The Professional Development Plan of Heather Sharkey

Choosing a career path can be one of the most exciting, challenging, and terrifying decisions that a person can make in their life. More often than not individuals will find that throughout the course of their lives they will change their career path several times. I have always truly known that teaching was my calling, yet for years I have floundered from one unfulfilling position to the next. My decision in the summer of 2011 to partake in the adventure of returning to school has turned out to be a most rewarding one indeed. As with every new page turned I am continuing to find that one good decision leads to many other opportunities and new decisions to be made. When you begin to see a productive future ahead, foundational plans need to be laid in order to keep yourself on track and focused. There are such a variety of educational opportunities and resources for those that enter into the field of education that developing a detailed plan of action is one of the most efficient ways to ensure that all your goals are met and your dreams become reality. Taking into consideration that I returned to school a little later in life, I feel that I have a greater grasp of where I am headed professionally and personally. I have had many ups and many downs reaching this point in my professional and personal lives, all of which have made me a stronger and more focused individual and student. Throughout the next five years I have high hopes of completing my current task at hand which is becoming a certified teacher. My first benchmark toward achieving that goal is to complete my Associate of Arts with a Concentration in Elementary Education degree from the University of Phoenix. Upon the completion…...

...Professional Development Plan Gina York AED/201 December 16, 2012 Carla Gull Professional Development Plan A new school year begins and new teachers take their places at the head of the class and write their names on the board and introduce themselves. This day has been a culmination of many challenges faced head on. Many short and long term goals planned and accomplished. All of which has brought them here to this day. Full of excitement, hope, anxiousness, fear and doubt and expecting to feel all of those emotions and probably some more. Feelings of excitement for finally fulfilling a lifelong dream. Anxious and wondering if they made the right choice but most of all, will they be able to find that spark that will inspire their students. Short-Term Goals Personally, I have always found it to be helpful to have a plan or a set of goals for everything that I have wanted or tried to accomplish. It has been said that I am a bit on the obsessive and compulsive side of organization. I also find it difficult to go through a day without creating some sort of list. Whether it is a to-do list or a list of what I need to pick up as I dash in and out of the grocery store on the way home. I feel quite confident that I can expect that I will approach teaching the same way. As a teacher having a goal to reach for would be especially important. Before I can set my five year goal, I need to decide exactly what it is that I want to accomplish in five years. A person can say......

I was born and raised in Colorado, but moved to Texas a year ago and I love it. I love country music, dancing, home remodeling, animals and big trucks.  I have been an RN since 2000, with most of 14 years in Labor and Delivery and 3 years in Emergency. I love high risk OB, but most of all, I love sharing the special moment of bringing new life into this world with expectant parents. My educational goal is NP in Women’s Health. Strengths and Weaknesses I have a strong sense and intuition of what people are feeling, so I tend to be a people pleaser and put myself by the wayside at times. I do need to fine tune the art of slowing down and taking more time with the patient, sadly, due to staffing issues and the heavy demands on us, this sometimes takes a backseat to other things. I tend to be overly sensitive to criticism and I have to remind myself that things are not personal. I possess a great deal of empathy. I can feel what people are going through and be supportive in a way that others might not know how. I am extremely outgoing and I want people to like...

...University of Phoenix Axia College 11 Professional Development Plan Shelia Brock There are many things to consider when becoming a teacher. There are also many things to remember once the position of teaching has been reached. Having a professional development plan is something to keep in mind when beginning and going through the teaching experience. By creating this professional development plan I will be able to apply what I have learned in this class to my professional career. Here I will discuss my professional development plans to ensure that all students have a clear understanding that having an education is important and can lead to much success in their future. When many hear professional development plan, they automatically think anything that goes along with work. They will never think that their opinion or thought has anything to do with their professional development plan. Only the individual can assess their own professional development plan and know what areas they need improvement on. Professional development plans can also be tweaked a little bit when assessing it and seeing what areas needs improvement on. In the next five years I plan on completing my Associates degree in elementary education and possibly pursuing my Bachelors. I also plan to continue to work in the position that I currently hold if not assistant, then lead teacher. I also plan to explore to find out what needs to be done for me to possibly begin my own school or......

...Professional Development Plan University of Phoenix HRM 326 Why is Training Important? The reason why training on a job is important is that training helps people grow within the job. Entering a job market now and having one job isn't for everyone, they want to expand their means, their duties as well as responsibilities. Taking a job where you can learn from someone higher up than you such as a manager, even project manager can help you with your career in the future. That means putting yourself through tests and phases that can help evaluate you more as an employee. One of the most important factors of training is the overall value of the company, you can and companies do have training facilities that just deal with their companies. This way employee can learn as much as they can about their company as well as get tutored into new positions within the business. It is important to take someone within your company and help build them that career in the company; it keeps employees happy as well as employment high. Training learning objectives Analysis of Amazon’s customer service complaints has found that some interactions between customers and Amazon’s reps do not meet with customer approval. ...Professional Development Plan Stephanie Ledford LDR/531 January 18, 2016 VICTOR RAYNERI Professional Development Plan As each class starts, each person in the class is assigned to a learning team. Each week the team could be assigned a weekly project. This could be a difficult chore in the beginning since no one in familiar with each other. Each person has their own personality and ways to do projects, which could be very different from their other teammates. My objective is to complete a professional development plan that will help us work as a team and work towards a common goal. An individual or a team uses a professional development plan so that they have set goals and strategies to achieve the same goal at the end of the period (Multiprofessional Faculty Development, 2012). To help me develop this plan each team member has been asked to take the DISC Assessment. DISC is a personal assessment used to determine behavior types, and how to interpret the behavior (DiSC Profile, n.d.). The DISC assessment has four styles it uses as a determination. They are Cautious (C Style), dominance (D Style), interactive (I Style) and steadiness (S Style). A cautious person is detail orientated, a slow worker and has very high expectations for themselves. A person who is dominance is very goal orientated, need control and must achieve their goals. A interactive person is very enthusiastic, must have acknowledgment and has great people skills. A person who is......

...Professional Development Plan Ashley Mercado-Perez LDR/531 November 9, 2015 Michael Reynolds Professional Development Plan When working within a group it is very important to know the work styles of each individual. Knowing the strengths, weaknesses and needs of each individual with make for a more productive outcome of each task, and create synergy. In order to assess all of these factors, it is good to use a DISC Assessment. DISC stands for Dominant, Interactive, Steady, and Cautious. These are the four main styles of leaders. Team B is made up of three of the four DISC styles; Interactive, Dominant, and Cautious. According to the DISC Assessment, Interactive style people are friendly and thrive on admiration, acknowledgment and compliments. They are relationship oriented rather than task oriented and they are great influencers. They tend to use their people skills to build alliances to accomplish goals (Alessandra, P.7). Strengths of the Interactive person are seen in their communication, participation and finding the good in things. Their weaknesses are follow through and lack of objectivity. Interactive people need recognition, acceptance, and they need to talk (Outside the Box, 2014). Dominant Style people are driven by the need to control and the need to achieve. They like to take on challenges and are fast paced and goal oriented. A dominant Style person can work quickly and Impressively by themselves, and are annoyed with delay (Alessandra, P.......
