I. Self Competency (93). My profile displays an above average level of Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs). I identify my strengths and utilize the effects to my advantage during daily operations on the job. I focus on improving areas needing improvement and adapt to new changes in life and work. II. Communication (89). Based on the student sample, I possess strong skills in the area of communication. My areas of improvement are my abilities to present information effectively to an audience. This ability is very important to effectively present information, especially considering my future plans of employment (management). My lack of ability to recognize nonverbal gestures could lead to a misunderstanding. This could cause friction on the job during the process of accomplishing daily duties and responsibilities. III. Diversity (92). Focusing on areas of diversity and understanding individual’s uniqueness during my daily life experience with others. I display the strong competencies for recognizing individual characteristics and using the unique strength as a mean to develop a competitive advantage throughout life and on the job. My lowest score was (7), based on the results, which means that I’m less likely to include ideas and values of those different from my characteristics. IV. Ethics (97). ...Lowe, D.J Lord Alfred Tennyson’s “Tears, Idle Tears,” On the Edge Lord Alfred Tennyson’s “Tears, Idle Tears,” conveys the complex emotions of one whose life is steadily reaching its end and death is looming over him. He has come to that point in his life where he truly realizes his position. Death is no longer surreal as it once was; however, the speaker is still at peace because he has lived his life. His friends have all gone on and now his own time has arrived. This poem is a lamentation of that person as they are reminded of their past and “of the days that are no more”. The poem’s message is reinforced through Tennyson’s diction and similes, which create many parodies within the poem. However, theses parodies are the keys to the readers’ noticing and understanding the intricate thoughts of one so near to that final breathe. The poem begins with the speaker describing his tears as “idle” and being groundless. Tennyson is not saying that the tears are unmoving or that they are without cause. The speaker may not necessarily be able to admit to the exact reasoning behind the tears, but he knows what causes them to surface, “some divine despair”. Yet despair is not divine; divine means heavenly or celestial. Tennyson means that the focus is on something from above. However, the irony can truly be seen in the physical cause of the tears, “In looking on the happy-autumn fields.” The word autumn implies harvest, almost winter, which signifies an end to something......

The theory of queuing is an analysis of the probabilities associated with waiting in line, assuming that orders, customers, and so on arrive in some pattern (often a random pattern) to stand in line. A common situation is that on the average, a facility may have excess capacity, but oftentimes, it is more than full, with a backlog of work to be done. Often, this backlog has costs associated with it, including penalties to be paid or customers who walk away rather than wait. If a firm expands its capacity to reduce waiting times, then its costs go up and must be paid even when the facility is idle. Queuing theory is used to find the best level of capacity, the one that minimizes the costs of providing a service and the costs of those waiting to use the service. ...What Did You Do With Your Idle Time Manuel Bendana ENG 125 Introduction to Literature Prof. Benjamin Mirov November 5, 2012 Billy Collin’s poem, “You, Reader,” is a humor-filled narrative that catches the reader’s attention and illustrates how two strangers are interlaced with one another all while showing how idle time can be used productively. While reading the poem, it can also be noted that time and what you choose to do with it is a constant theme. The persona in this poem, who happens to be the speaker, expresses how he is linked to the reader. The main link between the reader and the author is the poem itself in its literal sense. Grabbing the Reader’s Attention The poem begins with an attention-grabbing dramatic monologue; “I wonder how you are going to feel when you find out that I wrote this instead if you” (as cited in Clugston, 2010, section 12.1). This very first line comes off as arrogant and cocky, in result creating dramatic tension between the speaker and the reader. The persona grabs the reader’s attention by using detailed imagery about the particular day that he sat down to write the poem. The narrator paints a picture by describing the environment that he was in while writing the poem. Therefore the employees of Allstate’s are equipped with clear and defined goals, generating a more energetic and productive workforce. The company established moderators to buffer the relationship between goals and performance. Through their employee development process, employees receive an assessment of their current job skills and are given a road map for developing the critical skills that are necessary for advancement. Idle No More

...Idle No More Wilfredo Q. Mamaril Jr Stenberg College Idle No More The “Idle no More” movement is a grassroots political undertaking of a large group of Canadian Aboriginal people which consist of First Nations, Inuit’s and Metis. The primary focus of the movement is on Indigenous rights and environmental protection. It began as a fairly small group in Canada, but rapidly became international in scale essentially from rapid proliferation through the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter (OJEN, n.d.). The movement has also attracted a great deal of attention in the Canadian national and local mainstream media, through rallies, protests, teach-ins and direct political actions. Political actions such as flash mobs and round dances around the country protested against omnibus Bill C-45 (currently known as the Jobs and Growth act, 2012) that was introduced and announce by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in October 2012 without consulting the Indigenous peoples (OJEN, n.d.). The vision of Idle No More is to “call on all people to join in a peaceful revolution, to honour Indigenous sovereignty, and to protect the land and water” (idlenomore.ca, n.d.). The Idle No More manifesto contends that “the state of Canada has become one of the wealthiest countries in the world by using the land and resources. As mentioned before with the example of jewelry consumers, if the owner’s of vacation homes do send their children to public school, then the tax would be justified according to the benefits principle. To evaluate if a tax code is horizontally equitable, one must determine which differences are relevant for a family’s ability to pay and which differences are not. In the case of a sales tax on jewelry, if a family is able to pay for jewelry it is most likely able to pay for the sales tax on said jewelry. The same is true for a family with a vacation home. If a family can afford to have two homes, it can probably afford to pay the property taxes on the price of both of their homes. According to the horizontal equity theory, in both the case of a sales tax on jewelry and a property tax on vacation homes, the tax codes seem equitable. I think that both sales taxes on jewelry and property taxes on vacation homes would be considered as progressive taxes. This is because since high-income taxpayers are the ones buying the jewelry and owning vacation homes. Because low income tax payers do not incur any of the costs of buying jewelry or owning vacation homes, none of their income will be taxed. On the other hand, the upper class will pay a larger fraction of their income on taxes, due to the taxes they pay on jewelry and vacation homes....

...An essay has been defined in a variety of ways. One definition is a "prose composition with a focused subject of discussion" or a "long, systematic discourse".[1] It is difficult to define the genre into which essays fall. Aldous Huxley, a leading essayist, gives guidance on the subject.[2] He notes that "the essay is a literary device for saying almost everything about almost anything", and adds that "by tradition, almost by definition, the essay is a short piece". Furthermore, Huxley argues that "essays belong to a literary species whose extreme variability can be studied most effectively within a three-poled frame of reference". These three poles (or worlds in which the essay may exist) are: The personal and the autobiographical: The essayists that feel most comfortable in this pole "write fragments of reflective autobiography and look at the world through the keyhole of anecdote and description". The objective, the factual, and the concrete-particular: The essayists that write from this pole "do not speak directly of themselves, but turn their attention outward to some literary or scientific or political theme.
