STUDI KASUS :
Royal Bee Electric Fishing Reel

Beberapa data-data yang dapat mendukung Royal Barton dalam pengambilan keputusan : (Sumber : 2011 National Survey Fishing, Hunting, and WildLife Association in USA by US Fish & Wildlife Service)

Gambar 1.

In late 2007, the Clorox Company acquired Burt's Bees for the reported sum of USD 925 mil. Not bad at all! It started out as a life style business to become a high potential venture, far exceeding original expectations and forecasts. The Red Bee Sting Ronald

...The Red Bee Stings Ronald (Why Jollibee beats McDonald’s) “There is no sincerer love than the love of food.” This is what George Bernard Shaw quoted in the film Man and Superman. Yes, it is indeed an undeniable truth that we Filipinos really do love to eat. Maybe this has been the idea behind the fast food chains that pop up like mushrooms and spread like viruses in the Philippines. Restaurants, carinderias, food stalls and fast food chains: it is not hard to look for them in wherever place in the Philippines. We all know that when we say “fast food”, two major chains instantly come up to our minds: Jollibee and McDonald’s, and we know that ever since, they have been rivals even they say that they both have the same mission and that is to serve and make their Filipino customers happy through the food they prepare. Though they serve almost the same types of food, how come Jollibee beats Mcdonald’s? What do you think that red, happy bee has that the clown in yellow with a big smile has not? Before finding out the real reason that lies behind that, in order to come up with a systematic answer, let us first try to answer this question: “Why do people go to fast food chains?” Just like what I have mentioned a while ago, Filipinos has an extreme passion for food. It has already been a part of our culture to be lovers of food. But, not all can prepare food… right? I mean we all know how to eat but not all of us know how to cook. So, we ask......

Royal Ahold

...Headquartered in the Netherlands, Royal Ahold is one of the world’s largest international retail grocery and food service companies. At its peak in 2001, Ahold’s reported sales and profits were €66.6 billion and €1.1 billion and it operated 5,155 stores in 27 countries with nearly a quarter of a million employees. Ahold was started as a family firm in 1887 by the Heijn family. It was a family-controlled business, operating primarily in the Netherlands for over 100 years. The company went public in 1948. In 1989, Ahold underwent a major transition from a family-controlled to a management controlled firm. This transition resulted in a phenomenal period of success for the firm. It generated over a 1,000% return for its shareholders and had a market capitalization of €30.6 billion by November 2001. In February 2003, Ahold witnessed a reversal of fortunes and suffered a complete meltdown. The firm was in a complete disastrous state with nothing going in their favour: a failed strategy, an accounting scandal, the firing of professional management, and litigation filings from all parts of the world. Shareholders lost most of their returns generated since 1989. Ahold scandal gave Europe a reason to believe that corporate governance and accounting problems were not restricted U.S. only. Ahold became “Europe’s Enron” (The Economist, March 1, 2003). It caused Dutch and European policymakers to rethink their approach to corporate governance and accounting policy. The Royal Ahold......

Royal Beatings

...Whether you’ve come from a home without much love, understanding or support, or maybe you have or are suffering from an illness, we have all had experiences at some point in our life that have profound affects in where we’ve come from and in shaping who we are. Take a look at Rose in ‘Royal Beatings’. Rose grows up poor in the back of a grocery/furniture repair store, experiences the loss of her own mother and is raised by her stepmother Flo and father. Before Flo assumed position of stepmother, she was witness to a beating of a man. Sadly, Flo goads Rose’s father to carry out punishments with beatings and threatens Rose with a ‘Royal Beating’ one day. Rose doesn’t know what a ‘royal beating’ is exactly and so conjures up in her mind what it could be. This is a life, whereby, I’m sure anybody would want to escape. Rose does so by withdrawing into a colorful and imaginative world within. In ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’, the author describes the yellow wallpaper as a revolting, smoldering unclean flamboyant pattern stripped in areas on the nursery walls of a temporary rented mansion while her permanent home is being renovated. The described walls alone tell the reader of how one may feel about their own life if this person is undergoing or being treated for temporary nervous depression. Her husband/physician assures her nothing is the matter and she simply just needs the “rest-cure” treatment. Like any person can change in how they feel from day to night, the yellow......

Royal Bodies

...Royal Bodies Hilary Mantel is an award-winning and bestselling British author. She is particularly famous for her historical novels. In her speech held at the London Review of Books lectures at the British Museum 2013, Hilary Mantel describes her stance towards the women of the British monarchy. The whole reflection on British female royalty started with a simple task; name a famous person and choose a book to give to them. Hilary Mantel chose Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge as her famous person, and the book she would give to her was Queen of Fashion; What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution. Hilary Mantel quickly states, that in no means does she believe that we are heading towards a revolution. Rather her choice rests on the fact, that she sees Kate as a mere shop-window mannequin, completely and utterly defined by her outfits and nothing else. She describes how Kate has no personality of her own. It does seem rather odd, to judge a person you’ve never met before, based on the way tabloids describe their fashion choices, frankly Kate could have the most amazing personality in the world, but how do you expect it to shine through the glossy pages of a gossip magazine? Nevertheless, she does not identify Kate with Marie Antoinette, rather she identifies the late mother-in-law of Kate with Marie Antoinette, Diana the People’s Princess. Marie Antoinette and Diana are described as “gliding, smiling disasters”. Where Kate is described as the cookie-cutter image of how a......

Profits measured by earnings before interest and taxation has increased for Royal Mail from £277 million in 2010/11 to £367 million in 2011/12. This is mainly due to revenue growth. Parcel revenue increased 13 per cent year on year, with letters revenue growing three per cent. Whilst this is strong year-on-year performance in profits for Royal Mail, profits as a percentage of revenues (referred to as “return on sales” in the table above) of 3.96% is a little lower than the 4.80% for Deutsche Post, but clearly much lower than the 7.70% for Austria Post. The lower return for Royal Mail can in part be attributed......

Medical Use of Honey Bee Products

...Medical Use of Honey Bee Products Apitherapy is the use of honey bee products in treating illnesses and diseases. Apis means “bee” while “therapy” is a treatment intended to relieve or heal a disorder. The different products derived from the beehive which can be used in apitherapy are: honey, pollen, propolis, venom, wax and royal jelly. Being from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, we all have been exposed to honey bees and their products in unique ways. Despite our differences, collectively, we share great interest in the application of honey, bee venom (BV) and propolis in contemporary medicinal practices. In the following paragraphs each member shares their personal exposure with bees and why they have an interest in the medicinal use of BV. Mai As a young boy, my father intentionally interfered with bees in order to get stung. Now, being an adult, he is immune to bee stings, showing no signs of inflammation after a bee sting. The first time I got stung by a bee I was 7 years old. It hurt so badly and one thing was sure: “I would not walk in my father’s footsteps, when it comes to the subject bee stings.” In university, a classmate mentioned that BV contains certain chemicals which are beneficial to multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Although my first experience was unpleasant, I started to believe that bees can be useful. Good story: it reveals the sources of your curiosities and it draws out social issues. Morayo “They sting! Royal Carribean

...Royal Caribbean Case This main focus of this case study is an analysis on the current situation (data from around 2Q of 2010). The case compares Royal Caribbean to its main competitor, Carnival, through the entirety of the study. The most discussed issue in the case is of Royal Caribbean and its situation relative to the world economy as its recovering from one of the worst recessions since the great depression. From where the timeline of the case begins (2Q of 2010) it had made a large recovery in profit and had cut costs as well. However, even despite the forecasts predicting a further increase in profit, Royal Caribbean along with the cruise line industry is still in a delicate position. The case constantly brings up the point that cruises are solely a purchase based off of discretionary income. In times of economic struggle, discretionary items like cruises are left out of the budget. Another issue that the case brought up with every factor discussed is Royal Caribbean being 2nd place in the world for market share, bested by Carnival Cruise Lines. The case goes back and forth debating whether or not its position within the market share is a good thing. While they by far are in 2nd place, Royal Caribbean has a special niche in the market being the luxury cruise liner with the newer and nicer ships. Overall, the largest theme in this case study is the uncertainty of the cruise industry with the unpredictable economy that may or may not be recovering. Strategic &......

Honey Bee

...Drones are produced from unfertilized eggs and therefore represent only the DNA of the queen that laid the eggs, i.e. have only a mother. Workers and queens result from fertilized eggs and therefore have both a mother and a father. A modified form of Parthenogenesis controls sex differentiation. The sex Allele is Polymorphic and so long as two different variants are present, a female bee results. If both sex alleles are identical, diploid drones are produced. Honeybees detect and destroy diploid drones after the eggs hatch. Queens typically mate with multiple drones on more than one mating flight. Once mated, they lay eggs and fertilize them as needed from sperm stored in the Spermatheca. Since the number of sex alleles is limited - about 18 are known in Apis - there is a high probability that a queen will mate with one or more drones having sex alleles identical with one of the sex alleles in the queen. It is therefore typical for a queen to produce a percentage of diploid drone eggs. [edit]Micrapis Apis florea and Apis andreniformis are small honey bees of southern and southeastern Asia. They make very small, exposed nests in trees and shrubs. Their stings are often incapable of penetrating human skin, so the hive and swarms can be handled with minimal protection. They occur largely sympatrically though they are very distinct evolutionarily and are probably the result of allopatric speciation, their distribution later converging. Given that A. florea is more widely......
