Nuclear medicine is a specialized branch of modern medicine that exploits the process of radioactivity for imaging, diagnosis, and treatment. Many imaging techniques inject small amounts of radioactive material into the body, which are then tracked by a sensing device specific to the type of radiation emitted from that material. Radiation has also been used to destroy diseased tissue, typically beyond the reach of standard surgical techniques. Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, write a paper on nuclear medicine. Address the following: • Explain the scientific and technical concepts related to nuclear medicine. Consider the following questions when you construct your response: o What type of radiation is typically exploited in most nuclear medicine procedures? o How are patients prepared for nuclear medicine procedures? o What are the advantages and limitations of nuclear medicine? o What ailments are typically diagnosed and treated via nuclear medicine procedures?
• Evaluate a minimum of three applications of nuclear medicine relating to any of the following topics: o Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans o Gallium scans o Indium white blood cell scans o Iobenguane scans (MIBG) o Octreotide scans o Hybrid scanning techniques employing X-ray computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) o Nuclear medicine therapy using radiopharmaceuticals Support your statements with examples. Provide a minimum of three scholarly references.

...SCI 115 Dr. Barbosa Assignment # 1 Paper due Week 4 By Susan B. 10/26/12 Photosynthesis is an amazing process that transpires inherently and is one that is required for all living organisms to sustain existence on this planet. The efficiency of this process has sparked inventions, such as the semiconductor-based solar cell, that would allow humans to produce energy in a way that is very similar to that of a plant’s photosynthetic process. In this paper, I will compare and contrast the photosynthetic process with that of semiconductor-based solar cells in their capacities to generate energy while also explaining the application of thermodynamics to each process. In order to discuss the photosynthesis and the semiconductor-based solar cell, it is crucial to understand what is involved in each process and how they could be different or the same. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and some bacteria use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, the fuel used by all living things. The solar cell connects solar energy to convert it into electricity, which is required by all humans. This process can be understood as solar electricity, which is created by using Photovoltaic technology, which is converting solar energy into solar electricity from sunlight. This system is providing sunlight to everyday use constituents such as computers, lighting and electrical equipment. The foremost contrast between......

Can the human race take action to stop global warming? Choice Three – Is genetic engineering the answer to ending global hunger? Choice Four – Should cars be more efficient? Choice Five – Is wind power green? Based on material obtained in class as well as outside material, you must: 1. Present both sides of the argument. You may address one side at a time or point-by-point. It is important to maintain an unbiased approach and to fully discuss both sides of the issue. ...Nuclear Medicine Brenda L. Clark Argosy University Contemporary Applications of the Sciences Module 4 Assignment 2 Dr. Frankin Barrish Nuclear medicine is being used to help fight diseases as well as being able to take Images of an individual’s body (News Medical, 2015). The radioactive substance works with the nuclear medicine and this is important because it aids with looking inside the opaque human body (News Medical, 2015). Within this paper you will read how the technical and scientific perceptions relate to nuclear medicine. The most common radiation is radiopharmaceutical in regards to nuclear medicine procedures that are being done today (American Cancer Society, 2015). The radiopharmaceutical is the radioactive pharmaceutical and is used in diagnosing and treating diseases such as cancer (American Cancer Society, 2015). This type of radiation is injected, ingested, or inhaled in the individual’s body before the doctor is able to diagnose what the individual is dealing with (Mosby Dictionary, 2009). The imaging technique is how the doctor is able to do this. This type of radiation is also used for relieving pain or help to treat the disease. This type of radiation operates once it is hosted within the body and then travels to certain areas that have abnormality (Mosby Dictionary, 2009). The radioactive part of the pharmaceutical releases the gamma rays and then the gamma camera is able to pick it up (Mosby Dictionary, 2009). This is how a......
