“What the people of Nogales need are actions not promises” (Moises Casal). These were Moises Casal’s last words before the Election Day in Nogales, Mexico. Moises is one of the two current local congressmen of Nogales, he represents the political party PAN. He won the elections July of 2008 and since then he has been working hard to help the citizens of Nogales. A local congressman suggests laws and initiatives to make the city more efficient and more comfortable to live but is not as easy as it sounds, sometimes they don’t all agree on the suggestions he makes or vice versa. His profession requires a large amount of integrity, nobility and honesty because many local congressmen instead of helping the city they have been caught stealing money from projects for the city. “Sometimes I feel really homesick” (Casal). His job makes him travel a lot to Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora. Hermosillo is 450 kilometers away from Nogales, it’s a 4 hour drive, and he stays in Hermosillo for days or even a whole week. These trips distance Moises from his family. He have miss many important family events like his sons college graduation , wedding anniversaries, and even he has been alone in a hotel room during his birthday, and I know all this because Moises Casal is no stranger to me, he is my uncle.
“Helping people has been one of my truth passions” (Casal). Moises always loved helping people since he was a little kid and that love for helping made him wanted to be a doctor. When he was 26 years old he graduated from medical school and became a otorhinolaryngologist and his life got better when he married my aunt Teresita. “The happiest day of my life was when I married my beautiful wife” (Casal).
“As a doctor I helped a lot of people, but I felt like could do more for my community” (Casal). Moises worked in the medical field for 20 years, and he noticed…...

...English 134 24 January 2012 The Man Behind the Camo, by Kelly McBride, is a profile that focuses on the author’s younger brother, Scott, and his experiences with the concept of manhood. McBride goes about this by describing past events like childhood traditions and activities that she shared with Scott, and then providing her own commentary and thoughts on the matter. McBride’s detailed recounting of her personal experiences helps make this piece a well-written profile because it effectively gives the reader insight into Scott’s childhood as well as their relationship as brother and sister. This firsthand source (memories written onto paper) helps the reader to feel as if they were really there, and makes them more aware of what the actual events were like and how they helped McBride come to the conclusions that she did about Scott and masculinity. The author uses both quotes and detailed imagery to portray her brother in this profile, a combination that both appeals to the senses and works very well to describe events. McBride uses quotes to emphasize or confirm the memory that she is currently describing, which helps to lend the reader a hand and give them a real example of the subject while helping to align the author’s train of thought and the story. For example, when McBride is recalling Scott’s first venture into manhood in the form of football she quotes him saying “’All of my friends were doing it that year. Football is just kind of the ‘guy’ thing to......

Personality Profile

...CSU Word count: 638 In an effort to better understand myself and why I make some of the choices in my life, I have taken two personality profile questionnaires online; the first was one recommended by my professor, called Keirsey Character Sorter, the second was of choosing and that led me to Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test. After careful dissection of the results I found that even though some of the findings were similar, the two tests painted different pictures of my personality. I will contrast and attempt to compare both examinations, showing why I believe the Keiser test is a more accurate description of my personality and character. I took both tests within one day of each other, to avoid an influence from one test on the other. After completion of the Keirsey test, I found the results to be surprisingly accurate, especially its description of the way my type makes decisions and view important choices. As for the Jung Typology test, I found it to be only accurate in generalities; the same way a daily horoscope found in the back of a newspaper would be. Both tests consisted of more than 60 questions with only two possible answers, all of which I answered with an open mind and honesty. The Keirsey test described my personality as a Rational Inventor or (ENTP), in it I found deep connection with its key characteristics, specially the first paragraph where it describes how this type of personality “is always trying to build a better mouse trap”(Keirsey, n.d., para1)....

Profile of a Person

...The purpose of introducing Major Project B: Profile of a Person was to inform my audience about Toby Bush and the 20 years he spent in the United States Air Force. My main focus was to get a good understanding of his thoughts and feelings so that I could have that same effect of my audience when they read it. Considering the phases I went through, they all gave me an opportunity to go deeper into my main point. When planning and preparing to start my interview I had a goal that was to ask all the right questions without offending or asking for too much. I first made a list of questions based on what I wanted to know and what I felt was important for my audience to know. The interview went well and I was very observant so that I could give my profile a setting. Later, I did background research on the bases Toby traveled to and also the events happening at the time. This helped me better include my thoughts and if asked any questions, I have information to share. Proposing a draft and then receiving and giving feedback was most important and helpful to me because I’m very concerned when it comes to doing things the right way and also getting a passing grade. I also enjoy the constructive criticism and I’m always open for improvement. While developing this project I would say it took a lot of thinking. I say this because I had to basically speak for others, considering all types of things. Above all I spoke for Toby. I also spoke for the customers by describing the great......

Mcdonald's Competitive Profile Matrix Essay

...According to David (2011) “the competitive profile matrix (CPM) identifies a firm’s major competitors and its particular strengths and weaknesses in relation to a sample firm’s strategic position” (p. 81). The CPM I completed above of McDonald’s and its competitors, Burger King Holdings and Yum! Brands, Inc., shows McDonald’s in a stronger strategic position than its competitors. In May of 2009, looking at financials, McDonald’s had a strong lead over its immediate competitors in the food service industry by having a market cap of $59.8 billion. In comparison, Yum! Brands had a market cap of $16.3 billion and Burger King Holdings had a market cap of $2.46 billion. Some of the reasons McDonald’s is successful and has high market share is due to its strong brand name recognition, a strong customer loyalty base, and its global expansion. Additionally, McDonald’s budgets quite a bit of money for advertising and has a fairly robust management program. McDonald’s is also well known for its Ronald McDonald charities. Burger King Corporation is ranked as the second largest burger chain in the world but ranks third in the food service industry. Yum! Brands, Inc. is the most similar in size to McDonald’s. It is ranked as the second largest company in the fast food service industry in the world. As good as McDonald’s looks in the competitive profile matrix, there are areas in which McDonald’s can improve. One of those areas is their public image. Some of the issues that have caused......

Thousands of companies, such as Coca-Cola, chose cities internationally to gain more revenue. The purpose of a corporation is to maximize profits for all shareholders involved. ...Jordan Rodriguez Rough Draft Profile Essay GSW 1100 15 September 2015 A Day in the Life Around noon on a hot summer day I yawned my way out of my comfy bed. I slowly walked down the stairs, watched cartoons while eating cocoa puffs. Later, my sisters and I went outside to play four square with the neighbors. After they beat me several times, I ran down the street with embarrassment. While running down the scorching hot pavement, I saw my friend Jacob playing whiffle ball outside with his friendly father. I asked him to talk a walk with me. We complained about our typical sixth grade problems. Jacob complained about his xbox breaking, while I complained about school plus girls. I really didn’t have any problems with girls besides wanting them all to myself. I never understood the point of school. I knew I had to get good grades, go to highschool, go to college, get a good job, and make a lot of money. I had to pay attention in class. It was imbedded into my head that soon became a natural instinct. Waking up at 7am to my dad screaming for me to brush my smelly teeth, wash my dirty body, and dress my naked body. Hearing people talk that early angered me. I never liked walking around my fifteenth century school. The walls peeled with gray paint. The dark red and off white tiles made me feel ill. The halls smelled like raunchy old ladies bathing in baby powder. Sitting in a deck for several hours developed into boredom for me. Talking about my hatred for......
