Dear Mr. Von Dohlen, Hello my name is Kimberly Bueno and I am a junior here at Woodrow Wilson High School. I was born on September 18, 1995 here in Los Angeles, California. During my free time away from school, I like to read, write stories, drawing, dance, go shopping, and make jewelry. I am currently planning a story but I am having a difficult time decided on the topic. I want to write about something different than other books out there. My favorite thing to do on the weekend is go to the mall. My favorite stores are Forever 21 and Macy’s. I have four sisters name Sandra, Nancy, Cristal, and Tracy. The oldest is thirty-four, thirty-two, twenty-nine, and twenty-five. The two oldest sisters are married. Nancy married her husband in Hawaii a year ago. I was glad to be part of it with the whole family. I live with my parents Martin and Guadalupe Bueno and two sisters Tracy and Cristal. My parents were both born in Mexico. My mother is from a very small town name Romita and my father from the city of Aguascalientes. They came to the United States in 1975 and became U.S citizens in 1996. I speak both Spanish and English. I only speak Spanish to my parents. My parents motivate me to do well in school and to persuade my dreams. To never quit. My plans for senior year are to pass all my classes with a high GPA, pass my SAT test, and graduate. There are two careers I am interested in persuading. The two careers are in law or fashion design. I like to argue with people and work with different cases but on the other hand I enjoy fashion and want to change the fashion world. I want to take AP Biology because it will help me with my career in law. As a lawyer, you have to know science very well and this class will not only help me learn things. But it will expand my education. My greatest concerns about AP Bio are the amounts of homework and the test. Test is a huge part of…...

Direct Marketing

...Definition: Direct Marketing delivers promotional messages directly to potential customers on an individual basis, such as postal mail, telemarketing and direct e-mailing, in contrast to mass media such as television, radio or the Internet. It is a form of advertisement in which physical marketing materials are provided to customers in order to communicate information about a product or service.1 This form of marketing seeks to create an action (visit the store, demand further information, enter companies website) from the target group in response to a message from the marketer. Furthermore it shows measurable responses from consumers, regardless of the medium. Benefits: The major components in Direct Marketing are the evaluation and measurement of responses. The usage is very popular with marketers, because its results can directly be measured. Meaning that, if a company addresses 500 letters to their customers and 50 of them respond to the promotion, one can conclude that the mailing campaign led to a 10 percent directl response (measurement of efficiency). Furthermore the tool allows a company to create a qualified and potential database and feedback system for its own future use. Delivering promotional messages directly to the potential customer can easily raise awareness of the business/ product. A personal interaction (face-to-face) is not necessarily required so customers do not have to interact with salespeople. Most importantly Direct Marketing helps to......

Direct and Indirect

...DIRECT AND INDIRECT APPROACHES In writing letters, memos, and e-mail messages (the focus of Chapters 2 and 3), one issue that you'll need to consider is whether your message is one that is likely to be well-received or one that may encounter resistance or ill-will--a "bad news" message of some type. Searle’s spends a good bit of time in Chapter 1 discussing tone and making sure to use a reader-centered perspective that utilizes a "you" approach and positive wording. In addition to a reader-centered perspective, however, you also should consider the difference between what is called a direct and an indirect approach when organizing letters, memos, and e-mail messages, especially ones that convey bad news. DIRECT APPROACH The direct approach anticipates no resistance to its message--for instance, "you've been hired," "your order is being shipped today," or even "the project will be done in one week." In this case, organizing your message is simple. Searle’s mentions that memos and letters should have some kind of brief introduction, sometimes as its own paragraph. If you're using the direct approach, this introduction is simply a straightforward statement of the main point of the message. For instance, if you are writing a letter to confirm an order, simply begin by stating, "We have received your order for part #23-B-4439 and are shipping it today." Then the rest of the letter can provide details like shipping time, cost, etc. Whenever possible, use the direct......

Marketing Direct

...Direct and Indirect Cash Flows XACC/290 July 9, 2014 Jessika Ray Christopher Phillips Direct and Indirect Cash Flows When a company is trying to convert the net income from an accrual basis to a cash basis they would use either the direct method or the indirect method. When completing the conversion the company will have the ability to come to the same total amount for the “net cash provided by operating activities.” Even though the company can use either method to come up with the same total there are different steps used with each method. The method which is used by most companies is the indirect method because it is more cost effective and easier to use. This method is also the best way to reconcile reported net income to cash provided by operations. When computing the cash flow from operations you would begin with the net income for the company. Then add back any non-cash expenses such as depreciation and amortization. You will also need to make adjustments for gains and losses on any sales or assets during the period in question. When making the adjustments you will need to add the losses in and subtract out the gains. There needs to be an account for changes in any non-cash assets. These are any current assets the company has during the period. Finally, you must account for changes in any and all assets and liabilities. These assets and liabilities do not include notes payable or dividends payable. On the other hand the other method is the direct method.......

The Direct Approach

...Title: The Direct Approach 3rd Presenter I. INTRODUCTION A. With a show of hands, how many of you are direct? In other words, you come right out and say what you think. How many of you come right out even if the news is bad? B. Like some of you, many organizations use straightforwardness when they want to communicate negative messages. C. Transition: Delivering bad news is something that you cannot avoid when doing business, and therefore, I will show you how to identify when to use the direct pattern for announcing bad news and how you can use the direct strategy effectively in your messages. II. BODY When to use the direct approach A. First, it is important to understand in what situation should the direct approach be used when delivering bad news. These situations include: * When the reader expects the bad news. The direct approach is perfect when the people receiving the message already knows that there is a possibility for receiving bad news. * When the receiver may ignore the bad news. If the message is important such as new policy requirements or legal announcements and you don’t want your readers to ignore it, the direct approach can help you get his or her attention. If you put the information somewhere in the middle of the message, the important news may be disregarded. * When the organization or receiver prefers directness. Sometimes it is a company’s policy for all internal messages and announcements to be......

Introduction Kotler P et al (2012) defines direct marketing as direct communications with carefully targeted individual consumers to obtain an immediate response and cultivate lasting customer relationships. Kayode O (2014) further defines direct marketing as the process involved in selling goods and services without the aid of wholesaler or retailer and such activities involve direct response advertising, advertising for leads which sales people can follow through to achieve sales. This can be in the form of recording, analysis and tracking of customers’ direct responses in order to develop loyalty. West D et al (2010) points out the main scope of direct marketing as customer retention though there may be some acquisition involved. Direct marketing uses media which is more specific and targeting specified individuals or organisations and request an immediate response. The Direct Method

...THE DIRECT METHOD An English class at a lower secondary school in Italy. The teacher is calling the class to order. He has placed a big map of the United States in the front of the classroom. He asks the students to open their books to a certain page number. The lesson is entitled ‘Looking at a map’. As the students are called on one by one, they read a sentence from a reading passage at the beginning of the lesson. The teacher points to the part of the map the sentence describes after each has read his sentence. The passage begins: We are looking at the map of the United States. Canada is the country to the north of the United States, and Mexico is the country to the south of the United States. Between Canada and the United States are the Great Lakes. Between Mexico and the United States is the Rio Grande River. On the East Coast is the Atlantic Ocean, and on the West Coast is the Pacific Ocean. In the East is a mountain range called the Appalachian Mountains. In the West are the Rocky Mountains. After the students finish reading the passage, they are asked if they have any questions. A student asks what a mountain range is. The teacher turns to the blackboard and draws a series of inverted cones to illustrate a mountain range. The student nods and says, ‘I understand’. Another student asks what ‘between’ means. The teacher replies, ‘You are sitting between Maria and Giovanni. Paolo is sitting between Gabriella and Cettina. Now do you understand the meaning......

Direct Marketing

...Direct marketing The major role as advertising agency is to work alongside the clients to develop and sustain the brands that they mutually serve, through consumer understanding and insight and through creative and media delivery skills to provide best advice and the best execution thereof to those clients for the advertising of those brands. A product is something that is made, in a factory: a brand is something that is bought, by a customer. A competitor can copy a product; a brand is unique. A product can be quickly out-dated; a successful brand is timeless. The role of advertising and the advertising agency is to help effect this transformation from product or service to brand by clearly positioning the offering to the consumer, and by communicating the brand's own personality. There are few reasons why to choice an agency: • An advertising agency brings together people with the required expertise and experience of the various sub-disciplines of advertising. Thus, it has the copywriters, visualizes, researchers, photographers, directors, planners and people who get business and deal with clients working in ad agencies. An agency moulds all these people into a team and gives them a highly conducive work atmosphere. The agency makes the best use of their talents and experience to deliver rapidly, efficiently and in greater depth than a company or organization could do on its own. • Advertising agencies are highly professional. Objectivity is a major virtue of......

Direct Sellng

...participants.” Multilevel marketing (MLM) is a legitimate business model used by many direct selling companies. In a multilevel system sellers earn money based on the sale of products and services – either those they make personally or those made by others who they train and mentor. Direct sellers earn nothing for merely recruiting others. What’s the difference between a pyramid scheme and a legitimate direct selling company? Pyramid schemes seek to make money from you – as opposed to from the sale of goods and services. They are illegal scams in which those at the top of the pyramid make money from those who buy in below, making recruitment the primary or only goal. There is often a substantial buy-in fee and no actual goods or services to sell. In addition, they promise large earnings with little effort. Meanwhile, legitimate direct selling companies seek to make money with you as you build your business (and theirs) by selling real products and services. Start-up costs are minimal, often $100 or less. While your earning potential increases when you recruit others, it is not a requirement. Like traditional businesses, legitimate direct selling companies derive profits from the actual sale of goods and services to consumers. Why is direct selling often confused with, or compared to, pyramid schemes? Misinformation easily blurs the clean distinctions between pyramid scheme and legitimate direct selling companies. Pyramid schemes are illegal. The confusion is......

...Flow Statement The statement of cash flows (or cash flow statement) summarizes the significant reasons for the change in a company’s cash and cash equivalents during a period of time. The items are presented in the following categories: operating activities, investing activities, financing activities, and supplemental information. Since the income statement is usually prepared under the accrual method of accounting, the statement of cash flows provides information on the amounts of cash flowing in and out of the business. Some investors will compare the cash from operating activities to the amount of net income in order to assess the “quality” of a company’s earnings. Terms related to the statement of cash flows (SCF) include: direct method the method preferred by the FASB for preparing the SCF. indirect method the method used by most companies when preparing the SCF; operating activities begins with net income which is then adjusted to the cash provided by operating activities. operating activities activities involving net income. investing activities activities involving the purchase and sale of long-term assets. financing activities activities involving the borrowing and repayment of debt, long-term liabilities and stockholders’ equity (other than net income). Dell Direct and Not-so-Direct

...MARKETING 5000 Dell Direct and Not-So-Direct Case Summary When Dell started selling its computers in 1984 the company decided to sell its products directly to consumers through catalogs and phone orders cutting out the traditional middle men (wholesalers and retailers) the company handles all the interaction with customers. The company was very successful in using that business model and in 1997 they were generating around $1 million a day in sales just from its online store only. With this success the company extended its business outside the United States. Also, increased its targets market to consumers, small businesses, large businesses, and government agencies. Dell competitors such as Apple and Hewlett parked targeted the same markets but were selling their products through retailers and opening their own retail stores. Dell also tried selling through those mediums but the practice did not last long due to lower profit margin. Due to competition, in 2007 the Dell forged alliance with retailers around the world and started selling its products in stores so they can gain some of the market share. The practice was a success and now the company sells its products through more than 50000 retailers worldwide. Dell made it easy for its customers who visit the online store to locate a desired product at a store near them so they can pick it up in store. Another change the company made was they forge alliance VAR partners to provide them products for their customers.......

Direct Costs

...One of the major problems that could occur when using the analysis of direct material and other direct costs is over estimating. This is a problem that could easily be done on most projects, especially restoration projects. It would be easier to consider all of the “surprise factors” that may jump up throughout the construction period when bidding on newer projects but not as easy when looking at a restoration. This is a problem that I think gets many contractors into trouble. It would be very easy to look at the exterior of a wall and make a prediction about it, but until you get into it or behind it, you really do not know what you are working with. If you simply price out the work to redo the sheetrock and then you get it off and realize the studs and insulation also need to come out and be replaced, then you are in a bad place. If a contractor had already given the customer a bid and contract for replacing the wall, then it would be their responsibility to repair the entire wall for the price that they quoted. This would cause the contractor to dip into their profit in order to cover the cost for the new materials in order to complete the project that he is contractually obligated to fulfill. I think this problem could be easily resolved by leaving an open end contract on the table or submitting numerous contracts which would take into consideration some of the surprise factors. For example, if we look back at the contractor who is bidding on replacing a wall,......

Direct Marketing

...Direct Marketing by Geoff Lancaster © 1 Direct marketing explained Direct marketing is a collection of techniques that enables organisations to market goods and services directly to customers (business-to-customers or B2C). It is a pro-active approach to marketing that takes the product and/or service to potential customers rather than waiting for them to come to a store or other point of access. It is a form of ‘non-shop’ shopping and is sometimes referred to as ‘precision marketing’ or ‘one-to-one’ marketing. Rather than the marketing firm sending out a general communication or sales message to a large group of potential customers, even if these constitute a well-defined market segment, direct marketing tends to target specific individuals or households. In a business-to-business (B2B) context this would be an individual or a specific organisation or firm. Direct marketing is not just concerned with marketing communications. It is also concerned with distribution. In using direct marketing, the firm is making a choice to cut out the use of marketing intermediaries and sell the product or service direct to customers. This has implications for both channels of distribution and logistical decisions. Direct marketing comes in a variety of forms. It is one of the fastest growing areas of marketing and is being propelled by technical advances, particularly in the field of computer technology and the www. Academics and consultants have taken up direct marketing with......
