Fundamentals of Local Area Network

...devices to share and Internet connection and a Bluetooth wireless printer, I would recommend that family procure a wireless router, a modem, and a few CAT5e Ethernet cables. b. Explain the recommendations justifying why these would suit the needs for the network The family has several devices that need internet connectivity; the recommendations I made will make this happen. The modem connects to a wireless router, via plugging the broadband into the WAN port of the router, and the router will access the Internet through a unique IP address (assigned by the ISP). This will then provide local IP addresses for all of the devices connected to it, allowing the family to get Internet out to all of the devices (both wired and wireless). An advantage of having a wireless router is that it provides more safety, compared to connecting your broadband directly to your computer, because your computer's local IP addresses aren’t visible to the Internet, which means it's not visible to criminals or hackers. With all of this said, I would recommend to the family that the modem and wireless router be put into the same room as the computer and Bluetooth wireless printer, and then hard wire the computer and printer directly to the router, via the CAT5e Ethernet cables. I would personally setup the computer as a print server as well, handling all print jobs. As the print jobs come in to the computer, it will send the spooled jobs to the printer through the Bluetooth connection. This will......

The author says, There are three main measurements of the digital world: ■ Processing power, measured in the number of transistors and operations per second ■ Storage, measured in the number of bytes ■ Bandwidth, or digital data transmission, measured in bits per second At the end, she concludes, “As with CPUs (cost per MIPS) and storage (cost per KB), the cost per Kbps of bandwidth is rapidly approaching $0”. Do you agree with the author of the trend (Cost) rapidly approaching $0? If you don’t, why? If you do, then do you believe that the cost of Processing Power, Storage Power and Networking speed, will eventually be zero and we (normal people) will get these things for free. NTC 362 Week 1, DQ 2 There are two kinds of switching technologies in telecommunication: Circuit Switching and Packet Switching. Which one comes first? Which one is more complicated? Which Switching Technology is easy to implement for voice communication? Please see the attachment. Is it appropriate to use the analogy of train track vs. free way system to explain......
