, admitting new members into the joint......

...the terrorist, was strictly domestic. But it was too late. The damage had been done. Because America jumped to conclusions then, America was later blind to see the impending attack of 9/11. The responsibility, however, is not to be placed on the America people. The public couldn’t stand to hear any talk of terrorism, so in turn the White House irresponsibly took a similar attitude. They concentrated on high public opinion and issues that were relevant to Americans everyday. The government didn’t want to deal with another public blunder like the one in Oklahoma City. A former FBI analyst recalls, “when I went to headquarters (Washington, D.C.) later that year no one was interested in hearing anything about Arab money connections unless it had something to do with funding domestic groups. We stumbled so badly on pinpointing the Middle East right off the bat on the Murrah bombing. No one wanted to get caught like that again,”(Posner 90). All of these decisions, made at the hands of the faint-hearted, opened the doors wide open, and practically begged for a terrorist attack. So who’s fault is it? The public’s for being unaware, uninterested, and inadvertently the driving force behind American Democracy? No, of course not, that would be a completely ridiculous idea. In the events of September 11, 2001, the United States Government, by ignoring signs of a terrorist attack and continuous blunders in American intelligence, failed to accomplish one of their basic responsibilities as......

Unemployment compensation taxes are paid by the employer on the first $7,000 of annual earnings for each employee. Come Sept

...power, a financial king, and a war tyrant as well. The innocent lives lost and destroyed never touch our comfortable luxurious living rooms. For many people, myself included, this seems like the worst possible problem. Trying to change the core values of an entire nation is an enormous task; a task that for some individuals, may seem rather impossible. If you are innocent then why did you run and hide? Arundhati Roy uses this type of questioning when considering the U.S. government in “Come September.” One suspicious tactic is the widely used label of “anti-American.” American establishments have tried to single out critics and protesters referring to them as “anti-American”. This mixed with the constant reminder of the September 11 attack dubbed “9/11” gives citizens the feeling that if you are not a war zealot then you might as well be a terrorist. I myself have felt as though if I do not strongly support the governments actions then I am betraying my county and my fellow man. As Arundhati Roy states,An anti-national is a person who is against her own nation and, by inference, is pro some other one. But it isn’t necessary to be anti-national to be deeply suspicious of all nationalism to be anti-nationalism. This is one way of showing that the U.S. government is bullying its own people but few will argue the fact that George Bush has taken up the hobby of waving a fist at other countries as well. Consider what to many is common knowledge. In 1996 the McDonald’s company......

...the friction and the controversy that comes with public affairs. It is easier to fall in step with the slogans of others than to march to the beat of the internal drummer – to make and stand on judgments of our own. And it is far easier to accept and stand on the past, than to fight for the answers of the future There is always room at the top * Daniel Webster 1. This quote from Daniel Webster is a prime example of how it is very easy to become mediocre and average but to become great you need to make uncomfortable decisions. I think this highlights American culture because Americans are known to have great ingenuity. We find a way to be at the top in the world in all aspects ( military, sports, business, etc.). Pg. 11 All of us, from the wealthiest to the young children that I have seen in this country, in this year, bloated by starvation – we all share one precious possession, and that is the name American. It is not easy to know what that means. But in part to be an American means to have been an outcast and a stranger, to have come to the exiles’ country, and to know that he who denies the outcast and stranger still amongst us, he also denies America. “History has placed us all, Northerner and Southerner, black and white, within a common border and under a common law. All of us, from the wealthiest and most powerful of men, to the weakest and hungriest of children, share one precious possession: the name American.” - John F.......

The Enduring Traumas of Sept. 11

...The Enduring Traumas of Sept. 11 Summary In the essay “The Enduring Traumas of Sept. 11” written by Damon Linker, he addresses the attack that occurred on September 11th of 2001 with what he went through that day of the attack and how he feels about the United states war that has been occurring throughout the years of America history. On the morning of Sept.11, 2001 it was like any other day for Linker going to work from Fairfield, Connecticut to the street of 5th Avenue. At his cross-town stroll to the office of First Thing magazine where he heard a very loud roar out of nowhere and glammed upward to see a passenger jet which was alarming to him and it was before Sept, 11. Linker mostly spent his entire life in New York City which made him have the memories of the Twin Tower always being there but this time he witnessed a huge horizontal gash of the right-hand tower and a massive amount of smoke floating in the sky above it. He immediately call his wife to turn on the TV for the news about the freak accident he nearly witnessed. He then returned to the street and gaze in shock at the horrifying scene unfolding two miles away for him. He called his father which immediately reminds him of his younger brother whom was attending a conference on Wall street that morning. He talked to his father on the phone to about burying his youngest son later that week, Linker's brother. The crushing of the Twin Towers being worse than it could have been at least for him. Linker's other......

Sept 11

... On the morning of September 11, 2001 at about 8:45 a.m., a hijacked passenger jet, American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, Massachusetts, crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center tearing an immense hole in the building and setting it afire. Unexpectedly 15 minutes after the first plane had crashed, a second hijacked airliner, United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston, crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center. Also, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. United Airlines Flight 93, also hijacked, never reached its destination in Washington, D.C. The planned attack on the White House was thwarted when passengers on the plane confronted the terrorist and caused the plane to crash in a field in Pennsylvania. Immediately and for the first time in U.S. history, air traffic nation wide had been halted. Nearly three thousand people were killed in these attacks. This tragic event was planned and financed by Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden and was just one step in his proclaimed "Holy War" against the United States and its allies. Bin Laden believed that the Muslim world should unite in this war against the United States and hoped that the September 11th actions would provoke the U. S. into retaliating thus giving cause for the Muslim nations to band together in a world wide effort to destroy the United States. Bin Laden's reportedly justified this attack by saying that it was in retaliation for the U.S.'s support of Israel, its role in......

The Events of 9/11

...9/11 There are many factors and events that have impacted and changed America from 1946-2012. One major event from this time period was the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, which is referred to as 9/11. 9/11 was one of the worst terrorist attacks in American history, and changed the country forever. This article will be discussing 9/11 in detail. In particular, we will go over the events that led up to the attack and who was involved. After that the details of the attack will be discussed as far as how the attack was done and what was affected by it. Lastly, the article will discuss the events that took place after 9/11, and what would be done to bring justice to the criminals responsible for the attack. There were a lot of events that took place before 9/11 that occurred in the 90s and early 00s between America and Islamic groups like the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden and his followers were involved in many attacks in the 90s, and were being closely watched by the UN and America. In the late 90s, America was getting fed up with bin Laden’s ways. An article from Fox News explains some of America’s earlier involvement with bin Laden: “Aug. 28, 1998 -- FBI accuses bin Laden of having declared "jihad," or holy war, against United States. Complaint also alleges bin Laden founded Al Qaeda that year to promote Islamic fundamentalism and force non-Muslims out of Muslim countries.” (Associated Press, 2002) Bin Laden’s......
