1. (TCOs A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H) Hoosier Services recently celebrated its 10th anniversary as a professional services firm that handles investigations for law firms offering amenities, such as background checks, surveillance, interviewing of witnesses, crash scene investigation, and other related services.

The company was founded by Lee Herbert who had extensive experience working for companies that handle investigative work. Herbert is more of a people person and is always looking for the next new client to take on. Admittedly, Herbert had no experience in running a business when he decided to go out on his own and enlisted the help of his long time friend, Bradley Simmons.

Simmons has spent his career working for larger corporations in finance and had no experience in investigative services, but was looking for a change.

Over the 10 years since the company's founding, Hoosier Services struggled at first but slowly grew over the last five years. The more law firms the company works with, the more cases they receive. The more cases they receive, the more hours they can bill. Hoosier currently has six investigators and two clerks in addition to Herbert and Simmons.

Over the years, they have expanded and contracted based on the volume of business and the local economy.

Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, Herbert is really interested in expanding the business to other major cities in the region, believing that "there are only so many law firms here in Indianapolis." He feels that if they've survived 10 years, then they should continue to focus on growing the business. Simmons, on the other hand, feels that expansion will put the company at risk as it takes time to develop a decent client base. They opened a second office several years back across town but…...

Mgmt530 – Conference Decision Week 2 Case Analysis Template

...MGMT530 – Conference Decision Week 2 Case Analysis Template 1. Define the Objectives for the Conference Decision Case. Objectives should be separated into fundamental and means objectives. 2. Identify the alternatives for the case. Fundamental Objectives (used to evaluate and compare alternatives) The upper management is in favor of this conference. This conference is very crucial to the development and growth of the organization. A fundamental objective is to find a location and set a new date for the conference. Another objective is to keep the cost the same. If the cost of resuming the conference rises and additional costs are presented to the attendees, the organizations will risks losing attendees. Means Objectives (used to generate alternatives and deepen your understanding of the decision problem) To get a better perspective of the prospective attendees I think it would be wise to contact the attendees and get a count of how many will be able attend during present date. Also to see if a change in venue location would affect their attendance. If a large number of attendees won’t be able to attend during the current date, then it would be safe to re-schedule the conference date and find another suitable location. By doing this it will give attendees enough time to reschedule their travel arrangements and to clear their calendars for a future potential date. Alternatives An obvious alternative is to cancel the conference. By cancelling the conference it......

...Final Paper Paul Rosaschi MGT-337 Western International University Final I would like to do my final paper on a great leader; Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president. I believe he was a good leader because he possessed many qualities that qualified him as great leaders here are a few qualities he had: Capacity to Listen to Different Points of View Ability to Learn on the Job Ready Willingness to Share Credit for Success Ready Willingness to Share Blame for Failure Awareness of Own Weaknesses Ability to Control Emotions Know How to Relax and Replenish. Go Out into the Field and Manage Directly Strength to Adhere to Fundamental Goals Ability to Communicate Goals and Vision All these qualities I believe would have translated to any supervisory role he could occupy. While I think the presidency was what he was meant to do, these skills are vital to a successful leader. I am interested in him as a final paper because of everything he accomplished during his life, which was ended too soon. I will write about his success as well as his failures before and during his term.  Abe Lincoln could debate. Think about leaders and think about how they do with pubic speaking. Do we consider George W. as a good leader? No. But he can't speak either. Hitler was horrible man, but why did a whole country follow him. He could speak and articulate ideas......
