...schooling. Charter schools are designed to educate students on a specific trade that can be carried over to help find jobs suited to the specifc trade. The socio-cultural benefit of going to a public school is that it helps students to become socially adaptable to a mass diversity of backgrounds and cultures. As the student transfers over to the world of being an employee/employer, the benefit of being adaptable to different backgrounds and cultures can help to reduce discrimination in the workplace. ...Simulation Review HCS/405 October 15, 2012 Simulation Review: Elijah Heart Center Healthcare can be considered one of the most profitable industries around today. This potential for revenue has made it very important to have a financial team that fully understands the workings of a healthcare organization. There are so many areas that can easily go wrong if the wrong financial decisions are made. Using the simulation helped one to understand the different outcomes possible when needing to make certain financial decisions that many organizations face today. Phase I: Capital Shortage The main problem with Elijah Heart Center is that although the center is doing well, it seems to be growing so fast that profitability is dropping. This is because of an increased patient volume and an increase in the wrong staff. The cost-cutting options that I selected were to reduce agency staff and changing the skill mix. I opted for “reducing proportion of agency contracted staff” because a large portion (almost twice that of employees directly hired by the hospital) of the revenue was being wasted in this area. The hospital pays premiums to staffing agencies that is just not necessary. Another thing to remember is that the skill level that these staffing agencies have is much lower when comparing them to the hospital staff, which have been there longer and are more experienced with patient care. I also chose to I noticed that once I selected this, the revenue...

...theme of duty builds confidence in the story of Wee Free Men. Proving this I will use 3 examples and quotes from the text. The first example I will use is on page 11 when Tiffany has the duty of looking after Wentworth. I will also use an example on page 243 when Tiffany forcefully orders Roland to crack the nut as well as on page 253 when Tiffany orders the Wee Free Men to find refuge from the nightmares in the trees. Tiffany’s confidence increases when she becomes selfless, fulfilling her duty of looking after her family and friends. In chapter 1 when Tiffany looks after Wentworth she builds up her confidence. This example located on page 11 when Tiffany states “Wentworth would be sticky. It didn’t seem to come from anywhere. He just got sticky. But he was an easy child to mind, provided you stopped him eating frogs.” This example shows Tiffany has the selfless duty of looking after Wentworth and in doing so she is able to build up confidence in herself. In chapter 11 Tiffany shows that she builds her confidence when she forcefully orders Roland to crack the nut. A quote to prove this is on page 243 when Tiffany hastily whispers to Roland “Crack the nut! Don’t worry about what I do! Just crack the nut!” This is a prime example as it shows that Tiffany is building up confidence in herself and that she now has the confidence to order her friends around to do what is best for them. In chapter 11 when Tiffany orders the Wee Free Men to head for the trees she shows......

Toll Lanes on the 405 Freeway

...Toll Lanes and the 405 Freeway Introduction / Article Summary For this paper, I chose an article that was recently published in the L.A. Times, written by Paloma Esquivel and Adolfo Flores. The article, titled, “Orange County, long a toll-road supporter, makes a U-turn over 405 plan,” discussed the response by local residents and business owners concerning the addition of a section of toll lanes to the 405 freeway, in an effort to decrease congestion. I chose this article for two reasons, the first of which is that the article seemed to address the tradeoffs not only between two of the three sides of the Good Society triangle, but actually covered all three. Secondly, I chose the article because the tradeoffs seemed especially vivid, as well as personally relevant to me because of my near daily use of the toll lane network currently spanning Orange County. The article discusses the differing responses to the proposed addition to the Orange County toll lane network, including that of residents, city officials, and small business owners. Residents of the area expressed outright concern and negativity toward the project, citing the expense of using the toll roads, dubbed “Lexus Lanes” daily. Additionally, many residents felt that they had paid the price already for better roads, in the form of a tax increase approved by voters, earmarked for adding an additional lane to the 405 freeway. Residents complained that by adding lanes that would also have a per-use cost, they......

...Psychodynamic Theories Jayme Terrigno PSY/405 October 6, 2014 Patti Tolar Psychodynamic Theories According to "Good Therapy" (2014), “The psychological interpretation of mental and emotional processes—is rooted in traditional psychoanalysis and draws from object relations, ego psychology, and self psychology” (para. 1). Psychodynamic theories draw most of their information from the idea of the unconscious, especially in the development of early childhood. This paper will describe personality, discuss the mail tenets of the theories presented, discuss how each theory applies to personality and behavior, and discusses the strengths and limitations of each theory. The degree to which individual humans vary from one another, both physically and psychologically, is quite astonishing and somewhat unique among species (Feist, Feist, & Roberts 2013). Personality id the physical characteristics of a person and how it reflects toward others. Personality is the thoughts and feelings that each person holds and shows to others. It is collection of a person, but these pieces of each person tend to remain the unchanged through the years. Psychodynamic theory was developed by a Sigmund Freud, a well-known theorist, and in his own words, scientist. ...Financial Statement Review HCS/405 Financial Statement Review The financial statements are reports that are useful in many ways including showing where the cash going into the business comes from and how this money is used. Financial statements will also show if a company can pay back the debts that have accrued. Other useful indications for financial statements are to track a trend in any issues related to the probability, and identify individual business transactions details. To understand the financial condition of an organization, an individual would look at the organization's financial statements (Baker & Baker, 2014). Using Patton-Fullers financial statements, Team B will address the difference between unaudited and audited statements and the effect of the revenue sources. Lastly Team B will show how income and expenses are grouped for planning and control. Analyzing Patton-Fuller's financial statements, Team B will address the connections between the sources of revenues and the costs of their financial performance. Audited and Unaudited Difference The financial statements differed between audited and unaudited in one main way; unaudited statements had more information and a more detail break down. For the unaudited financial statements, expenses and revenue are given out to depict clearly where money is coming from and where it does in various costs. The unaudited...

...Angela Johnson HCS/405 4/20/15 Simulation Review David Catoe Axia College University of Phoenix In my paper I will be providing information that pertains to how hospitals determine their revenue and expenses through using a simulation program. The information that is provided is based on The Elijah Heart Center and their results were carefully based on their analysis and decisions for staffing of the center, different types of equipment that is needed, along with their capital expansion, and any information that I may provide. Phase 1: Capital Shortage, in this simulation activity it has provided us with two different types of cost cutting options. The first was to minimize the amount of staff that the hospital uses. This decision was made because they knew that if the agency money would get more money if they hired additional staff from an agency and did not provide benefits. The agency personnel, that has been hired is already aware that at any given time they can be let go from their position and their position can be filled by a new hired person. Elijah heart Center may want to stop hiring agency contractor and start using the employees they already have. The cost cutting goal that needed to be reached had to be a cost savings of 750,000. The option that was selected has exceeded the amount of 811,249 just for the first quarter. This type of option was not a cost saving for Elijah Heart Center. Perhaps if......

...Psychodynamic Personality Theories Analysis Amy Demarest, Teresa Grant, Erica Hodges, Richard Mitchell, Janette Ortega PSY 405 May 28, 2012 Dr. Barry Brooks Psychodynamic Personality Theories Analysis The most popular Psychodynamic Personality Theories developed in psychology all have strengths and limitations in explaining individual’s behavior. Some of these theories are stronger than others in explaining behavior because they have more supporting evidence. Individuals differ from one another; each with unique personalities. Be it physically, emotionally, intellectually or psychologically, each person portrays distinct characteristics that are exclusive to them. Many psychodynamic theorists have theorized the origins and contributions that cultivate personality (Feist&Feist, 2009). Highlights of this paper will include contents of Sullivan’s interpersonal theory. Further analyzed will also be the theories of Alder, Jung, Klein, andHorney. Alder: Individual Personalities, and Interpersonal Relationships Alfred Alder created the theory of Individual Psychology as an attempt to explain personality development. His theory concluded that individuals are motived by the desire to be successful and superior to others. Alder believed that each individual personality was unique and indissoluble. Although Alder supported Freud’s beliefs of the unconscious mind, he did not support the idea that the unconscious mind has influence over one’s personality. Instead, Alder...
