1) It is important for HR to be a strategic partner to business to handle business issues that are common in the work place such as balancing family life and work as well as cultural/religious beliefs. By handling these types of issues, HR will promote the ability and add value as well as increasing the profits from maintaining employees by dealing with the issues that otherwise complicate the business aspect of the organization. Costs for handling these issues will be reduced drastically which in turn, will enable HR to continue to maintain a high productivity level in the labor field. In order for this to happen the cash flow throughout the organization has to continue in order to pay for job-related costs etc. "Superior HR practices, including hiring the right people to support company strategy, seems to support productivity and profitability." (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2010.) It benefits HR to work hand-in-hand with a business based on strategies because of the fact that HR can focus on the overall design which consists of careful, yet efficient planning and development of current and/or potential workers. Business current and future goals can be met by integrating workers from diverse backgrounds and taking into consideration their ideas and special skills in their strong areas. An organization's mission is very important along with its objectives. Understanding the requirements that assist to help to meet these accomplishments are vital to an overall organization. Having the right effective leadership or management to lead the HR team makes a difference. Is the Linkage Between News and Citizen Engagement Broken?

...Austin Prunty Discussion 4 Is the linkage between news and citizen engagement broken? Can the Internet fix it? Explain. Youth are indifferent to news and politics today. Most of today’s youth are swept into over stimulated digital environments and try to earn a career and a living just like their parents before them did but don’t focus on things that do not directly affect their life like the newspaper. I believe that youth are indifferent to news and politics unless they are influenced through peers and media, family upbringing or if they are concerned with social change. Youth that are aware of news and politics at an early age may take an interest in them as a career choice or a desire to make a difference in society. Author David T. Z. Mindich believes that, “the linkage between an informed citizenry and political and civic engagement has been broken in contemporary society” (p.351). He also says that our democracy will pay the price for this. I believe the main reason behind the problem of lack of engagement is “some feel that the education system has failed to produce appropriate levels of civic knowledge” (p. 352). This is true in schools everywhere because most teachers are not allowed to share their personal views on their political position to students and therefore neglect to inform their students of the vital information about how to make their own educated political position. So the linkage between news and citizen engagement is broken because it was......

Strategic Linkage Assignment

...Mya Williams DeVry University MGMT 410 Professor Doreen Lawrence 03/10/13 Strategic Linkages 1. It’s important for HR to be a strategic partner to the business because you want the greatest chance of longevity in the business it needs to have a plan for the future. In the text for strategic direction-“Human resource linkage their needs to be mission, objective and goals, strategy, structure and people” (DeCenzo, 114). With these five organizational steps helps create order within each level of the business. HR should be responsible for creating and accomplishing strategic goals for the organization. They have the professional skills to provide proper training and develop skilled labor force. These task and efforts will help HR contribute to the success of the company. 2. The benefits the employees derive from this arrangement are training on the constant evolvement on technology. In the discussion we talked about the four functions of human resources management; staffing, training, motivation and maintenance. I feel the two main factors are training and motivation it’s critical for any employee to get the proper training especially to engage in the virtual world. Technology has created opportunities how we work and the way we work. Companies have gone the virtual route to reach a broad audience and also people are able to run businesses from their homes. This allows the HRM to focus more on giving educational attention to programs or machines to be used at......

Financial Linkage

...Case study Bangladesh: Financial Linkages in Bangladesh Abdul Awal, Director, CDF Abstract: Microfinance in Bangladesh has almost reached the stage of a matured market. However, there are still substantial segments of potential clientele who are not serviced by any microfinance organization (MFI). Inadequate finance is one of the most important reasons MFIs have not reach these clients. Fund shortage is more prevalent among the smaller MFIs. Moreover, due to the scaling up of microenterprises of the existing clients, they are requiring larger loan amounts. On the other hand, though the formal financial organizations are burdened with significant amounts of excess liquidity, they are not in a position to directly provide services to microcredit clients - it is not viable. Even funding operations of smaller MFIs directly, are out of their reach. In such a situation, an effective linkage between the MFIs with financial constraint and banks with excess liquidity is a simple but highly effective solution. Introduction Poverty has always been on the development agenda in Bangladesh. In the history of this country, poverty has been rampant and presently Bangladesh is third in terms of number of poor following India and China. It is a densely populated country of only 150,000 square kilometers and a population of around 140 million. The country consists mainly of a flat delta plain. In addition to its very high population density, the country has a limited natural resource base and......

Strategic Linkages

...Strategic Linkages December 15, 2013 1. Strategic partners (also called strategic allies) are two or more companies that will work together in joint ventures. Strategic partners often share long-term relationships and all parties within the partnership strive towards similar goals. Partners also do not get in the way of each other. Instead, they reinforce one another in order to obtain their set business objectives. Strategic planning produces fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization is, what it does, and why it does it. It is important for an HR department to be a strategic business partner because it allows them to be able to work in and with every other department in an organization. There’s even a strong need for the HR function to adopt a more strategic and business like approach too. Due to this type of involvement, workers at all stages of employment will become familiar with, and trust, the HR team. Some corporations may even find it beneficial having HR members present in corporate business meetings. A proper HR team should help with moving business in the right direction and should also know what the goals of the people they manage are, and what motivates them to move forward. 2. By arranging HR to be a strategic partner, employees will develop a greater understanding of how the business that they work for actually functions. Employees that are blindly working towards an unknown goal tend to lose......

Global Linkage of Foreign Exchange Markets

...Global Linkage of Foreign Exchange Author Info Elena Andreou Maria Matsi Andreas Savvides Registered author(s): Andreas Savvides Abstract This paper investigates bi-directional linkages between the stock and foreign exchange markets of a number of emerging economies. A quarto-variate VAR-GARCH model with the BEKK representation is estimated for each of twelve emerging economies to test for spillovers, both in terms of return and volatility, between the emerging stock market, foreign exchange market and global and regional stock markets. We find significant bi-directional spillovers between stock and foreign exchange markets. We also examine the effects of a country’s choice of exchange rate regime, on the one hand, and the Asian financial crisis, on the other, on the volatility spillover mechanism. Linkages of Plant Traits to Soil Properties

...21 October 2014 Review of: Linkages of plant traits to soil properties and the functioning of temperate grassland The researchers and authors of this paper looked at the idea of plant-soil interactions and how their traits can be a tool to help understand ecosystem functions. Global climate change has affected many factors involved in ecosystems and their functions, and this will continue to happen. A very likely outcome of continued climate change is the changing of plant communities and their traits. This in turn affects the surrounding soil, and that will have an impact on the nutrient cycling which rely very heavily on the soil to be the mediator. Most of Earth’s processes and functions are interconnected and are difficult to alter without having an effect on something else. The relationship of plant traits to ecosystem properties can tell researchers a great deal about the current state of the ecosystem and the kind of functions that are present. Key nutrient cycles such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon are intricate and affected by many factors. The researchers of this paper believed that by studying the plant traits and soil properties they could gain a better idea of these cycles and the way that they are affected. Their main goal was to determine whether or not the traits of co-existing grassland species grown with different growth strategies would have an effect/differ the soil properties. They measured the plant traits on fresh leaf, litter, and......

Week One Strategic Linkages

...Zachary Denning Week 1 Strategic Linkages HRM-310 1. A strategic partner linkage between HR department and the business operations creates a mutually beneficial relationship. Our text book states that strategic human resource management creates a clear connection between the goals of the organization and the activities of the people who work there (DeCenzo, Robbins, & Verhulst, 2009). What this means is that the employees are able to see the direct connection between what they do and how it helps the organization achieve their objective. When these goals are aligned, it means the departments can work in unison and synchronize their needs. When the HR is a strategic partner, they will be able to recruit employees from the right sources to ensure they are selecting people with the right skills and abilities. In addition, the HR will be able to focus the efforts of training and development towards the organizational objective. This means that they are not only recruiting the right people for the job, but they are using a strategic method to keep them properly trained. On top of the training of new skills, an HR strategic alignment helps employees develop those skills necessary for the organization to achieve its goal. As a strategic partner, HR masters all of the functions to find and keep a force of proficient employees. In fact, research shows that companies that link strategy with human resources show increased profitability and shareholder value ((DeCenzo,......
