How do I see myself? Often I'm asked how do I see myself. That is really truly a very hard question. Now I would think it would be easy to answer that question because who knows myself better than me. But it really is a hard question to answer honestly because I believe my mood for the moment will determine my answer. That can be unfair for me. Which is why it makes a question like that hard to answer. Normally, I would say I see myself as a sensitive, loving, fair person but also a bit nonchalant. Not lazy though. But let's say this question was ask right after I learned that I lost my job. Now I see myself as a failure. Which would make me have a character trait of being negative. Same question after some positive news like I got the job! Now my answer will be happy, a feeling of accomplishment. My character trait is now positive on myself. We all have good and bad days. I believe that each day could pose a different answer to that very same question. I also believe my wife and kids could answer that question for me as well because they see the good and the bad of me every day. They would pretty much say my character traits are the same. A good friend may only see the good side or only see the bad side of me. A friend may have the wrong impression of me. My character trait, as seen through their eyes, would be different. An employer will see me in a different light. My parents would see my traits differently. Who really has the right answer? There are other influences that can change how I see myself. The weather for instance. I hate hot weather. I don't like to sweat. I would see myself as irritable and cranky. Not very nice traits to have. When it's raining I feel down and depressed. I hate to see myself with those traits. I also get mad when it snows because I hate to shovel. How do I see myself?…...

Compare and Contrast the Character Traits of Jason and Medea in the Argonautica

...exceptional characters. The importance of these characters is reflected in the roles and traits that are assigned to them. This is because the plot is developed by the distinctive character traits displayed. In the poem Jason and Medea turn out to be the main characters whose roles are very crucial to the development of the plot. This write-up would therefore try to bring out the distinctive similarities and differences in character traits of Jason and Medea both in deeds and words of Apollonius Voyage of Argo. Typical of all mythical heroes, both Jason and Medea are of royal blood. Jason is a prince whose father, Aeson is the rightful king of Iolcus until the usurpation of his power by Pelias, Aeson’s half-brother a very power-hungry man who wishes to gain dominion over all of Thessaly. Jason is trained by a powerful master, Centaur far from home for the fear that Pelias might kill him and Jason only returns to Iolcus now to reclaim what is rightfully his, thus as a prince he did not get to enjoy a luxurious life. Medea however is a lady who enjoys the joys and luxury of being brought up by her father, Aeetes and therefore has no problems to worry over till Jason arrives in Colchis. Medea has her personal attendants with her everywhere she goes and as a princess she lives under the protection of her father. Although Jason he is a prince has to find for his right to succession of the throne. In book 1, Jason is described by Apollonius as “Warlike” a distinctive character......

Character

...I believe character is the component of all pieces of one’s personality that affect others and the world in a positive way. Character should be free from selfishness, because if you are only maintaining what appears to be “good character” in the hopes of boosting your own goals, that is not really character at all. I believe that I possess a strong character that strives to improve the lives of those around me. The main pieces that make up my character are faith, courage, and the desire to improve the lives of others. I think that the main component that drives my character is my faith. My strong and firm beliefs are what motivate every action I take and every thought I have. My hope is that the faith and strong morals I hold form the foundation of my character, for my character would not exist without my faith. Through my beliefs I strive to be a person who is loyal, friendly, caring, and most importantly compassionate. Courage is also a strong component of my character. Courage is what drives me to be successful, to chase my dreams, and to make something of myself. Without courage and the boldness to step out of my comfort zone, none of my goals would be accomplished, and my life aims would be much lower. Character is not only looking good in the eyes of others, but pushing to be the best “you” possible. Courage helps me do this. Finally, I believe to truly have good character, one must not be self-seeking. The most important aspect of my character is my desire to......

Character

...Character An individual’s character is based on a set of behavior traits that define the inner-self of a person. It determines whether a person will effectively achieve goals, have positive people skills, and/or obey the laws and rules of society. An individual’s character is a learned behavior. An individual typically develop their character from their surroundings such as parents, teachers, and friends. This development is either taught or observed by watching or listening to others. Character involves the attitudes and values of a person. Being honest, friendly, trustworthy, and kind are examples positive traits that can make up a person’s character. Dishonesty, rebellion, and laziness are negative examples of traits that make up a person’s character. An individual’s character can produce a judgment of the type of person you are or will be in society. Determination, respect, and self-discipline are all characteristics that describe me. Determination was always a character that I showed during childhood. Whether I was playing sports, studying for a test, or practicing a speech for a play, I was always determined to do my best. Determination is a positive trait that I have and as a high-school graduate my determination has paid off. I will continue to be determined because I want to be a college graduate and a positive mentor for other males in my community. The next character trait describes my motto in life: RESPECT. My motto in life is “Treat others as...

Character

...CHARACTER IS WHAT WE EARN Characteristics possessed by a person depict his individuality which ultimately constructs his personality referring to his traits. And therefore, character represents the true personality of an individual. One’s character can portray the quality of courage, honesty, his aggregate features and traits followed by ethical standards. People think the man who does not tease the girls is the man of character, but this is only one aspect of character. Becoming a beneficent, obedient, benevolent and honest person are some of the values being inherited in a child by his parents. Moral values from childhood teach him that he has to be morally excellent. But when he grows up and enters into the rat race of the society, he fails to remember what all his parents had told him. And the bitter thought of earning money by hook or by crook comes in his mind. Wealth has always been related with character building. And this reminds me of the old saying “If Wealth is lost...nothing is lost, If Health is lost...something is lost, If Character is lost...everything is lost”. I am not going to comment on this because of its vogue but to add that money cannot be the sole yardstick of a happy life. Health and Character are equally important. Focussing on the term ‘Character’, it is said that most of the things can be purchased in this world but one cannot buy his character. But, young people of today who possess an excellent calibre to do something more than what is......

Character Traits for Success

...Marianne Williamson asserts, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure,” which means we are not supposed to be afraid of our own abilities because we are stronger than we imagined. We have the potential to succeed in our lives, but we each depend on our characteristic traits to achieve our own ends. This idea about personal character traits is demonstrated by Akeelah’s perseverance in achieving her spelling bee championship. The movie Akeelah and the Bee, directed by Doug Atchison, tells of a young girl, Akeelah, who obtains the courage to win the national spelling bee contest by overcoming all the obstructions in her path and pushing herself to do her best. In the movie, Atchison shows that motivation, fearlessness, and persistence are three character traits that help people succeed. Motivation is the most important trait to help people to succeed. Motivation can be classified as a person’s passion to act upon his or her desired goal, which must be within that person’s reach. A strong passion for dreams can inspire people to do their best. For example, Akeelah is internally motivated to win the school bee. In the beginning of the film, Akeelah has exhibited her capability to remember and spell words that are far too complicated for her age. However, Akeelah’s life is plagued with difficulties, as her father isn’t there for her and her mother is too busy to pay attention to her needs. As a result, Akeelah doesn’t...

...head or a fake smile. However, I didn't want my parents’ sacrifice to go in vain. Failure is not an option, so I tried harder to persevere over that challenges such as studying, speaking without fear, reading more books and learning more from failure. I never let the fact that I am new to this language stop me. I want to be able to show family that I can be the person they always believed me to be. I’m really proud of myself because I will be the first generation in my family to graduate from high school and go on to college. Thankfully, I did well and overcame the difficulties in school. I realized that I was forged from a sense of responsibility efficiency in my learning and work. The pursuit of education has opened many paths for me and I have to improvise, adapt to the best of my ability. My parents sacrificed most of their life just for my future, and now I believe it is my duty to make up for everything they have done. Knowing that I would be the first in my family to graduate from college is what keeps me determined. Besides that, I also keep myself close to community is volunteer tutoring math in school for those students who need help in all mathematical subjects. I chose to tutor math, because I believe math is common and it occurs everywhere. I would love to see people succeed with a smile on their face. I am......

Antonio Character Traits

...Antonio’s Character Traits In the play the Merchant of Venice there are many characters with interesting traits that play an important role. In particular, Antonio, the merchant has two roles, which depict two sides to him. They are a good friend and prejudicial. Antonio is a good friend because he will do everything for a friend in need. Bassanio, Antonio’s friend, asked him for money and Antonio said, “Thou know’st that all my fortunes are at sea Neither have I money nor commodity To raise a present sum Therefore go forth, Thy what my credit can in Venice do.” (I, I, 179-182). Despite the fact that Antonio has no money at hand, he still finds a way and gives alternative ways to help Bassanio, which makes him a good friend. Also he said, “My purse, my person, my extremist means lie unlocked to your occasions.” (I, I, 140-141). This quote shows that Antonio will do everything in his power and offer any kind of help he possibly can to his friends, which makes him a genuinely good friend. Despite the fact that he is a good friend there is a let down in his personality. Antonio is prejudice and in the play he says, “I am like to call thee again. To spit on thee again.” (I, iii, 128-129). This quote shows just how prejudice Antonio is. He spat on Shylock (a Jew) just because he is Jewish. He doesn’t like him because of his beliefs and that makes him very prejudice. Just because Shylock does not believe in the same thing as Antonio, it does not give him the right to be rude and...

I was so nervous and when I arrived at the platform where they were going to hook me to the line I felt my heart would fly out of my chest any moment. Finally they pushed me off and I screamed my guts out but half way through it wasn’t......

...Mackenzie Blake 9/20/12 Essay 1 CHARACTER TRAITS OF A GOOD STUDENT There are many character traits of a good student. A few are: study habits, not procrastinating, and taking notes. If a student takes these traits and applies them to his student life they will benefit him and make him a good student. Good study habits are very important in a student’s life. There are a lot of ways a student can study. Making note cards or studying over class notes, taken during the week are very good ways to study for an upcoming test or quiz. Also studying away from the television, computer, cell phone, and other distracting things is a good way to study. Procrastinating is a very serious thing that every student should avoid to become a better student. Going ahead of time and getting assignments done is a good way to avoid procrastinating. Another way to avoided procrastinating is to start on your homework and studying as soon as you get home from school. Also taking advantage of study halls and other short breaks to get ahead on assignments is another great way to avoided procrastinating. Myself

...stronger. I never thought much about it myself, until I was faced with the shock, and undeniable truth of my cousin's death. I don't think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news. In evening, my mom was interrupted by a phone call from my auntie. The conversation was very serious and my mom started crying. She tearfully asked, "Is he ok? Was he alone?" I was thinking my cousin went riding and fell off from a motorbike or that something had happened to my auntie. My mom kept on saying “OH MY GOD, NO". My little brother asked, “What happened? What is going on?” And then my mom told us Aiman, my cousin was in a motorcycle accident just now and he didn't survive. I felt as if I was paralyzed, I felt that if I moved it would be real. I just had this blank look on my face. I had no reaction at first and I wanted to deny it, all of it. I kept saying to myself, no it is not true. To my complete horror I was wrong. In five years, I see myself as a valued employee of a company. I want to be an expert at my position and start training to be a manager. In five years, I want to be a senior event planner. I want my expertise to directly impact the company in a positive way. My goal is to become a lead in five years. Although not everyone gets promoted to this level, I believe I can achieve this goal through hard work. I want to continue gaining experience, and after learning many different aspects, I see myself I a management....

Character Trait

...become successful and have a strong will in their life. Character Trait Research Character traits can easily be observed through actions or responses to a situation or even how a person acts around you or others. It can be defined as strong, Humorous, kind, or else. For this character trait research, I chose strong/strength as a character trait. The definition of strong/strength is that the quality or state of being physically and mentally strong. Person can be strong at the ability to resist being moved or broken by a force or the person can be strong the quality that allows someone to deal with problems in a determined and effective way. Getting the strong as solid character trait requires a lot of mind control. Usually when people sees the person who has a strong characteristic or trait either physically or mentally, they want this person to be strong all the time or at least believe that they are strong no matter what happens. For example who is strong as mentally, if something urgent situation occurs this person can solve the situation and find the way through out. And people sees this and expect this person to be strong at this type of situation. So staying strong all the time requires mind control saying that I am good at this or I am strong on this so this person can stay positive and strong all the time. I believe this is one of the hardship or negative aspect of keeping the solid character trait because humans have feelings and their own thought and......

I also chose it so I can be a role model to my 14 year old brother and we can lead him to the right path. I currently work at a pharmacy and in the day I take care of my nieces but I will be starting to work at a hospital as a patient access representative. Character Traits

...Traits of Character Character Traits; the direction of the libidinous or passionate strivings of a man which makes it possible to describe his character structure uniformly. Character traits (e.g. miserliness, pedantry and intolerance) get together to an orientation and are part of the basic orientation of the character. (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Character+traits) According to Laua King’s The Science of Psychology “trait theories are theoretical views stressing that personality consists of broad, enduring dispositions (traits) that tend to lead to characteristic response. She also defines the “big five factors of personality as the broad traits that are thought to describe the main dimensions of personality.” She gives an acronym; “OCEAN. Openness; imaginative and practical; Conscientiousness; organized or disorganized, Extraversion; energetic or somber, Agreeableness; trusting or suspicious, and Neuroticism; calm or anxious.” As we can see, King’s examples for her acronym are complete opposites of each other. These are the different range of emotions that one can show during each of these stages. I see character traits as being the building blocks of one’s personality. The way one has developed their speech, style, eating habits, peer groups, and core values. I have been told that I am bossy, independent, unorganized, and scatter brained. I obviously have pick up these traits at different points of my life. Yes, most of them I did retain from my mother...
