Computer and Internet are important for a child’s education, but others think students can learn more effectively in school and with teachers.
Nowadays, computers and the internet are rapidly growing in their popularity in education for their marvelous functions. Thus, whether teachers or computers and the internet enjoy a vital role in education has aroused wide concern in public. Some individuals argue that computers and the internet have become an indispensable part of education. While others believe that for effective learning, schools and teachers are still important.
It is an undeniable fact that the significance of teachers can never be ignored. To start with, in learning and practice of more complex ideas, the computer is inadequate. It can tell if the answer is right or wrong, but it cannot tell where the student went wrong. Therefore, tasks involving reasoning cannot be taught using computers. Moreover, schools are places where students learn many practical skills apart from academic education. Those skills can be taught best by teachers. For example, experiments of physics and chemistry are best learnt by teachers guiding in the school setting. This cannot be achieved by the internet and computer.
Furthermore, teachers can stimulate interest and interest stimulated people tend to learn more. They can provide a faster and simpler way to present information to the student. Thus, students can learn more complicated knowledge in an easier way. As a result, a sense of achievement and confidence are built up to encourage students learn more.
On the other hand, it is also true that the internet is an ocean of knowledge. Information about any topic on earth can obtained from the internet. However, the authenticity of the information cannot be guaranteed. What information to gain and from where to gain it requires expertise. Therefore, students still…...
