The term nuclear power refers to the production of electrical energy via controlled nuclear reactions. These reactions generate heat that, in turn, creates steam that runs the generators to produce electricity. Approximately 1/8th of the electricity produced in the world is derived from nuclear power. In this assignment, you will analyze the use of nuclear power as an energy resource.
Respond to the following:
•Discuss the scientific and technical concepts related to the use of nuclear power as an energy resource. Address the following in your response: oHow is energy released in a nuclear reaction? oHow are nuclear reactions controlled? oWhat elements are involved in nuclear power production? oWhat nuclear forces are involved?
•Explain the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy, detailing issues related to production, delivery, cost, radiation, air quality, and waste.
•Identify a country whose electricity production infrastructure relies heavily on nuclear power. Compare and contrast the use of nuclear power in the United States with the use of nuclear power in this country. Provide examples of the use of nuclear power in your community or state.
•Consider the three major nuclear accidents in the history of the industry: 3-Mile Island (USA), Chernobyl (Ukraine), and Fukushima Dai-Ichi (Japan). What lessons have been learned from these nuclear accidents that can be or have been used to make nuclear power safer?

...SCI 115 Dr. Barbosa Assignment # 1 Paper due Week 4 By Susan B. 10/26/12 Photosynthesis is an amazing process that transpires inherently and is one that is required for all living organisms to sustain existence on this planet. The efficiency of this process has sparked inventions, such as the semiconductor-based solar cell, that would allow humans to produce energy in a way that is very similar to that of a plant’s photosynthetic process. In this paper, I will compare and contrast the photosynthetic process with that of semiconductor-based solar cells in their capacities to generate energy while also explaining the application of thermodynamics to each process. In order to discuss the photosynthesis and the semiconductor-based solar cell, it is crucial to understand what is involved in each process and how they could be different or the same. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and some bacteria use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, the fuel used by all living things. The solar cell connects solar energy to convert it into electricity, which is required by all humans. This process can be understood as solar electricity, which is created by using Photovoltaic technology, which is converting solar energy into solar electricity from sunlight. This system is providing sunlight to everyday use constituents such as computers, lighting and electrical equipment. The foremost contrast between......

...There is SCI 207 Week 3 Assignment Global Warming in this pack. Sociology - General Sociology Focus of the Final Paper You are required to critically analyze one of the following five (5) environmental issues that have been addressed in Contemporary Environmental Issues and the associated course material to demonstrate your comprehension of the fundamental characteristics associated with the concept of a sustainable world. The Final Paper should incorporate student research, assigned readings, class discussions, and personal experience. Environmental Issues Choice One – Are alternative energy sources the answer to ending human dependence on oil? Choice Two –Is global warming due to human actions? Can the human race take action to stop global warming? Choice Three – Is genetic engineering the answer to ending global hunger? Choice Four – Should cars be more efficient? Choice Five – Is wind power green? Based on material obtained in class as well as outside material, you must: 1. Present both sides of the argument. You may address one side at a time or point-by-point. It is important to maintain an unbiased approach and to fully discuss both sides of the issue. In other words, the answers “yes” and “no” should be thoroughly explored for the question/issue you select. 2. Discuss the impact of this environmental issue on a sustainable world, and provide a critical analysis of the current issue. The paper must be eight......

...SCI 115 M4 Assignment 2 Nuclear Medicine Click Link Below To Buy: http://hwaid.com/shop/sci-115-m4-assignment-2-nuclear-medicine/ Nuclear medicine is a specialized branch of modern medicine that exploits the process of radioactivity for imaging, diagnosis, and treatment. Many imaging techniques inject small amounts of radioactive material into the body, which are then tracked by a sensing device specific to the type of radiation emitted from that material. Radiation has also been used to destroy diseased tissue, typically beyond the reach of standard surgical techniques. Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, write a paper on nuclear medicine. Address the following: • Explain the scientific and technical concepts related to nuclear medicine. Consider the following questions when you construct your response: o What type of radiation is typically exploited in most nuclear medicine procedures? o How are patients prepared for nuclear medicine procedures? o What are the advantages and limitations of nuclear medicine? o What ailments are typically diagnosed and treated via nuclear medicine procedures? • Evaluate a minimum of three applications of nuclear medicine relating to any of the following topics: o Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans o Gallium scans o Indium white blood cell scans o Iobenguane scans (MIBG) o Octreotide scans o Hybrid scanning techniques employing X-ray......
