Businesses are constantly going through phases of change because of internal factors or external influences. Business needs to adapt or overcome the phases of changes to prevent possible failure. Business research is a vital tool companies use for ‘‘finding solutions to a problem after a thorough study and analysis of the situational factors’’. This paper will cover the various factors of business research and its purpose in a company.
Business research and purpose
Business research can be identified as a, ‘‘systematic and organized effort to investigate a specific problem encountered in the work setting that needs a solution.’’ Business research is a combination of steps designed and executed to end with developing solution(s) to the problem(s). Managers need to know the process of identifying problems and where to start applying new solution to help the business run effectively and efficiently
Explain the business problems under investigation

...Current Events in Business Research RES/351 Current Events in Business Research Introduction: This paper will describe the business research process of an article that I have chosen that is close to the area of management within a business that I will be using. I have chosen the article “Optimal spares and preventive maintenance frequencies for constrained industrial systems” P. Lynch 2013, to assess the research process used. Also, I will be discussing how the research is solving the problem. Finally I will identify other potential applications using business research. The research Problem: This case study is about the spare parts for maintenance, and it tries to give an explanation thru research for how a genetic algorithm can be made to make a model of what types of spare parts you will need with an accurate inventory. I find this article very interesting because this is one my problems at work that I’m trying to tackle. And giving an analogical approach to resolve my issue could be useful. This will be a great chance to practice my new skills in research. The Research Process Used: The research used a problem definition to clearly examine the problems that the research will help avoid or correct. The research has an outlined proposal has to how the problem could be resolved by using the genetic algorithm. I feel that the research was performed with high ethical standards to achieve the final results. The limitations are clearly defined with the......

The group is asserting that these materials are causing an environmental hazard that is seeping from a local landfill into a nearby stream. The group has also launched an internet campaign geared toward compelling fruit producers to stop purchasing our packing materials. The situation raises environmental issues that relate directly to the Clean Water Act and the Solid Waste Disposal Act. The overall goal of the Clean Water Act is to eliminate the discharge of pollutants in the navigable waters of the United States (Bagley, p.487). To be in violation of the Clean Water Act, the SafePack Materials Pollute group must have several elements present to prove a valid claim towards our company. First, the group must be able to prove that our product is truly the cause of the seepage from the landfill into the nearby stream. Other evidence that may be used as proof may include testimony from witnesses, photographs or video tapes. The group must also be able to prove if our company does or does not have a NPDES permit. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, a NPDES......

The stock attribution rules do not apply to stock held by a corporation if the shareholder owns less than 50% of the stock in that corporation. Thus, Beatrice would only own 550 shares, 300 shares directly and 250 shares owned by her husband (120 shares), daughter (80 shares), and grandson (50 shares). c. Beatrice would now own 675 shares in Silver, the 655 shares as computed in part a. above plus 20 shares as a result of her 20% Yellow Partnership interest [100 (shares owned by Yellow Partnership) X 20% (Beatrice’s interest in the partnership)]. Exhibit 5-1 36. a. All of the Hawk Corporation stock owned by Vulcan Corporation is deemed to be owned by Shonda. Therefore, Shonda must report the $60,000 as dividend income. The redemption does not qualify as a not essentially equivalent redemption. After the redemption, Shonda owns 53% of the stock of Hawk [95 (Vulcan shares deemed owned by Shonda) ÷ 180 (remaining outstanding shares in Hawk)]. Shonda still has the dominant control of Hawk; thus, there has not been a “meaningful reduction” in her interest in Hawk. Further, her remaining ownership interest fails the requirements for a disproportionate redemption or complete termination redemption. pp. 5-5 to 5-9 and Example 7 b. ...DQ 1 How would you define research? What is the purpose of business research? How has the Internet changed the quality and quantity of research? Kapil C. Mathur, MBA Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories. Research can be divided into different steps in order to understand the whole process more in depth. The first step towards conducting research is to observe. Consistst of the subject area of ones interest and following that subject area to conduct subject related research. The subject area should not be randomly chosen since it requires reading a vast amount of literature on the topic to determine the gap in the literature the researcher intends to narrow. A keen interest in the chosen subject area is advisable. The research will have to be justified by linking its importance to already existing knowledge about the topic. The next step is to create a hypothesis. This is where you create a testable prediction of outcome between 2 or more variables. The third step is to gather data which supports yor hypothesis. The fourth step is to analyze the data you have gathered. This involves breaking down the individual pieces of data in order to draw conclusions about it. the last two steps go somewhat hand-in-hand. These two steps are testing your hypothesis and drawing a conclusion from your......

From the data collected one can interpret that usually people over the age of forty tend to have expensive more extravagant cars because they have already established there careers and lives. Whereas, younger people tend to be in college and do not have jobs or having jobs that pay minimum wages and limits the amount of money that they can pay each month for the car payment.
