Analysis 1.1

I will be conducting a rhetorical analysis for the article “'Iron' vs. 'Steel': Who'll be the 'Man' this summer? “. Who would you choose from the Genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist or a newspaper editor from the Daily News? If you can’t choose from those then how about Iron Man vs Man of Steel? Marvel movies have and will be the biggest movies ever made and DC movies are following in the shadows of Marvels Success. I know that man of steel movie didn't do better than any Iron Man movies in the box office because Marvel has great Movies already in its pockets. My evaluation of the target audience for this article happens to be toward young adults and older that are interested in movie income. To be most specific it would also go to the people that have a big fan base towards Marvel or DC. This article hits many clues towards its audience. First of all the Marvel and DC fan base, by including the names of Tony Stark and Clark Kent. These two names are very well known in the comic and movies since late due to movies and comics. The article also includes the amount that both moves made when it hit box office. This leads me to believe that the target audience is towards DC and Marvel fans and also young adults and older adults in financing. For the articles purpose was to get your answer if the man of steel movie would be a bigger hit in the box office than iron man 3. This article is date to June 2013 the same month the man of steel was released so upon further research the man of steel movie was only able to produce a 443 million dollar profit as to the iron man 3 movie produce a whopping 1 billion dollar profit. This difference can only be explained to the other movies that Marvel has made so there fan base is at higher margin than the DC movies. So when this article was published it asked if man of steel would bring in…...

...using stolen social security numbers of legal citizens or the deceased. In the end, this will cause citizens to have to pay more. Did you know that as American taxpayers we pay over $113 million a year for illegal immigrants? The dream act should not be a law that should pass for the reasons following. Claim 1: Taxes The extra money that we will need for these children of the illegal immigrants to go to the schools will increase our taxes. The 113 million dollars has to come from somewhere and we are not going to pay out of pocket for it. The immigrants who are legal with stolen identification all of that money is paid somewhere by someone and in the end it is all of the legal citizens that pay for it with higher taxes. Claim 2: The Dream Act will increase illegal immigration If the dream act were to pass, it would make more immigrants want to come to the US and possibly a higher crime rate. Immigrants will want to bring their children to gain their citizenship and enforce the anchor system so that if they will not have to leave the states. Using this system, the immigrants will be able to take full access of the dream act, which will cause there to be an abundance of students in the school. Claim 3: A path to citizenship rewards people for breaking the law In order for the immigrants to use the dream act, they will be breaking the law from the beginning by immigrating illegally and not obtain their citizenship. ...where everybody can have a gun and make their own decisions as to whether someone is threatening or not,"(par.3). In the April court case Zimmerman vs. Florida a young man named Trayvon Martin was walking back home from a convenient store where he grabbed a drink and snack during halftime of a basketball game. He walked passed a man named George Zimmerman. To Zimmerman, Martin was acting suspicious and so he called 911 and reported him (Fausset par.2-5). After the 911 call where he was told by police to not pursue Martin, Zimmerman took the law in his own hands and pursued and confronted Martin where he later murdered him, just because the way he was dressed and walking down the street (Baxley par.3). In 2007, a man named Joe Horn called 911 in Texas and reported two burglars next door at his neighbor’s house. After telling 911 that he had a shotgun and asked if he should stop them, he was told no. Horn said they were black males and that they need to hurry up because he wasn’t “...going to let them get away with this s***” (Patriot par.2). This is exactly the same thing that the police heard from Zimmerman in Florida. After the shooting Horn wasn’t taken into custody because the Grand Jury concluded that Horns killing of the two burglars was a justifiable use of deadly forces and not murder although Texas law states you can use deadly force to stop burglaries only when it’s your own property (par. 5) not your neighbors. Since Horn got away with killing the two burglars and......

...English Composition 1 Unit 2 Individual Project There are many different types of bully breeds in the world today but there is one specific breed that has been getting a lot of bad publicity here lately. The American Staffordshire terrier, also known as the pit bull is one of today’s most feared dogs alive. But why is that? In the next page or two I will share with you my personal experiences and a little bit of history behind the pit bull. Since the late 1800s pit bulls have been loved and feared at the same time. Some love to hate them and some just love them. Those that love to hate them never really do any true research on the animal if they did they would find out a lot about the dog that they did not know already. Pit bulls are loving dogs that just want to be loved back. Not all pit bulls are mean or vicious as most would like to call them. It’s all in how the animal is raised, if an owner raises a dog to be mean and fight then that’s all the dog will know. It doesn’t matter if it’s a pit bull or a poodle; any dog can be trained to be the sweetest dog in the world or the meanest dog that you will ever meet. We have all encountered a wide variety of dogs, some sweet some shy or skittish or some meaner than a mad momma when her child has been mistreated. In my life time there are many dogs that have approached me and was mean, then there was the ones that were as sweet as a new born baby.......

...“Jeffrey” gives an example of what some Gay men go through. It’s not quite like the article I drew some of my information from but it is a telling tale of relationships in that world and what some go through just to find happiness. The following is a brief synopsis of the movie.  Jeffrey, a young gay man in New York, decides that sex is too much and decided to become celibate. He immediately meets the man of his dreams and must decide whether or not love is worth the danger of a boyfriend dying. - Written by Trena Cormier <tc691278@condor.bcm.tmc.edu> Sources (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/26/us/us-appeals-court-rejects-utahs-ban-on-gay-marriage.html) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113464/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl) Part 2, story assignment No Escape From “Helicopter Parents” My opinions about parental involvement with their children are, parents need to be involved. Maybe not in absolutely everything, kids need some degree of independence so that they learn from mistakes, but they also need to know that they can talk to their parents about anything. Children also need to know they can “leave the nest” when they get older and not to be too dependent on them as they get older. Not necessarily counterproductive, but it can teach children the wrong thing. For instance, you don’t want your children to be living at home when they are 40. I would not be pleased if my parents had fit the criteria outlined here....

...to bring their religion into places where it does not belong. There is place for religion and that is in church where it belongs. Religion should be kept to yourself. Issue three: Capital punishment is no deterrent to crime. Two points are that homicide rates in states with death penalty are consistently higher than for those that don’t. There is no scientific proof that nations with capital punishment have a lower crime rate. Two counterpoints are that capital punishment is a relief for the victim’s family. If capital punishment happens that mean that person is off the streets for good and can never do it again Major: 1. Pros of tipping: might provide better service. Helps out the employees that might be getting paid that much. 2. Cons of tipping: They are already getting paid to do their job. There will be tip cup everywhere. Other people will be expecting tips on also. Everything will start costing more. The author’s claim is that the tip should not exist and I agree with him. ”I feel we are creeping slowly toward a kind of baksheesh economy in which everyone expects to be showered with coins simply for doing what they’ve already been paid to do.” If I had to argue against the author (in which I would never do) the best agreement would have to be that there many other people out there that tip some doing there job that they already get paid for....

...Composition 2 9/21/2014 Minimum wage in Ohio ranges from $7.25 to $7.95 Some of the top reasons a employee wants to leave their job is because it is not enough pay for the work they got to put in or it is because they do not have a chance to move up in the company if we increase a employees pay rate it would give them motivation to want to stay at their job and work harder to not try to lose their job. The problem with staying at a company forever is you start with a base salary and usually annual raises are based on a percentage of your current salary. There is often a limit to how high your manager can bump you up since it’s based on a percentage of your current salary. However, if you move to another company, you start fresh and can usually command a higher base salary to hire you. Companies competing for talent are often not afraid to pay more when hiring if it means they can hire the best talent. Same thing applies for titles. Some companies have a limit to how many promotions they allow each year. Once you are entrenched in a company, it may become more difficult to be promoted as you may be waiting in line behind others who should have been promoted a year ago but were not due to the limit. However, if you apply to another company, your skills may match the higher title, and that company will hire you with the new title. So stating people off with the increase pay rate will make them feel like they are all equal and will not make them feel like they got to wait......

...individuals that are willing to sacrifice a little of themselves and establish rules that they will follow are the responsible ones. Sometimes it takes a few liberties we should not have to give up, but do in order to protect the welfare of all. On that same note we should never give up our total right to carry all together. Making rules to follow in order to maintain our right as citizens of the USA is a small price to pay in order to make our nation a much greater nation. ...Amanda Rowan EN1420 February 25, 2016 Project pt 2 Do you hate the smell of cigarette smoke and would like to see it banned? In my opinion, I believe that cigarette smoking should be banned. Many people will say that it should and shouldn’t for many different reasons. According to Debate.org, 80% said it should be banned and 20% says that it shouldn’t be banned. Also according to Robert N. Proctor, he wrote “Why ban the sale of cigarettes? The case of abolition.” He states that cigarettes are the deadliest artefact in human civilization. Do you think cigarette smoking should be banned? Each year 6 million people die alone from smoking cigarettes. Death and product defect are two reasons to abolish the sales of cigarettes. Each year, more and more wild fires are caused by cigarette butts from people. Smoking cigarettes is the number one cause of lung cancer therefore deaths, lung cancer is almost entirely due to the use of low pH flue-cured tobacco in cigarettes. I believe smoking cigarettes should be banned because everyone wants to live a long healthy life, and since lung cancer is the number one cause of death that means if you are an organ donner, then when you die, nobody will be able to use a lung if need be because it turned out to be a bad lung. The purpose of this article is about hoe cigarettes should be banned and why. Cigarette smoking has corrupted media that’s very popular, newspapers, and also magazines.
