KABANATA I

...A device that gets scorching hot as it captures and traps much of the sun's energy using a greenhouse-like approach could usher in an era of inexpensive electricity from the sun. The breakthrough comes from a sunlight-absorbing material made of photonic crystals that are arranged to prevent the escape of most of the energy it captures from direct sunlight. In this case, infrared radiation from the sun enters the device through holes in the surface, but the reflected rays are blocked when they try to escape, explains Peter Bermel, an electronics researcher working on the device at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  This blockage is achieved by a geometry that limits re-radiation of the sun's rays to a narrow range of angles — the solar disk and region right around the sun. The rest of the rays stay in the device and heat it up. All this concentrated heat is focused on the production of high-energy photons, which are used to generate electricity via a thermophotovoltaic device. Conventional photovoltaic cells are limited in their ability to convert sunlight into electricity due to the inefficient conversion of the broad spectrum of sunlight that hits the cells. That's because heat is absorbed across a broad range of wavelengths and then tailored to generate the high-energy photons needed to generate electricity. The approach, Bermel said, could reach efficiencies of 35 to 36 percent, which is higher than the Shockley-Queisser limit. Thermophotovoltaic devices......

The prices of essential raw materials used in production changes in the reign of Ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif industries grows a lot because of the fact that he was an industrialist too , he know the problem of the industry and other hurdles. He really supports the industry. He gives great importance to this sector, mostly GFC fan is the great representative of the Pakistan in the international market they are affected for the economy of Pakistan. But now things are going worse as the Government of PPPP has failed to tackle the economical problems of the country. Systematic corruption has big role in this dilemma, many surveys have been conducted to see the performance of current Government and in result all the outcomes go in negatively for the ruling government. Material price raised and fluctuate on the daily basis so how a cost can be manage if this will happen. For example: A copper, which is use in the fan manufacturing goes up to hundred percent, As compare to previous rate. Economic instability may cause the GFC fans to go down because GFC is a big representative of the Pakistan if economic problems will occur definitely it will creates many problems for the fan industries as well as GFC. They can influence the economy......

...pressure from women organizations but the bill lapsed, after Senate failed to ratify it within three months period, required under the constitution. This bill has not been tabled again as yet (till Dec 2011) and the tenure of this government will end by the end of 2012. However, an encouraging step to secure women position at workplaces was taken in 2010 and 2011, in the shape of ‘Sexual Harassment Bill’ and ‘Prevention of Anti-Women Practices Bill” with the strong support of women Alliance AASHA, with other women organisations. Apart from women organizations, women wings in political parties have also played a role of pressure groups for different governments. Interestingly, almost all major political parties like Pakistan People’s Party (PPPP)16, Pakistan Muslim League (PML’N’)17 and Muttahida Quami Movement(MQM)18, have their women wings. Unfortunately these wings could not play any active role to bring a noticeable improvement in women political representation. However, these wings do support the initiatives of women organizations to address women related issues, inside and outside the parliament. Hurdles to Empower Women There are numerous hurdles in the way to empower Pakistani women. The first is much quoted and discussed patriarchal mind set. It is a known fact that the Pakistani society exhibits a patriarchal mindset, with the dominance of male over the female in a family setup. This particular status not only limit the opportunities for women but it also......

Established brands not only have tremendous brand recognition and a developed customer base but also the financial wherewithal to influence or manipulate the market conditions to make them more favorable to them. Nowhere is this more evident than in the hotel industy where large family firms have dominated the industry for decades. in addition the large initial investments, large overheads and fierce competiton often deter new entrants. However, the advent of the internet and consequently E-busness and IT business solutions has significantly leveled said playing field. With tourism increasing rapidly, especially from inxcreasingly affluent middle classes from the Newly Industrialized Economies (NICs), the hotel industry faces new challenges and opportunities,......

Music

...now than ever before. It was extremely important to the composer to obtain their specific mood or atmosphere that they wanted the audience to feel. Along with new tone colors, composers also sought new harmonies for greater emotional intensity. They began using the chromatic harmony, which uses chords from the twelve tone scale as opposed to the major and minor eight tone scales. By doing this they could use more tension and release methods. They would play extremely dissonant chords, and then release it with a more stable consonant chord to create feelings of yearning, tension, and mystery. To follow the expansion of timbre, and harmonies, dynamics, pitch, and tempo were also expanded. Composers used extreme dynamics ranging from pppp to ffff, which is extremely soft to extremely loud. Composers experimented with new instruments, such as the piccolo and contrabassoon to expand the pitches of the orchestra. The other thing they varied was tempo. Accelerandos and ritardandos were used more for variety along with the rubato, a hesitation or pushing of the tempo. Music in Society In the earlier periods of music, composers had specific jobs, such as writing for churches or courts. In the Romantic Period, more composers became freelancers; Beethoven was one of the first. He inspired many others to freelance and compose for their own pleasure. Much of the music of this time was written for the middle class because they prospered due to the industrial......
