Me Me Me

...“The difficulty in life is the choice”, 1 100% agree with this quote George Moore indeed would have gotten a vote from me when it came to come true this actually is. To explain his quote in other words; he’s stating the hardships and difficultly in life can most likely be avoided , you step into it and enhance it more that’s where the difficulty comes in which in some many ways could have probably be avoided . The book “Twelve Angry Men” by Reginald Roses is definitely a prime example of chosen difficulty when in many ways it could have been avoided. The teenager in the book “Twelve Angry Men” was on trial for the manslaughter of his own father. In my opinion that teen was all the way guilty. But majority of the 12 jurors saw him as innocent. Some pledged his innocence by justifying the manslaughter by saying he was “ a product of his environment” , claiming the boy grew up in the slums , had it bad all his life , from the robbing’s to the car theft even the stabbing his was involved in with another teen. But let’s be real it wasn’t mandatory for this teen to do those things. In all reality that young boy did those wrong doing himself all by his lonesome. Of course probably his environment gave him ideas and the thoughts in his head, but let’s thinks did the environment put the knife in his hand and forced him to kill his father? No right, so why the environment is the one to blame when it came to this boy reasons for killing his own father? No one lead him down the path of...

I'M Nobody Who Are You

...“I’m Nobody! Who are you?” by Emily Dickinson Most people feel invisible at some point in their lives; whether it’s because they’re in the shadow of an older sibling, because they are shy, or simply because everyone around them has been busy, it doesn’t make much difference. It’s still a horrible thing to feel like no one even realizes you’re alive or that you’ve been doing things. Emily Dickinson felt this way often; she lived at home and didn’t leave the house much, mostly corresponding with people by letters. However, her invisibility didn’t bother her too much, and that is what this poem is all about. When you feel invisible, you aren’t alone, because someone else is feeling invisible too. Dickinson starts out the poem introducing herself, ”I’m Nobody! Who are you?” (1) Being nobody can mean a lot of things; it could mean she’s no one important, no one special, no one significant, or no one that everyone knows. However, she could also be nobody to many people simply because she doesn’t try to stand out or feel important. She is content just being herself, living her plain, simple life and doing things that make her happy. Being nobody makes her somewhat mysterious; she’s obviously a person, but most people don’t know who she really is. This also relates to the second line in the poem, “Are you – Nobody – too?” (2) Dickinson’s question of the reader seems to show tha t being nobody is something everyone feels at some point in their life. Dickinson calls herself nobody,......

There's Nobody Like Jesus

..."There Is Nobody Like Jesus" Hebrews 1:1-3 Introduction 1. H. G. Wells, the brilliant and noted historian, once listed the ten most famous and most important men of all of history, and he listed Jesus Christ as number one, now at first glance you might think that is marvelous. You might think that he did Jesus a favor. 2. Well I beg to differ, think it was an insult of the highest order. Because Jesus was not just a man among men, he was God among men. There is nobody like him. Never before was there one like him. Never since will there be one like him. Because there is nobody like Jesus. 3. Some anonymous author wrote this years ago: more than nineteen hundred years ago there was a man born contrary to laws of life. This man lived in poverty and was reared in obscurity ....only once did he cross the boundary of the country in which he lived; that was during his exile in childhood....in infancy he startled the king; in childhood he puzzled the doctors: in manhood he ruled the course of nature, walked upon the billows as if on pavement, and hushed the sea to sleep....he never wrote a book, and yet all of the libraries of the country could not hold the books that have been written about him....he never wrote a song, and yet he has furnished theme for more songs than all the songwriters combined.... He never founded a college, but all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students.... Though time has spread many years between the......

Nobody Won

...Nobody Won Michelle L Brown Oklahoma Wesleyan University Abstract When the Arthur Andersen LLP/Enron scandal surfaced in 2001, there was much confusion as to whom committed what crime and how many employees were actually involved. After the facts and criminal charges were final, the sequence of events makes sense; the union of two companies, the rise of the participating executives, and finally the end of the money ride. The leaders of both companies used dishonesty to make an abundant amount of money and gain power status (Thomas 2002). Christopher Bergland said it best when he wrote, “Karma is a boomerang and the long-term shame and anxiety of cheating will ultimately negate the short-term gains of victory,” (Bergland, 2012). This definitely held true for the employees who were disgraced at the conclusion of the legal proceedings; they may have had more money than they needed, but they ultimately lost in the end. The Beginning The joining between Arthur Andersen LLP and Enron was a marriage too good to be true (Thomas, 2002). The relationship started in 1986 when Enron hired the accounting firm Arthur Andersen LLP to perform “creative accounting,” allowing the energy company to appear more powerful on paper than it really was (Investopedia, 2011). Enron Corporation started investing massive amounts of money in “Special Purpose Entities” to generate huge amounts of revenues. Special Purpose Entities are creative ways for companies to more efficiently raise debt,......

The Man Nobody Knows

... The Man Nobody Knows: A Discovery of the Real Jesus “The Man Nobody Knows” is a historical tale illustrating the biblical work of Jesus as the “founder of modern business.” In this article, the attributes of Jesus are clearly underlined to match those of a successful business man in the modern world. The preaching and life of Christ reflect the path of any successful executive. The story comes about due to a continued revolt in a young man’s mind about the works of Jesus (Bruce Barton, 1925), he feels though Jesus came to save the world, His life and missions relate to the journey of a successful businessman. “Cultural Modernism “as a theme is brought out in this story. Cultural modernism is a philosophical movement aimed at transformation of the traditional society into an industrialized society. Though cultural modernism can be traced back in the nineteenth century in the Western Society; Jesus’ work is, however, no short of the theme. During His era, Jesus organized divided cultures into one distinct one through His executive authority. ” Having gathered together his organization, there remained for Jesus the tremendous task of training it.” In His era, religious beliefs were viewed as a hindrance to cultural modernism. With His arrival, cultural modernism was depicted in the new ways of worshiping, economic activities and communication. “His language was marvelously simple. “Mass society comprises mass culture, production and consumption. “The Man Nobody Knows”......

Super Size Me

...Super Size Me Assignment To begin with, I have seen this movie Super Size Me before in high school. This is my second time watching it and I am still shocked by what is said in this movie. With that being said, I do eat fast food quite often. I eat it about 2-3 times a week. I do not live at home so I no longer get home cooked meals from my mom. I try to cook by myself sometimes but there are only so many things I know how to make and is sometimes more convenient for me just to drive down the street and get Del Taco or Weiner Schnitzel’s. Also with work and school I try my best to bring my own lunch or eat at a restaurant rather than going to a fast food joint. This film relates to the NF15 course in many ways, one of them being that when the narrator interviewed random people on the streets, nobody knew what a calorie was. This shows that people hear the word calories and see it on every food label and everywhere they look that there’s food, but still do not know what it is. This goes to show that people do not generally care about calories and how much they take in. Most people who eat fast food also do not know how many calories they are taking in from the food that they ordered. The foods ordered from fast food restaurants do not have food labels and only some will give you a nutrition facts sheet if asked for one. The film also showed that an order of small fries had 200 calories while the large order had 600 calories. That is 3 times the amount of......

Man and Me

...live knowing that many suffer unjust persecutions because of me. I cannot live seeing my brothers and their numerous families persecuted like criminals. I prefer to face death and I give my life willingly free so many innocent persons from unjust persecutions know that for the moment, the future of my country gravitates in part around me; that once I am dead, may will triumph; and that consequently above all, I have duties of families who suffer and to my age parents whose sighs tugs at my heart. I know that with my death, I can make them happy and restore them to their country and the peace of their homes. I know nobody else but my parents; but my country has many more sons who can substitute me with advantage .Besides, I would like to make those who deny patriotism see that we know how to die for duty and for convictions. What matters death if one dies for the thing he loves ,for country, and for those he adores? I know that I would be the only rally point of politics in the Philippines and if I were convinced that my countrymen would utilize my services. I would have probably hesitated to take this step. But there are still others who can take my place and with advantage. Moreover, there are those who find me extra burden and will not utilize my services and force me into inaction. I have always loved my poor country and I am sure that I’ll love her to the last moment, although men are unjust to me. My future, my life, my joys, all I have sacrificed for......

Me, Me Me

...In January 2008 a British journalist, Sarfraz Manzoor, wrote an article with the title “Me, Me, Me” that appeared in the magazine “Esquire”. He gives his opinion on how the phenomenon “New Narcissism” has its influences on today’s society through the Internet. And he leaves us with the impression that there is a reason to be worried about today's youth being more narcissistic than ever before. Narcissism is not new for us. New Narcissism is a modern version of the phenomenon narcissism. And it has been known since ancient Greece with the Greek myth about Narcissus that fell in love with his own reflection in the water. The man that got narcissism recognized as a medical condition was Sigmund Freud (l. 53). But in our age, the word, narcissism, does not seem that serious and is mostly defined as a phenomenon. This New Narcissism has come to life because society reproduces itself (l. 59). And growing numbers of people are more narcissistic according to a study performed by psychologists. Sarfraz Manzoor, who has written this article, describes that New Narcissism is the offspring of today’s society. He makes an example by including a person named Chris Crocker. Crocker became famous because he put a video on the Internet where he defended the celebrity Britney Spears. There can be two reasons for his behaviour. Is he doing this to tell people that they shall back off and because he is fond of her? Or is he doing this to get attention? But it does not seem as if Britney is......

The “Me” That Nobody Knows

...The “me” that nobody knows is quite, reserved, withdrawn and scared. The total opposite of what people see on the outside. On the outside you see happy go lucky, free spirited, loving caring person who tries to assist everybody. I am perceived as being strong and capable of handling almost anything. The inside me is quite because I really have little to say about what is going on around me. It is not that I do not care; it is however I just get tired of people wanting my opinion. I come from a family of twelve, a mother, a father, and ten children. I am known as the yelling baby or second to last. All of my life, well since I can remember my opinion has been sought for. Frankly, I am tired of answering questions and figuring out every one else problems. I would rather be some place doing what I want to do and how I want to do it instead of always doing what is expected of me. I am the person I am on the inside because I am the product of child molestation that caused me to put a wall and always be suspicious. I am the product of rape and being sold, from the time I was five until I was eleven. So, as stated, most of my life I have been living for others. Although I have been through, I thank God for a praying mother; a mother who taught me to pray. After my parents divorced my mother, my sister and I moved and it was a life changing event. I did not know for a long time that people could live and not be scared to smile or laugh because they were actually happy. I got to......
