My Life in Ten Years
Dayna B. Davis
Breckenridge School of Nursing

Being a single mother of three you never know where life will take you. It’s hard to believe that in 10 years I will be the mother of a 22, 17 & 13 year old. My journey into the nursing field started with a certificate in Medical assisting which I obtained in 2005. Shortly after that I continued my education in the medical field by returning to receive my certificate in Medical Insurance Billing. I wanted to be sure that nursing was my true passion before embarking on such a complicated yet passionate field. And once I received confirmation my journey began.
Before I begin to tell you what my plan is let me start out with why. Three years ago I gave birth to my only daughter via C-section. During the routine procedure I experienced what is called a “pseudo seizure” and have no memory of daughter until what I would eventually learn was two days after the procedure. It was during my week long stay in the hospital that I realized nursing was my calling. The care I received was amazing and the time that the nursing staff took to explain what had happen as well as answer any and all questions I had was very touching. And shortly after being discharged I began my search that would lead me to ITT Tech/ Breckenridge School of Nursing.
My ultimate goal is that in ten years I will be a very successful nurse anesthetist with plenty of accolades and degrees under my belt. While I am currently a student in my first year at Breckenridge School of nursing, it is my ultimate goal to obtain my BSN and MSN concurrently shortly after completing my RN. In less than a year I will graduate and I am looking forward to what my future brings.
It is my ultimate goal to one day become employed at University of Michigan Hospital. With the degrees I hope to obtain it is my goal to make enough to be able financially…...

My 4th Year High School Life, Different from the Others

...My 4th year High School Life, Different from Others Alyssa Bea Tanda, IV-Br. Flavius High school life is really fun. There are so many happenings in your life that you will never forget, so many things that had changed your life. For me there are many things in my life that changed a lot in me but I can say that the one that had changed me the most is my being a 4th year high school student. I don’t know why, but I really learned a lot in this part of my life. There are also some good effects of me being a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year high school student, but being a fourth year student is really different. It’s different from my other past experiences. The first day of 4th year came and I found out that my section is Br. Flavius, wherein my classmates were also my classmates when I was in 3rd year. At first I had thought of transferring to other section, because I want something new and I want to have new friends with other people. But then I had a realization that I can’t afford to be away from my friends. I also thought that it is God’s will that I am part of that section, so there is a purpose why I belong here. One of the main reasons why I decided not to transfer to other section is because I learned that the adviser of our section is Mr. Joseph Consignado. Even when I was still on the lower years, I already know his name. Many people say that he is one of the best advisers of the high school department. Every section that he handled was always known to be one of the......

My Life Now Compared to 5 Years Ago

...Assignment 04 11/29/12 My life now and my life five years ago are similar, but there are also some significant differences. Five years ago, I had just moved my family into a new home and neighborhood. I still live in the same home today. I had my sons living at home five years ago while now I have an empty nest. My oldest son lives in his own apartment, and my youngest son lives four hours away at college. I looked forward to this empty nest, but some evenings it gets lonely. I was responsible for taking care of my mother who had end stage Alzheimer's Disease, whereas I no longer have this role since she died in September 2010. I have a strong family relationships then as well as now. My family meant the world to me then and even more now. I worked at the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove just like I do today. On the other hand, I was a field nurse then and now I am the hospital liaison for the agency. I had a lot less responsibility at work, unlike now I have a lot that I must get completed every day. I did not have any significant goals five years ago. I was not thinking of any other career choices or advancement opportunities. I was satisfied with my job and my life as an LPN. I still love my nursing career, but I have come to the realization there are minimal opportunities for advancement. I had no plans of continuing my education in any way. I do have specific goals now. For instance, I have enrolled online at Ashworth College to obtain my......

My Life

...am a forty year old mother of two, who has always felt that there was something missing in my life. I tried many different things like learn how to knit or exercise, but still there was something missing. Until one day I felt unhappy about my job I felt that I can do but of course I wanted to get paid. About five years ago I decided that I wanted to further my education so that I can make more money and be able to live comfortably instead of check by check. But for some reason every time I tried to enroll something came up. This past weekend I decided I’d go for it without giving it a second thought and here I am. I spoke to my family about it after I enrolled and was amazed at the response I received my husband said “Go for it babe” my children said (at the same time) “Go mom”. I felt good about my decision. With a college education I know I will reach my goal. I currently work at a Children’s Rehabilitation Center I am the Senior Front Desk Manager there but I am more than positive that I can make this place run much better than how it is now. I realized that every time I mention an idea to my boss she makes the changes and she’s glorified for it. I learned to keep my ideas to myself get my education and take her job. My goal is to be able to make positive changes in my life in its totality with a college education I can make more money and be able to live comfortably. I would like to one day own a home and a vehicle, I would like to take yearly vacations with my family,......

Ten Year Plan

...Schell's pledge it would be spending the kind of money it has on downtown parking garages. While no one is complaining about the extra money, his promise struck some as naive. "We can't sell short the difference a good new shelter makes, but it is not solving the problem by a long shot," said Michelle Marchand, a spokeswoman for Wheel, a homeless women's advocacy group. The mayor conceded yesterday that he won't reach his goal. "It's an ongoing issue," he said. "We are going to have to keep working at it." The city has increased the number of motel vouchers available for families in need and beefed up a program to prevent evictions. A grant is helping the Salvation Army prepare a 17-bed shelter that should open early next year. Money will go toward expanding hours at the YMCA's daytime program for homeless women. The city also will help open a new referral center for homeless women and children that should take some of the burden off existing programs. Hammond House is the most tangible result so far. Schell and a group of civic and community leaders will arrive at the basement shelter tomorrow to give an update on what the city has accomplished over the past seven months. Located in an alley off Stewart Street, below a cafe and a designer tile store, Hammond House has been full practically since the night it opened last month, said Kim Sather, the program director. But measuring just how effective the programs have been is......

My My Life Impact

...At a very young age I had to grow up fast and help my mom out with the kids. It was five of us at the time, our dad went to prison and left my mom with everything. When my mom went to work I had to be a mom when she was not there at times. I had to put away my teenage ways and become a parent. It was very hard at times because my sister's and brother had respect for me instead of our mom. I got devastated at times, but I pulled it together. I had no life because I was being a parent to my siblings. In high school I was a very troubled teenager who did not have a sense of direction. My grades were not good the first 3 years of school; it was up and down from there; but I always got through it somehow. My last year of school I pulled it together and made honor roll the whole entire year. At the end of the year I received a reward for my accomplishment. At that moment I felt very important that year. After High school I enrolled in college as a criminal justice major, everything came back to me and I fell in the same situation that I was in when I was back home. When I left home to go to college that was the first time I felt like I was on my own, I did not have to be a parent anymore, and I was only responsible for myself. The two years that I had attended I was not ready for college. My focus was having a life because it was taken from me as a child. I enjoyed being a free with no curfew . The school suspended for six months, I never went back to school. At that very moment......

...My Life As I Know It 3 As I sit here and think about what to write down on this paper, I came to the conclusion that everyone has their own perspective on what their life was like. My life was no where perfect. I lived in a home with one parent, my life was a struggle. However, as I grown as an adult I have learned the importance of a good education and being a positive, supportive parent to my children as my mother was with me. My mother was a hard working parent, raising three children all on her own. My dad walked out of our life when I was 7 years old. My mom would struggle to make end meet, she only made $250 a week, that wasn’t enough to feed a family of four and pay bills as well. But, she was a strong woman; she didn’t let that stop her, my mother picked up another job to help us get by. There were many of times we hardly ever saw my mother, my oldest brother Ricky who was 11 years old at the time, help my mother out by watching me and my little brother while she worked. I can remember it like yesterday, before she would leave for work, she would call us down to the table and say “make sure you eat all your food before leaving today, because a starving brain will not function properly. Today I make sure I send my children off to school with a good breakfast and positive message each morning to start their day out right. To me it’s important to stay positive because when children see and hear positive thing they tend to be positive as well. Some of the......

Imagine You Are in the Year 2020. Look Back on Your Life over the Last Ten Years and Describe in 500 Words the Path That Your Life Has Taken over the Last Ten Years

...“Mommy Tasi pulled my hair!" "I want some cookies now mommy!". I am a happy mother in the mid-thirties who is playing with my 02 little kids before leaving for the 10-year ceremony of the DSU-MBA Course in Vietnam. It’s already 10 years since 2010. Time really flies! Looking back on the last 10 years, I am so happy with the all the wonderful achievements I had and the right decisions I made for my life. The first major milestone would be my MBA degree in 2012. The program itself provided me not only a range of new skills and business knowledge, but more importantly a “bigger picture” understanding, a different view on the world, which I found very helpful in all the jobs I have been doing until now. The degree also played an important part in the evolution of my career. After six years working at Cisco, an IT company, I moved to Ford Motor as the Marketing Manager in 2013 with a total new business environment in a consumer market. My following 4 years in Ford gave me opportunities to further practice the skills I learnt from this MBA course, especially the strategic thinking and leadership skill. The second key achievement I made was the decision to open my very own business, “Gam Restaurant” in 2017. I still remember the early days with a lot of challenges and how difficult it was for me to decide to leave a multinational company for this private business. I have learnt many good lessons along the way to bring the restaurant become one of the best choice of......

My Life

...My life of 34 years, have been filled with love, happiness, trusting friendships, and a little disappointment from myself. Growing up I had an imagination incorporated with dreams and the feeling that one day I will make a difference to people. I did not want to be famous, however, I had a groaning from inside that I will be important. My journey has taken me on many trips, befriended many, and accomplished some things I was ok with. In this brief summary of my life I will give great tribute to a humanistic psychologist named Abraham Maslow. When I read about him in my psychology class at Olive Harvey College when I was twenty years old his theory was interesting but was not understood at that time in my life. It was not until I was 33, enrolled in a beginners psychology course at Chicago state university, I finally payed attention to his theory of life. The self- actualization stage was where I was at in my life; this feeling inside me was the desire to full my life to its full potential. Becoming all I can be. I had a house, I bought on my own, a job at the University of Chicago for twelve years, and a well rounded well behaved daughter. That was not good enough. My thought was what’s a house? what’s a job? I can be more than a phlebotomist with an associate’s degree in child development. There have been many people who have shaped me thinking and the way I view the world. My mother was my primary caregiver .she married my father, unfortunately, was separated from him......

Next Ten Years

...Over past ten to fifteen years students in the US have built up a bad reputation for their poor academic achievements. Students in this time period have scored well below their parents and Grandparents on SATs and other standardized tests. Newspaper articles and TV commercials highlight the fact that American students today perform even lower than their contemporaries in less developed countries. Although these results do not look good for America’s students I do believe that these kids are smarter than the results of these tests would lead one to believe. America’s youth do have good skills and abilities that generations before them never had. In Peter Sack’s book the 13th generation goes to college, Sacks talks about how the students in his journalism class were simply unprepared for college level work. Important skills such as critical thinking and English composition were way below the level necessary to complete the assignments. Being able to write is one of the fundamental cornerstones of any good education, and the inability to communicate a point on paper can hurt one’s credibility. The effects of not being able to write properly could even hurt the chances of getting the position they want. A couple of things often said about today’s students are that they are unmotivated to do schoolwork. American kids don’t see the value of a good education. It seems students would rather sit in front of the TV or talk on the phone instead of studying. It seems as...

...Carlos Olea-Tapia 9/02/15 Mr. F 5 paragraph essay Standing out I was only ten when my dad first told me not to be like the rest of my fellow students. He said, “The only two things that matter in this world are family and being who you are.” From that day on, I, Carlos Olea-Tapia, took these words seriously. It wasn’t easy since I was born on March 8, 1998, and at the time a lot of things were happening in the year 2000. The media was tough to face since everything out there was either mainstream or popular so I stared to look for alternatives such as listening to underground bands and reading books. School wasn’t easy either. People don’t like change so when they saw a kid like me they would make fun of me or admire me for being who I am. I’m now seventeen and I’ve been changing ever since. Elementary school and middle school were both shit like literally some kids made my life a living hell. Elementary school was probably the worst; I was bullied by many kids until one day I came home and told my mother, my mother straight up gave me permission to punch any kid if bothered no matter what the school consequences were. That day I stood up for myself and showed the world that I wasn’t going to take shit from no one. Middle school was a little better. I made quite the name for myself. By the end of eighth grade I was known as a pimp and I liked it. That reputation continued on to high school by then I was no longer a pimp I was a drug lord. I wore the best of the best......

...months, quarters, and years (fiscal or calendar). Accounts payable -- amounts owed by the company for the goods or services it has purchased from outside suppliers. Accounts receivable -- amounts owed to the company by its customers. Accrual basis, system, or method -- an accounting system that records revenues and expenses at the time the transaction occurs, not at the time cash changes hands. Cash basis accounting is used by individuals. Accrual basis accounting is used by most businesses. Accrued expenses, accruals -- an expense which has been incurred but not yet paid for. Salaries are a good example. Employees earn or accrue salaries each hour they work. The salaries continue to accrue until payday when the accrued expense of the salaries is eliminated. Aging -- a process where accounts receivable are sorted out by age (typically current, 30 to 60 days old, 60 to 120 days old, and so on.) Aging permits collection efforts to focus on accounts that are long overdue. Amortize -- to charge a regular portion of an expenditure over a fixed period of time. For example if something cost $100 and is to be amortized over ten years, the financial reports will show an expense of $10 per year for ten years. If the cost were not amortized, the entire $100 would show up on the financial report as an expense in the year the expenditure was made. (See entries on Expenditure and Expense.) Appreciation -- an increase in value. If a machine cost $1,000 last year and is now worth......

Ten Year Plan

...From the first moment I walked into this Positive Psychology class, I knew it would change something about me, for good. As a natural optimist, I was already expecting to have something good come out of this course that would affect my life, broaden my perspective, and somehow change something about my behavior. Little did I know that I would get so much more than just notes, lectures, and homework, I received some important tools for life that can help me in many situations. The five tools I incorporated into my life and do today are benefit finding, the nightly gratitude journal, and importance of flow in life, eudemonia, and the wonder drug. These important five tools that I picked up this semester result in an increase in happiness and so much more. Once of the first things that I remember really stuck out to me was, Professor Susan Thompson’s story of her life as a benefit finder and as a fault-finder. The difference was incredible and from that moment on I dedicated my life to transforming into a benefit-finder for all of life’s situations. I never considered myself as a fault-finder, but it always depended on the situation, now as a benefit-finder my life is open to more opportunities to learn, and move onto the future. For example, recently my little sister and I have been looking for a white Pomeranian breed puppy. Ever she was a little girl she wanted this puppy, and now as a fully employed part-time teen she has made it her job to find one. Together we have been......
