Dear Mr. President, Civic and political participation we can say that is the most important personal law for you to work with the government. We all have to follow the rules that the president and the entire government put as a U.S. laws but we all want democracy, we have to make our voice heard to see things happen the way we want to manage the situation, we have many different ways of doing it, we can do it on the internet, blogs, social media, newspaper or even walk to political institution reasonable. Civic participation is important because the people who lived in U.S. have the most power to change laws or even create them, the people in the United States have been raised in a democracy; that is when citizens have the loud voice to make things happen. If we don’t participate sometimes the government can change their rights. Civilians is the better way and the most powerful way to change anything on the government because the government have laws and rules for us to follow them and if we don’t like something only us can change it , for example Venezuela it was a country that the most power was from people who live in the territory including citizens and illegals but now the new president persuade the civilians to change laws that now it makes the country manage for the anarchy and no matter what the civilians do, only the government can change the laws. Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York on October 11, 1884. The niece of Theodore Roosevelt and wife of franklin D. Roosevelt since they married in 1905. She was the most outspoken women in the white house. Eleanor served at the United Nations, focusing on human’s rights and women issues, African-Americans and Depression-era workers bringing inspiration and attention to their causes. Eleanor Roosevelt changed the role of the first lady through her active participation in American politics, was the only…...

Dear Mr President Speech

...English Speech ‘Dear Mr President’ – P!NK The song Dear Mr President by Pink was written on Martin Luther King Day in 2005 and released in 2006. This song is described as an open letter to the President of the United States at the time, George W Bush. Pink’s distinctive voice addresses criticism to him and the policies of his administration. She describes it as one of the most important things she has written. The purpose of Pink’s song is to touch on emotional social issues such as the No Child Left Behind Act, the gay rights issues, the war in Iraq and the lack of empathy towards working middle class citizens. This song is directed at George Bush himself but also catches the attention of a wide audience such as American citizens and individuals who have listened to the song as the issues addressed in the song happen all over the world. The song starts with the line ‘Dear Mr President, Come and take a walk with me, let’s pretend we’re just to people and you’re not better then me’ by saying this Pink is trying to close the social gap between the president and everyday people while voicing her opinions to him and inviting him to listen. The lyrics to ‘Dear Mr President’ are bold statements represented by using continuous rhetorical questions as well as metaphors and the use of first person. Pink uses questions such as “What kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay” referring to his opinions on same sex marriage and his push for the Marriage......

Dear Mr. President

...Dear Mr. President, In this grate country we call America, we have the type of freedom that no other country has ever accomplished before us. Where all citizens regardless of race, religion, or ethnic origins has the right to life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Where anyone can stand up for what he or she believe in and be a part of a nation that fully supports and encourages people to fight for what is right. I would like everyone to take a moment of their time and remember that this gift, that we often take for granted, did not come without a price; and no one deserves our respect and thanks more than our first president George Washington. As one of the founding fathers he risked his blood, treasure and sacred honor to create the greatest nation known to man. I know that we already have president day, which was originally established in recognition of President George Washington, but perhaps we need a “Constitution Day” that focuses on George Washington and the other founding fathers and their work. George Washington was already a retired soldier who was no stranger to war, participating in the French and Indian war (1754-1763). Problems with Brittan started to spark conflict with the colonies. Britain deeply in debt after the French and Indian War demanded more revenue from the colonies (americanhistory.about.com). After a series of acts followed that restricted the colonies rights. In 1774 George Washington led a meeting to discuss growing problems with the...

Dear Maggie

...Dennis Nivar ENG102-L11 Extra Credit February 3, 2014 Dear Maggie, I am writing this letter to thank you and Momma for allowing Hakim and I to visit the both of you back home. Also thank Momma for the delicious food, and for making Hakim and I feel so welcomed. It was great to go back home after so many years and to see the both of you guys are doing great. Maggie, I also wanted to tell you that I have done a lot of thinking after the visit. I deeply apologize for the way I have acted towards you and Momma, and I was wrong. I apologize not just for my recent visit, but for everything that has happened in the past. I know I have never been the best daughter or sister but there is no excuse for my actions. It bothers me that you’re my only sister and we have never been close. I feel horrible for the lack of communication between us, and how I only wrote to Momma twice in four years. Ever since I left home to get an education and start a new life, I wanted to forget where I came from as much as I could. I couldn’t stand living the way we did and I wanted to break out of that cycle, which was the reason of the name change. I was ashamed of who I was and where I came from, which is wrong. I know I cannot get all of the time back that we did not spend together but I wish I can make that all up. I hope you and Momma can forgive me and maybe for my next visit we can start over again. Sincerely Dee (Wangero)...

Dear President

...Dear President Obama, How important do you think civic and political participation is? I think it’s very important Mr. President, because Civic and political participation prevents decisions from being made by a few people. In my opinion participation by the masses insures greater freedom. Mr. President, I believe you are familiar with Booker T. Washington. The brave intelligent man who started a college for African Americans after the civil war. He taught African Americans how to live successfully as free people. He also promoted education for African Americans all over the country, and gave instructions in subjects like taking initiative, buying or building houses, building a competitive business, budgeting, keeping a house, all kinds of things nobody learned while in bondage. Booker T. Washington was influenced by disfranchisement and the Jim Crow discriminatory laws enacted in the post-Reconstruction Southern states in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. So tell me, why don’t we have a national holiday celebrating and honoring Booker T? Washington sir? He has done so much for African Americans like me. Thanks to him your daughters and I can go to college and get a higher education. He definitely deserves a holiday celebrating just him and his accomplishments. So, start working on making that happen Mr. President. Sincerely, Britt Ray Works Cited “Bio.” Booker T. Washington Biography, 2015. Accessed February 19, 2015 at......

Dear Mr. President

...Dear Mr. President, Civic participation is very important because every citizen (or at least the majority of them) need to engage in the public sphere, including political processes. Media participates often because it lets the public know what’s going on in society. Political participation is also important because if people don’t vote, there wouldn’t be a politically balanced system. No one would be in charge, and people would be in havoc. There was one person that influenced the political participation and that is Susan B. Anthony. Susan contributed towards the right to vote. She drafted the 19th Amendment which clearly states “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex”. The amendment made a huge impact because before the Amendment was ratified, women weren’t allowed to vote. Susan felt as if womn deserved to vote no matter what sex they were. There were many womans rights activists that supported the womens rights to vote but Susan was the only one that expressed her feelings to the public and made a difference. She wanted fairness between bth sexes. Men had more advantages than women in their society at the time. This motivated her to stand up and do whats right for the future of woman, and that woman deserve the same rights as men. Susan should have her own holiday because she honestly deserves it. She changed the lives of every woman ever. She allowed every......

Dear Andy

...Rebecca McDonald 9 October 2014 Dr. Shafer English 101 Dear Andy: My friends and I are thinking of going on a LSD trip since our grandparents always speak so nostalgically of it when they were lucid. Could you give me some research on the history and effects of this enigmatic drug off the 60's? Should we do it? By the way we are in our mid- twenties. Tripping into Yesterday... Dear Tripping into Yesterday: In today’s society illegal drugs are a big, controversial topic that is talked about frequently. Whether they are trying to legalize the drug or people are getting busted for the possession of it. You have a great question, and it is good to be curious about things in life. Let me tell you a little more about LSD, more than what your grandparents know. LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) is a compound derived from lysergic acid and is used as a powerful hallucinogenic drug. The acid comes from a type of fungus that grows on grains like rye and wheat. It came about when a chemist by the name of Albert Hofmann first synthesized LSD in 1938 while looking for a blood stimulant. Although its hallucinogenic effects where not known until 1943 when he accidently ingested it. The drug was first tested on animals to ensure safety to be tested on humans. After the discovery of its extraordinary psychic effects, the substance had its first trials on animals. They were admitted into the series of experimental preparations. Most of the fundamental studies on animals were carried......

Dear, Mrs Hopkins

...Dear Mrs Hopkins, I have read your article and I am sorry but I strongly disagree with what you are stating. I think it is appalling that you think like that, it’s a very unfair way to judge children as they didn’t choose their name, their parents did. Preventing your children from enjoying their childhood because of another child’s name is shameful. Children have the right to interact with other children regardless of their background and it is through interaction with a diverse range of abilities yours will develop into well rounded individuals. I think it’s rather hypocritical of you to say you don’t like ‘geographical names’ considering you have called your daughter India? On a similar note, you said you don’t like seasonal names yet you have called your child Poppy whilst poppy is a flower rather than a season, it is a name taken for a similar desire to suggest something about your child’s nature. You have contradicted yourself without even knowing it which proves you are a hypocrite. Do you really think a child should suffer your judgement because of their name chosen by their parents? Surely you should be judging the parent not the child. As a matter of fact you shouldn’t be judging anybody! You think that children should only be friends with those who will ensure they’re an academic inspiration. ‘Children who chose less successful friends ended up not doing as well.’ This is a shallow approach, you only appear to want your children to associate with......

...Dear Mr. and Mrs. ????? Bryan Kelly COM200: Interpersonal Communication Instructor Angela Gillette 8/15/2011 Dear Mr. and Mrs. ?????, First off, let me welcome you to a brand new world of love, care, family bonds and holy matrimony. My name is Bryan Kelly, and I am going to give you an idea of how interpersonal communication is going to affect your lives, and the skills/knowledge you will need in order to find yourselves together and still happy 50 years down the road. Marriage today seems, to some, to be a fly-by-night operation. I stand here today writing you to let you know that this does not have to be the case. If you two are willing to take suggestions and follow a simple set of rules based on a health relationship built on proper interpersonal communication, then you have a chance to find yourself happy and in love for some time to come. Communication is the keystone to any strong relationship. In order to truly understand ourselves and our loved ones, we must first understand the way that we interact in our day to day intermingling. Explain the principles and misconceptions in effective interpersonal communications. In the textbook Making Connections: Understanding Interpersonal Communication(Sole, 2011), we are shown that there are six basic principles at play regarding Human communications. First, we are told that communication is symbolic. Second, we are shown that communication is shared meaning. Third,......

Dear

...Dear Dongmei, Thanks for your letter, and I’m happy to show you some my opinions. As far as I’m concerned, Rachel’s behavior is understandable. You know, more and more students participate in the student exchange programme, and their character, purpose and so on are different. We can’t think they’re same. In fact, everyone is different. So I think Rachel doesn’t choose integrate into Chinese culture more because of her personal reasons. Perhaps Rachel is too much shy or unconfident to communicate, or she regards Chinese as a subject, or she doesn’t have power to learn. One possibility is that she is too shy or unconfident to communicate. What’s known is that character has a great influence on people. For example, a shy person doesn’t like talk more with people who is strange. And an unconfident person usually doesn’t tell someone his idea. Besides you’re good friends. So I think maybe as a result of her character, Rachel choose not to integrate into Chinese culture. Another possibility is that she regards Chinese as a subject. In my view, if someone does a work which he has no choice, his efficiency and enthusiasm are lower than he does a work which is his favorite. If she regards Chinese as a subject, her aim possible is high grade but communicate better. So she has little enthusiasm after class and chooses not to take some activities related to local culture. Certainly, it may be because she has no power to learn. It’s known that power makes us to be better. When we do......

Dear Mr. President

...Dear Mr. President, I am a photographer who’s observed many disturbing sights and am showing it to you so that you can see the perils that has befallen your country, Mr. President. I had the opportunity to visit many states where the Great Depression has hit the most, and was shocked to find how bad the lives of people were. In Illinois, there was a young boy whose dad didn’t have a job so they were unable to pay their rent for months. His brother couldn’t afford a car to go to school, so he hasn’t attended for 2 weeks, and the boy’s sister can’t seem to find work either. I observed these farmers in North Dakota that were homeless, beaten down by the rain and shivering because they didn’t have anything since the Dust Bowl wiped out all their crops and the Depression struck. They begged for anything I could give to help them. It was heartbreaking and sad. I took a picture of a 19-year old girl from New Jersey, and let me tell you Mr. President, she looks so old for her age. Her face is haggard and stretched. The effects of the Depression have really messed up our kids. The girl explained that she and her family just lost their house, and she needs money for her graduation. She also requested her glasses to be changed since her eyesight is very poor. I have taken time to think of some ways that could be of benefit to you and the people in figure out how to move past this terrible time. First off, there could be a lottery every week for the people in every state. Whoever wins......

Dear Mr Corbett

...Dear Ms Corbett, I note that your ethos says 'Granton pupils are encouraged to be thoughtful and responsible young people with high self-esteem and with the motivation, skills and knowledge to succeed in life.' I believe that I will be able to help these young people by being at the same level as them so that I can understand them and find ways of encouraging them to have high self–esteem and believe in themselves that they will succeed in education. I will be able to include this in any work that I undertake with the young pupils that attend your school, particularly as I have the ability to listen and empower people. Allowing young people to get their voices heard is a great tool in raising their confidence. I believe that I have the ability to make changes in society by using personal experiences and my educational knowledge to relate to those who I work with. I am aware in order to have a successful career within the health & social care sector I need to build my skills within a professional setting and Granton is the right profession because of how diverse it is. This is vital within health and social care as there are people from different ethnic backgrounds and culture, therefore it is really important for me to always be in an environment where diversity is valued and promoted.      Working with Granton will enable me to develop skills that will benefit me in my career, as well as passing my course. This experience will continue to make me more passionate in......

Dear

...Dear>>, In a few months you will be making one of the biggest adjustments of your life so far. Moving away from home, living on your own, and going to college are all very different and new experiences that you have never encountered. Everyone says college is the time of your life, and you need to make the most of it. I can remember being a Junior in high school thinking about how time was flying by, and I am now about to be a Junior in college. You will be faced with many decisions, some harder than others, and you will have to make many choices. My first big decision was to join Phi Mu. I was not sure I wanted to join a sorority initially, but after I went through the recruitment process I realized how it really was going to be a great opportunity for me. I am so happy with my decision, and I think you need to join a sorority too because I know you will love it as much as I do. I know you are a bit hesitant about joining a sorority because you still want to be friends with your high school friends. I also understand that you prioritize academic clubs over social fraternities. Furthermore, the idea of your grades dropping is also holding you back from participating in a sorority. Allison, I understand you are happy with all the friends you have now, and you do not think you need to meet anymore people. Based on my experience, those girls that have been friends with you since the first day you met in eighth grade will continue to be your friends whether you participate...

Dear Mr. Wiesel

...Dear Mr. Wiesel, I just finished reading your book Night. I read it in my English class. I found your story hard to read because of all that you and your family went through. It really made me think about what I would have done if I were in your situation. I’m not sure I could have been as strong as you. I don’t think I could relate anything in my life to that terrible time in yours. So in this letter I will be thanking you for you sacrifices in order to tell your story. When I was reading your book Night I couldn’t help but to think of my own family. It truly broke my heart when you said that was the last time you saw your mother and Tzipora forever. I couldn’t imagine having to go through that with my own family. But if I had to I would try to stay strong like you. I learned a lot more about the holocaust when I read your book. I learned that Hitler didn’t directly control each camp. Your experience has taught me so much. It has taught me to stay strong when I feel weak. A question I would like to ask you, Mr. Wiesel, is do you still have the tattoo the Nazi’s gave you? Did you get it removed? Personally I would keep it to remind me everyday that if I could survive the holocaust I could survive anything and thrive. Your story hit me on a personal level. I hate racism or anything of that nature. When I read this I got mad at Hitler. Mad at the entire Nazi party. Mad at other countries with the means to stop this massacre and didn’t. Is it okay to be mad Mr.......

Dear Mr. Brolin

...To: Bob Broline From: Kimberly Smith Date: December 6, 2013 Subject: After carefully reviewing the problems you are having with your business organization. I have come to the conclusion that that the best option for you and your company is for you to form your company into a Limited Liability Company. I am confident that after I share with you the reason for this change. You will also agree with me that a limited liability will be a good option for both you and your business. Mr.Broline, you are currently operating your business, Broline Woodworks, as a Sole proprietorship. I have talked about that you have liked the advantages of being a sole proprietor because you have the control over the business, all the profits are yours alone, and you only have to file a personal income tax. These advantages are all good parts of sole proprietorship. The Problem for you is the disadvantages of sole proprietorship, which your biggest concerns is personal liability. As a sole proprietor you are personally responsible for all liabilities. This means any judgments against your business; creditors can go after your personal assets. For these reasons I believe you should you and your business would be best severed if you formed into a Limited liability company. The most important reason you may want to consider a limited liability company is that it will protect your personal assets from creditors and legal judgments. Another aspect of a limited liability company is you will......
