The film that I have been analysing is ‘Friends with Benefits’.
Will Gluck directed the film and the producers were Martin Shafer, Liz Glotzer, Janet Zucker and Will Gluck. The impact of the director of this film is a good one because he has directed many rom coms such as ‘Easy A’, this could attract the target demographic because the film was very successful which means that they would want to watch films by the director. The total budget of the film was around $67,000,000, the opening weekend was $18,622,150, the total domestic gross was $55,802,754 and the worldwide gross was $150,421,779. This shows that the film did very good at the book office.

Poster
The advertisement would have been seen on billboards, bus stops, on the buses, train stations, cinema. The impact on the target demographic could be that they want to see the film because it is interesting and also you can put the poster anywhere so they don’t have to go and search for it themselves. On the poster there was a release date to inform when they can go see the film. I think that the mis-en –scene was very modern and simple for example the background colour is mainly white which connotes peace and modern and the target audience is modern, this is good because it would not be difficult to understand it. It also uses things that the target demographic can understand and relate with e.g. the masthead is white and blue which connotes fresh and modern also FWB is highlighted in blue which might be linked to the target demographic because it is text language which the target demographic will be familiar with it. Also the audience are familiar with some on the connotes of the mis-en –scene such as The guys tie is loose which shows that he is casual and a playful kind of guy but it could also connote a ‘player’ which the target demographic are familiar with because it usually happens in rom coms. This shows that the mis-en –scene is good because the target demographic can understand it therefore making them go watch the film. The people starring in this film are Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis the names of these stars are on top of the poster this is to show that they are important and to attract the target demographic because they are big stars’ in the movie industry. This is also a typical film poster convention. Also Justin Timberlake and Mila kunis are good looking people which might tempt the T.D to watch the film. The film poster has detailed who has directed and produces the film which can attract the T.D because maybe they have seen and liked a film that was made by them before. This would all help sell the film because in many ways it would attract the Target demographic

Film trailer
The trailer would be seen at the cinema, TV or a YouTube advert. It could be shown when they know when most people are watch TV or on the laptop. This can impact the T.D because we consume about 10h45m of media a day; I know this because of a documentary ‘Miss representation’ this means we would see the trailer at least once which might make them watch the film because everyone would be seeing it and might talk about it and find the trailer interesting . The main effect the trailer has on the T.D is that it tempts the audience into watching the film because of how modern and relatable it is e.g. In shot two: At the back of the girl you can see very big buildings with lots of lights which shows that she is in the city, it means that the movie is going to be a very modern and fast moving. One thing the trailer has that the poster doesn’t is that you can get more understanding of the narrative and maybe make it more tempting to see more since you see only small glimpse’s of the film so it makes the T.D more curious about what will happen to the character and what will happen next. The characters are being represented as being very modern this is done by the actors wearing modern clothes this might be something maybe that T.D are like which will appeal to the T.D. The film has detailed who has directed and produces the film which can attract the T.D because maybe they have seen and liked a film that was made by the director who had direction this film. This would all help sell the film because in many ways it would attract the T.D.

Both the film trailer and poster are effective but I think that the trailer is better because you can get much more about the narrative of the film and it would make the person more hocked on to it and the friends with benefits trailer defiantly does make the T.D watch the film, maybe more than the poster because it hardly gives any info on the movie, However it does stick to the conventions of a rom/com for example by having a white background because rom/coms are usually light colours.

Synergy is a theory that using a range of media platforms has a cumulative effect for example, if it had only used a poster it would get 10,000 viewers, if you had just a trailer you would have 10,000 viewers but if you have both you would get 30,000, so it is better to have a range of media platform. Which the Friends with Benefits film did so it would attract and appeal to more people and sell the film.

So overall, although the trailer gave more detail about the narrative, the poster suggested genre and advertises the popular celebrity cast, using both media platforms was thus effective as a whole campaign.…...

...CONCLUSION The Samsung Galaxy S II is a worthy heir of the best-selling smartphone with the Android OS, and it will surely have similar market success due to its impressive features, excellent display, modern and elegant performance, advanced and up-to-date user interface with an abundance of functions. There's no question this is going to be Samsung's best smartphone, and it will surely satisfy the needs of even the most demanding of users. All the top U.S. wireless carriers offer a version of the original Galaxy S, and it seems likely they will be picking up its newest version later this year. Pros: • Very good display • Elegant design • TouchWiz 4.0 user interface • High-quality full HD video recordings • Great performance Cons: • No dedicated key for turning the camera on • Poor photo quality in low lighting • Marketing Genius of Samsung • Samsung has unarguably made the greatest marketing ploy with the Samsung Galaxy S3 imitating in several aspects the marketing strategies of Apple and their products. The company as such has been highly secretive about the Samsung Galaxy S3, often denying the rumors that come out or actively concealing any information that usually is given. The genius of it all remains not in the secrecy, but rather in the “leaks” that actually occur. Photographs taken with the 12MP camera that’s supposed to grace the camera, blurred images of the body of the phone, even invoices of pre orders from various channel partners bearing the name....

...4. Conclusion and Recommendations The qualitative findings give findings give reason for optimism about market interest in the new product because there are many specific attributes that the consumers desire in a tool bag. There are common characteristics that tool bag users are looking for, and Veto Pro can use this information to tailor their product to these specific needs. For example, both Matt and Joe emphasize durability. This allows the tool bags to last longer and eliminate the need to buy a new one. Organization also seems to be an important characteristic of the ideal tool bag. The damage of tools seems to be an important issue, so keeping the tools out of harms way while in the bag is crucial. With the information obtained through the interviews, Veto Pro has a great opportunity to offer a product that satisfies a large target market. Veto Pro should look to exploit the weaknesses of their competition. It is important for Veto Pro to keep their prices reasonable. We found in the interview that tool bag users are only willing to stretch their budget so far in terms of purchasing a tool bag. In terms of brand awareness, neither of our interviewees had heard of Veto Pro. This strikes as a big problem. We recommend that you focus on advertising and getting your product known in the market place. Although the product may offer everything that the consumer needs, if they are not aware of it they cannot purchase it. Word of mouth seems to be an effective marketing...

...existence, operations and public image. They can create goodwill for any business in the market boosting its revenue promising a bright future. While on the other hand breaching or ignoring the same business ethics can do more harm and may lead to a market failure and company closure. Ethics play an important role not only while initiating a business but also when it faces issues like that of defective products. The following report will highlight the role of ethical behavior in management of defective product by taking a real example of Breast Implant manufacturing company which had to dissolve following the product failure in the market. This report will discuss the chain of issues that led to the defects and will draw a contrast and a conclusion based upon how PIP behaved ethically in order to deal with such burning issues. Background of the Company Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) A French company started in 1991 that produced breast implants. 2000: Implant sales in USA halted by an FDA launched moratorium on silicone implants. 2001: PIP began to use unapproved in-house manufactured industrial-grade instead of medical grade silicon in the majority of its implants. 2003: the first signs of legal problems and financial losses can be traced by regulatory filings. 2009: Concerns surfaced in France first in 2009 when surgeons started reporting an abnormally high rupture rates. ...Conclusion MAS, has been suffering from an economic downfall, with the value of the RM fluctuating against the dollar and bad business decisions still costing the organization money. The management team at MAS is large and MAS has been rapidly expanding into new business ventures within the travel business, so at least they are sticking to what they know. To still be operating in the next5 years, MAS is going to need to change what is currently happening and play catch up with their rivals. Fortunately air travel in Asia is expected to increase when the downturn is over, but that still leaves the European and American markets. By creating strategic alliances with other firms such as KLM, MAS has a chance of getting an increase in travel to European and America. While all these changes take place it is important that MAS respects the culture and structure that have been built up over the history of MAS and to try and not change these aspects of the company too fast. Once re-structured the poorly performing operations can be sold off and MAS can concentrate on the operational activities that prove profitable. It is then up to MAS to market these properly and let their customers know what is available to them and at what price. The major changes include restructuring the organization and implementing a low cost no frill airline that will allow MAS to service local customers wishing to fly within Asia. Brand name is all important so through all the changes it is important that......

...Conclusion In the starting of the experiment, we construct a body of the water rocket, which is made out of unwanted bottles. Other than that, we used wood plank, PVC tube, wire holder and bicycle tire to build the water rocket launcher After conduct this experiment, we found that heat will affect the temperature change. The time taken for the water rocket launched into the air and drop to the ground is longer. Hence, the hypothesis is accepted. As what we did in the experiment, we prepared 8 different temperature of water and insert into the body of the water rocket. After we conduct the experiment, we realized that there are some mistakes which made our results less reliable. The temperature recorded for all specimens were too close because they were measured by a lab thermometer. In future, when we repeat this experiment, we will use a digital thermometer which has a high sensitivity to get a more accurate reading. Besides that, we found that there is some error occurs when we pour water into the bottle (body of water rocket). There is heat loss during the pouring process. The temperature of water may drop since there is evaporation occurs. But fortunately, we quickly measured the water temperature as long as we pour the water into the bottle to ensure that the error occurs won’t be different with our expectation. Finally, it is......

Now when looking back on this course and thinking about things that were presented to us throughout all the readings that we have done I realize that I needed to sit back and think about what I was going to say before I set it so that everything that had come out of my mouth was entirely professional and legal before I had said anything. ...“Post production is a real creative process”. In your own experience, how did post production enable you to explore media practices in your coursework? The brief for the task in the preliminary task was to create a short extract in which there are two lines of dialogue, an opening of a door at some point, all the while keeping to the 180’ rule and ensuring continuity is constructed. In the final piece the brief was slightly different as it was to construct an opening to a horror production, establishing both character and genre. We did this through camerawork, editing, mise-en-scene, and sound. We decided to make our piece within the supernatural sub-genre, in which two teenage boys search an abandoned house to test the tales of hauntings that have taken place over the years. Normal conventions have been reversed as we have male victims (protagonists) with a female antagonist. Post production was an important aspect of this as editing enabled us to construct continuity and add certain effects in order to make our piece look as professional as possible. To create a professional feel we added a camera overlay with reduced opacity to the handicam shots in order to create a more realistic look as if someone were using a hand held camera. We did this both in our preliminary task along with our final piece as we like the effect it created. A specific example of when it was used is within our final piece in the handicam shot of Alex and Fin walking through the dark hallway...

The three films that would help me conduct this research and meet my aims are Candyman, Friday the 13th and a nightmare on Elm Street. By looking at these films, I would be able to see whether all the elements that come under genre is applied e.g. iconography, setting etc. The creation of horror films was done to make people scared and frightened but also tap into our hidden fears. This could be done by looking at the most common thing that scare people. For example, The fly,......

...For my Media AS Coursework I decided to choose brief one from the options we were given. I then further decided to choose task one and two following this. I decided to create a 3-minute film opening and a 3 page A4 information booklet about the opening sequence. I decided to choose these because I felt that they would enable me to create my best work. I wanted to base my film around a target audience of young teen around 12+ as I knew that the basis of the film I was going for was a bit harder to understand for younger generations. Before I decided to create anything I first carried out some research. Firstly, I watched other sporting films such as ‘Forever Stronger’ and ‘Goal II’ as I knew that my film would be based around sport. I also contacted a man named Jimmy Gittings. Jimmy is a former Rugby League player who suffered a terrible injury which ended his career. He speaks openly about life after his injury and works for the charity ‘State of Mind’. I felt talking to him personally would enable more knowledge on the subject of depression in sport. I also looked at published booklets such as 40/20 Magazine and league weekly to get an understanding of how my designs are supposed to look. I felt that this information was key so that I could stick to the original codes of conventions of a proper magazine. The first task that I chose was to create a 3-minute film opening sequence. I decided to follow the brief and base my film around ‘a secret’. That secret obviously being......

...undertaken by the other." Nevertheless, there is a modern theory which is called "bargain theory," in which the parties view the contract to be the product of an exchange or bargain. In conclusion, despite the fact that “benefit-detriment theory” has been superseded by the “bargain theory”, contemporary courts do not hesitate using both theories. C.-) Performance of pre-existing duties * Stilk v Myrick In this case Stilk was a seaman on a voyage from London to the Baltic and back. He was contracted to work on a ship for 5 pounds per month. His duty involved any ship activities regardless of emergencies. During the voyage, the ship docked at Cronstadt and two seamen deserted. The Captain agreed that the wages of the two deserters would be divided equally among the remaining crew if they complied with the obligations of their own work and also the duties of the missing crewmen. After arriving at their home port the captain refused to pay the crew the money he had promised to them. The court held that, the sailors who remained with the ship were bound to do all that they could under all emergencies during the voyage, so a desertion should be considered an emergency the same as a death among the crew. Therefore the extra work is part of the performance of pre-existing duties. In conclusion, there was not provided consideration. However, an exception to the rule that performing a pre-existing contractual duty is not valid consideration for a new agreement was created......

Pendulum Coursework

...Pendulum coursework The year 10 extended group is investigating a pendulum; each one of us is going to change something to it, to make the investigation more interesting. The things that we could change are: * The length of the string (20,40,60,80,100,120,140,160,180,200; in cm) * The weight of the plasticine (55 grams) * Shape of the object, aerodinamicity (ball, sphere) * The angle of where you started to throw the plasticine, (45º) The things that we could measure or observe are: * Amounts of laps in a given time (10 laps) * In how much time it stops * Its speed/ acceleration * Time to do certain amount of laps I decided that I will change (independent) the length of the string of the pendulum (measurements: 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200; in cm) and I will measure/observe (dependent) time to do certain amount of laps. (10 laps.) My question is: How much time it takes to do 10 laps? What I will keep the same is: * The weight of the plasticine (55g) * The shape of the object (sphere) * The angle of where I started to throw the plasticine (45º) My prediction is: When I change the length of the string of the pendulum I think what will happen to the laps of the pendulum is that as longer the string the less laps will the pendulum do. This is because the pendulum will take more time to return to its initial point, for the reason that it is a longer distance to travel so it will take longer. Method 1. Make......

Credible information such as, the U.S. Census Bureau has presented statistics on women’s and men’s earnings for several decades. By analyzing a series of data, it was feasible to understand the trends in the wages. According to research analysis prepared by Consad Research Corporation, there is a difference. In pay directly associated with gender that dates back to three decades (Consad Research Corporation, 2011). Confidence Interval In addition to the Consad Research, information includes addressing data analysis using descriptive statistics, which included central tendency, dispersion, and skew data and statistical data using graphic and tabular techniques, was provided. A confidence interval was also computed to support the team’s conclusion. From our research the confidence interval is M 73.0 – 4.8 = 69.1 < M 73.9 > 73.9+ 4.8= 78.7Females earn 73.9% + 4.87 of male wages. The formulated problem statement supports a series of data collected from comparable scenarios. The notion of distribution of labor acted as the motivating factor in deriving many theories in the study of organizations. There are four concepts that makes up the concept of distribution of labor: 1) hierarchy of authority, 2) span of control, 3) centralization versus decentralization and 4) specialization of function or task.
