The agency that I would be interested in working for is the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the position that I would like to fill would be Program Manager (Unit Chief). The duties for this job would be to serve as program manager with complete oversight of the support services unit. I would be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, reviewing, coordinating and monitoring various work functions as well as the activities of the unit and program. I would be determining goals and objectives for different programs, preparing short and long-range work plans and scheduling work assignments and serving as the point of contact for matters related to the various programs and my section. Planning, organizing and ensuring completion of broad analytical studies involving the substance of key agency programs are a vital part of my position. I would have to adjust program direction and emphasis based on budgetary appropriations. Provide administrative and technical supervision to administrative employees by assigning work to the employees based on individual background, skills and capability to perform assignments. I would be reviewing and evaluating the progress, quality, and quantity of work performed by subordinate employees. In developing performance standards and assigning periodic performance rating for employees, I will identify and provide training, development to subordinate employees. My job would include recommending employees for promotions, reassignment, interview of new employees, advise employees on policies, procedures, and other administrative matters necessary to accomplish the work of the organization. As a supervisor, I will be approving and disapproving leaves, hearing and resolving minor complaints and grievances, and make minor disciplinary actions if necessary.
